Stephen Hanson Clutter, known by many as “Doc Rivers”, 78, of Danville, IL, passed away at 3:22 a.m. on Monday, September 28, 2026, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville. Born June 25, 1948, in Danville, Stephen was the son of William A. and Rose (Repasy) Clutter, who preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his stepmother, Joann (Roderick) Clutter, and his brother, Edward M. Clutter.
Stephen is survived by his two brothers, Michael Joseph and Janette Clutter of Terre Haute, IN, and Michael William and Marcia Clutter of Rossville, IL, as well as his nieces, nephews, and cousins.
For 18 years, Stephen worked for Geophysical Survey as an electronic technician for seismic gear. He generously gave his time to the Vermilion Handicap Association, helping build ramps for those in need. Stephen enjoyed fishing and was always ready to lend a hand with home repairs as he could do anything he set his mind to.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
