Ronald David Crabtree, 74, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 3:31 P.M. Tuesday, September 29, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born on June 9, 1952, at Lakeview Hospital in Danville, IL, the son of Arthur Hiram and Loretta E. (Hulse) Crabtree. He married Janet Rife on March 11, 1973, at the Church of Christ in Rossville, IL. She survives.
He is also survived by his daughter, Amy (Gary) Fink of Hoopeston, IL; his son, Matt (Courtney) Crabtree of Danville, IL; sister, Teresa (Ralph) Widmer of Monticello, IN; brother, Richard Crabtree of Centerville, IN; five grandchildren, Conner (Kayden) Fink, and Reagan and Bella Fink, and Isabella and Sophie Leemon; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Ron began his working life at FS in Rossville and went on to work at Chuckles in Danville. He then drove a semi for Bob Lusk at P & E I Truck Lines, Inc, and later worked for Stan and Trenton Seaman. He enjoyed spending time outdoors hunting and fishing. More than anything, Ron loved being with his family and treasured the moments they shared. Some of his happiest times were spent watching cartoons with his grandchildren and tending to the cattle alongside his son.
Cremation rites will be accorded.
