Lenard Earl Compton, 72, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 9:15 P.M. Sunday, September 27, 2026, at Goldwater Care in Danville. He was born on February 18, 1954, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Danville, the son of Lee Howard and Clea (Troxel) Compton. They preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his four brothers and one sister.

Throughout his life, Lenard held various jobs, including Schumacher Electric, painting with his father, road construction in Indiana, and later driving a truck for Rayls Bros. He was a past member of the Hoopeston Jaycees where he was active and had currently served as a Rooster. He also served as a volunteer for the ECI Model Railroad, helping to bring a show to Hoopeston. Lenard loved to bake and enjoyed riding around the countryside, making bird houses, chasing storms, and watching John Wayne.

A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Monday, October 5, 2026, at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
