The Following Preliminary Information is Being Released by Illinois State Police District 10: WHAT: Serious Injury Traffic Crash with Road Closure WHERE: Route 136 at the intersection of Champaign County 1200 East WHEN: May 29, 2017 at 3:57 am VEHICLES: Unit 1: Blue 2000 Chevrolet 1500 Pick-up Unit 2: Gray 2007 Pontiac Grand Prix DRIVERS: Unit 1: Breanna Evhon Maple 20 Years Old, Armstrong, IL Unit 2: Ashley J. Bode 28 Years Old, Gibson City, IL PASSENGERS: None PRELIMINARY: According to the preliminary traffic crash investigation, the driver of the blue Chevrolet pick-up, Unit 1, failed to stop at the stop sign on Champaign County 1200 East as she was traveling northbound. The Gray Pontiac, Unit 2, was traveling eastbound on Route 136 when Unit 1 failed to stop at the stop sign pulling in front of unit 2. Unit 2 struck unit 1 causing both units to leave the roadway. The driver of unit 1 was ejected from the vehicle. Both drivers suffered serious injuries none appear to be life threating. TRANSPORTS: Driver of unit 1 was transported by Air Life to area hospital. Driver of unit 2 was transported by ambulance to area hospital SEATBELTS: Driver of unit 1 was not wearing a seatbelt. Driver of unit 2 was wearing seatbelt CHARGES: The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Disobeying a traffic control device and Failure to wear seatbelt. All subjects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.
