Hoopeston Police Department Report December 1-7

Traffic Accident H17-5098
Date & Time: December 1, 2017      8:37am
Location: Third Street & Penn Street
Unit #1: 1995 Buick LeSabre driven by Stephen Mach (65) of Rossville
Unit #2: 2015 Chrysler Town & Country driven by Jessica D Chase (40) of 
Hoopeston.
Details: Unit 1 was traveling southbound on Third Street failing to yield
and proceeded to make a right hand turn.  Unit 1 struck Unit 2 who 
had the right of way and was traveling west on Penn Street.  
Both vehicles had extensive damage and towed from scene.
Fire Department also responded for a smoking engine.   
Driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure To Yield at Intersection. 
 
Aggravated Discharge of a Firearm, Aggravated Assault, Aggravated Fleeing and
Eluding, Driving While License Revoked H17-5107 V17-11402
Time:    20:15pm
Location:    500 blk N 7th Ave
Complainant:  37 year old Hoopeston female
Arrested:    Joseph Nicholas (40) Westville male
Details:    HPD was dispatched to the above location on a domestic situation.  When 
   officers got on scene, Mr. Nicholas lead them on a chase through Hoopeston
   and into Indiana.  After a single vehicle accident into a field, subject was
   arrested.  He was taken to the PSB in Danville on the charges listed to await
   arraignment.
 
Criminal Trespass To State Supported Property H17-5113
Date & Time: December 2, 2017     7:35am
Location: 400 Blk E Honeywell
Arrested: Robert L Deaton (44) of Hoopeston
Details: Officer responded to above for a disturbance.  Deaton, who is banned from
  property, was taken into custody and charged with above. 
He was released with a notice to appear in Vermilion County Court.
 
Driving While Under the Influence H17-5117
Time: 1:52pm
Location: 824 S Dixie Hwy, McDonalds
Arrested: Chasity Hough (41) of Fairmount
Details: HPD officers were called to McDonalds for a female that was “acting strange”.
Officers performed a Field Sobriety Test where it was found that she was
under the influence.  She was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  After
paying bond, she was released with a traffic citation and date for traffic court. 
 
Battery (city ordinance) H17-5120
Time: 10:32pm
Location: 700 blk S 1st Ave
Arrested: Bridgett Strawser (22) Hoopeston female
Misty Watson (36) Hoopeston female
Details: HPD officers were called to the above location in reference to a fight. After
an investigation, but subjects were arrested.  They were taken to HPD, processed
and released with a notice to appear and city court date.
 
Case Solved Burglaries H17-4999       
Date & Time: December 4, 2017 
Locations: 100 blk E Orange
Arrested: Matthew R Langenfeld (20) of Hoopeston
Details:                  After an investigation was complete subject was charged with Burglary to                      
business.  Subject is already in custody at PSB on other burglary charges.
 
 
Burglary to Business H17-5153
Date December 4, 2017 
Location: 1000 blk W Chestnut
Arrested: Matthew R Langenfeld (20) of Hoopeston
Details: Subject was charged with Burglary to business.  Already in
custody at PSB on other burglary charges.
 
Traffic Accident H17-5173
Time: 1:10 pm
Location: 4th Ave./E. Elm
Unit #1: 2003 Toyota Tundra driven by Joshua Jerome (35) of Hoopeston
Unit #2: 2010 Grumman Postal Truck
Details: Unit #2 was parked on the south side of W. Elm when Unit #1 backed out of a driveway in the area and struck Unit #2. No injuries and no citations. 
 
Possession of a Firearm by a Felon H17-5193 V17-11563
Time: 7:01 pm
Location: 300 blk E Lincoln
Arrested: William Lyons (33) of Hoopeston
Details: Officers were standing by when a firearm was located in a vehicle. William Lyons was arrested and charged with the above. He was transported to HPD and then to the PSB.
 
Vermilion County Warrant (2017CM0403) H17-5201
Time: 10:40 AM
Location: 301 W Main Street HPD 
Arrestee: Edwards, Beau J (M) (37) of Hoopeston 
Details: Mr. Edwards came to HPD and surrendered himself to our custody on the VC Warrant:  2017CM0403 Offenses involving Secretary State Vehicle Title.   He posted the required bond $3,000 10% plus $75 FTA Fee.   He was released from our custody with a new court date. 
 
Possession of Controlled Substance, Obstruction of Identification, No Valid Driver’s 
License, Disobeying Stop Sign, Operating Uninsured Vehicle H17-5208
Time: 6:45pm
Location: Main/Market
Arrested: 14 year old Danville juvenile
Details: HPD officers performed a traffic stop on the vehicle the juvenile was driving
after he didn’t stop at the above intersection.  After an investigation, subject was
arrested and charged with the above charges.  He was taken to HPD, processed
and later released to a guardian.  
 
Possession of Methamphetamine H17-5209   V17-11606
Time: 9:17pm
Location: 900 blk W Main
Arrested: Michael Cox (41) of Hoopeston
Details: HPD officers were called to the above location for a subject who was not
supposed to be on the property.  Subject advised officers that he was in
possession of methamphetamines.  He was arrested, taken to HPD and processed.
Later he was transported to the PSB in Danville to await arraignment.
