Hoopeston Police Department Report 11/9-11/10/18

Traffic Accident                      H18-6183

Time:                    2:13pm

Location:              851 E Orange St, Chittick parking lot

Unit #1:                2003 Ford Ambulance owned by Village of Oakwood, driven by

                                   Julie Roark (20)(F) of Catlin

Unit #2:                2006 Toyota pickup driven by Dwight Hoffman (87)(M) of Hoopeston

Details:                 Unit #1 was backing out of a parking space to turn around and struck the

                             side of Unit #2 who was entering the parking lot.  No injuries were reported,

                             both units were insured and no tickets were issued.

Time:                    7:26pm

Location:              Maple St/4th Ave

Details:                 HFD was dispatched to the area for the report of a strong odor of

                             natural gas.  Upon investigation, it was found to be a release valve with

                             no danger.

 

Unlawful Display on a Vehicle of any License Plate not Authorized for use on Vehicle

Time:                    8:37pm                                    H18-6188

Location:              1000 blk W Main St

Arrested:              Michael Ervin (56)(M) of Hoopeston

Details:                 HPD officers performed a traffic stop on the vehicle Mr. Ervin was

                             driving because the registration information didn’t match the vehicle he was

                             driving.  He was arrested on the above charge, taken to HPD and was

                             processed.  He was later released with a traffic citation and traffic court

                             date.

Time:          19:34hrs

Location:    Main/1st Ave,

Arrested:     Jose Ortiz (26)(M) of Hoopeston

Details:       Officers stopped the vehicle driven by Ortiz for an equipment violation. A computer check revealed Ortiz has never been issued a license, and therefore, did not have a valid driver’s license. He was transported to HPD where he was processed, posted bond, and was released with a court date.
