WHAT: Single Vehicle Fatality Traffic Crash
WHERE: Interstate 57 Southbound at Milepost 259, Ford County
WHEN: Jun. 26, 2020 at 6:26 p.m.
VEHICLE: Unit 1- 2007 Buick
DRIVER: Unit 1- 23-year-old female (Deceased). Identification pending next-of-kin
notification.
PASSENGER: Unit 1- Shyteisha E. M. Hedrick 23-year-old female of Urbana
(transported).

 PRELIMINARY: A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was
traveling southbound on I-57 in the right lane near the above location
approaching a construction zone. Unit 1 moved in front of a vehicle just
before the lanes merged into one. The unit 1 driver then lost control and
veered left off the roadway into the center median where it rolled several
times before coming to rest in the west ditch of the southbound lanes. The
unit 1 passenger was transported to a local area hospital with serious
injuries. The unit 1 driver was pronounced dead on scene by the Ford
County coroner.
