Statistics

Vermilion county

We have received 14,358 total tests (14,139 negatives and 219 positives).

For Vermilion County our overall positivity rate is at 1.53%.

Death Rate is .91%

Positivity Rate from 7/26 – 8/1:  2.2% which is a decrease from 2.9% the previous week.   New cases from 7/26 – 8/1:   49 per 100,000K, which is a decrease from 69 per 100K the previous week.  Anything over 50 NEW cases per 100K is above the stable level.

***We did see an increase in our CLI ED Visits for Adults from 1.2% to 2%.  Emergency department (ED) visits for COVID-Like Illness (CLI) are collected in near-real time using the Illinois Syndromic Surveillance System for hospitals, which looks at the reason an individual visits an emergency department and diagnosis. Visits are defined as CLI if the patient presents with a fever AND either cough, difficulty breathing or is given a diagnosis of COVID-19. Percent of weekly CLI ED visits = [County CLI ED visits in adults ages 18 years and older for 7 days] / [County total ED visits in adults ages 18 years and older for same 7 days] x 100. If there are fewer than 5 ED visits for CLI for 7 days, then the percent is not calculated, due to the small number instability in the percent and <5 will be reported.  County-level visits are measured by where the patient lives and the date they visited the emergency department.

Remember, if we have 2 metrics that we are above stable, we will be in the warning area and have possible restrictions added.  Had we had 2 more new cases per 100K, we would be in the warning area.  Right now, Iroquois County is in the warning level and IDPH cautioned neighboring counties to be cautious and vigilant. ***

New/Helpful Guidance

The governor put out the following new COVID-19 Emergency Rules:

 NEW IDPH COVID-19 EMERGENCY RULES

In an effort to maintain the progress we have made in Illinois’ COVID-19 pandemic response, the Pritzker administration is filing emergency rules for businesses, schools, and child care establishments regarding the use of face coverings and the size of gatherings.

These rules provide multiple opportunities for compliance before any penalty is issued, giving local health departments and local law enforcement more leeway to support community public health in a productive manner. While existing, pre-pandemic enforcement laws, like revoking a license, are stringent and severe, these rules provide flexibility for local communities and a measured process to help keep people safe.

That process is as follows:

  • First, businesses will be given a warning in the form of written notice and encouraged to voluntarily comply with public health guidance.
  • Second, businesses that do not voluntarily comply will be given an order to have some or all of their patrons leave the premises as needed to comply with public health guidance and reduce risks.
  • Third, if the business continues to refuse to comply, the business can receive a class A misdemeanor and be subject to a fine ranging from $75-$2,500.

These rules do not apply to individuals and penalties will not exceed a misdemeanor and a $75-$2,500 fine.

The emergency rules also reinforce the authority of IDPH and local health departments to investigate COVID-19 cases and reaffirm that businesses have a responsibility to cooperate with those investigations.
