WHAT:                      Single Vehicle Fatal Traffic Crash

 

WHERE:                   Interstate 57 Northbound @ Milepost 227.5 (Champaign County) 

 

WHEN:                      Tuesday, September 1, 2020, 5:50 p.m.

 

VEHICLE:                Unit 1:  2020 Freightliner Utility Truck        

                                   

DRIVER:                   Unit 1:  John P. Wilson 62-year-old male of Oakwood, IL (Deceased)

 

PASSENGER:           Unit 1:  Troy W. Tranchant 51-year-old male of Danville, IL (Transported to a local area hospital with non-life-threatening injuries)

 

PRELIMINARY:      Preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling northbound on Interstate 57 near milepost 227.5 in the left lane when for unknown reasons left the roadway to the left.  The driver of Unit 1 over corrected and lost control leaving the roadway to the right and over turned in the right-side ditch.
