Update on Cases From the Vermilion County Health Department
Over the weekend, we were able to report 20 cases. We had 4 teens, 3 in their 20s, 4 in their 30s, 3 in their 40s, 3 in their 50s, 1 in their 60s and 2 in their 80s.
New cases for today. Again, I caution you to be excited about today’s number. Our nurses spent time training new contact tracers to help us with the abundance of cases. Tomorrow will be a large increase as we report only those who we’ve confirmed, which is why there is a delay in the reporting. 3 new cases and 33 were released. This puts our active cases at 89 with 5 still in the hospital and 84 at home in isolation. We had 2 in their 50s and 1 in their 70s. No new cases were hospitalized.
This morning, we were made aware of a few large gatherings over the weekend, so we hope that everyone took proper precautions and we do not see more outbreaks. I am posting this as a reminder and I encourage you to share. While we understand that restrictions can be difficult, especially for special occasions, they are meant to stop the spread of COVID19. Vermilion County is seeing a disturbing trend of case increases and until we take it seriously, it will only get worse. While some businesses or events are choosing to not adhere to the guidelines, many are and it is up to the community to help them keep their staff safe and their doors open. So I am including again, the FAQs, which go into more detail on some of the guidelines. https://www2.illinois.gov/dceo/Documents/Essential%20Business%20FAQ.pdf
