Vermilion County Covid 19 update 9/30/2020

We had a call with IDPH yesterday on region 6 and the fact that we are on our way to exceeding the 8% positivity rate threshold.  If our rolling average goes above 8% for 3 consecutive days, our region will be placed into more restrictions.  Please see the following link on what restrictions will be placed on us if we reach this level:   https://coronavirus.illinois.gov/s/restore-illinois-mitigation-plan

It is important for us to stress to everyone the importance of adhering to the guidance to protect our community, our businesses, our schools, and our hospitals.  We have seen increases in positivity rates which means we are finding more illness even though the numbers of tests collected have been remaining pretty constant.

Update on Cases

Today’s Cases:  18 new cases and 18 were released.  This puts our active cases at 100 with 9 in the hospital and 91 at home in isolation. We were able to release one from the hospital (that is included in our 18 released).   None of our new cases are hospitalized.  We have 4 in their 20s, 2 in their 30s, 3 in their 40s, 2 in their 50s, 1 in their 60s, 5 in their 70s and 1 in their 90s.  7 of the cases are connected through households, family, or other connections.

One thing to note is that we have been seeing increase in our senior population again, these are nursing home residents.

  • CVS has testing available now, 7 days a week.  You MUST go online and fill out a form to see if you qualify and make an appointment.  Some areas do have the rapid testing, but mostly the PCR tests.  Available for anyone age 12 and over.  They will require you to do your own swabbing.  There are a lot of FAQs on the site, that should be able to answer all your questions.
