Vermilion County Covid 19 update 11/13/2020

General Updates

Region 6 (without UIUC tests) increased to 12.7% (ending 11/9).   Vermilion County’s 7-day rolling average went down from yesterday (12.3) to 12.2%.  We had a positivity rate of only 8.5% on 11/9.  We still had 52 positive cases, but had tested over 600 (graph for this is at the end of the email).

Mitigation Measures  (This is NOT Phase 3)

TIER ONE Mitigations  (it is likely that we will see additional restrictions placed on our region as we have not reduced our positivity rate and would have needed to see under 6.5% for the 7 day rolling average by 11/13)

IDPH released guidance on Region 6 - https://dceocovid19resources.com/assets/Restore-Illinois/COVID-19-Resurgence-Migitations.pdf

Update on Cases

Today’s confirmed cases:  We have 35 new cases and 18 released.  This brings our confirmed active case count to 267 with 244 in home isolation and 23 hospitalized.  New cases include:  1 toddler, 5 teens, 6 in their 20s, 3 in their 30s, 5 in their 40s, 6 in their 50s, 4 in their 60s, 4 in their 70s, and 1 in their 80s.

We have about 6 deaths right now that we are still waiting on residency information on.

IDPH is asking everyone to really limit their outings and gatherings in the next 3 weeks.  Our hospitals are getting closer to reaching full capacity and our healthcare workers in the hospitals and our nursing home facilities are overwhelmed and working long and exhausting hours.  New reports from our hospitals show transfers now due to reaching capacity.  We are getting to the point where there are more people needing to be admitted than there are beds!  I don’t know what more to say to show the seriousness that we are getting into.

Increased Cases / Outbreaks

  • Election Judges (we have had a few cases among election judges – many we were told were not wearing masks)
  • Long Term Care / Congregate living
  • Schools / Daycares
  • Businesses / Industries

Rumor Mill

  • Rumor is:  It’s okay to have COVID19 positive people work.  The Truth is:  Once again, IDPH STRONGLY DOES NOT recommend having staff work that are COVID19 positive.

Testing Information

  • IMPORTANT:  If your agency is doing any testing, please make sure that your negative and positive results are being submitted through IDPH’s redcap system.  If you are not registered in redcap, you MUST create an account and begin to enter your results.  https://redcap.dph.illinois.gov/ This is crucial that our county accounts for every test we do.
  • Testing Results:  To get results for mobile testing, you can call 1-800-889-3931 or 1-888-297-7208.  Please wait at least 3-4 days after testing before you call.  The State of Illinois Testing Center should call, but this is just in case.

Vaccination Plans  (no set dates at this time) http://www.dph.illinois.gov/covid19/vaccination-plan
