Vermilion County Covid 19 update 12/28/2020

This report deals with an ongoing COVID-19 outbreak at a Illinois Department of Corrections in Vermilion County.

We are reporting five hundred and nineteen new cases today (one in their 80s, two in their 70s, twenty-nine in their 60s, fifty-nine in their 50s, ninety-nine in their 40s, one hundred and thirty-five in their 30s, one hundred and three in their 20s, and 91 whose ages are still being confirmed.)  Of those 519 cases, 72 have been released from isolation, and 447 are active. 

These COVID-19-positive cases occurred between November 14 and December 23.  The outbreak investigation is ongoing, and these numbers are expected to increase.


Adding these newly reported cases to our already-reported cases brings us to a total of 5,353 positive cases -- 810 of which are active.

We have lost 74 Vermilion County residents to COVID-related deaths since this pandemic began.

There are currently 39 COVID-positive Vermilion County residents hospitalized. 

We have received a total of 65,379 negative test results.

We still have not received our initial shipment of COVID vaccine. 

The State's Mobile COVID-Testing Team will be at the Health Department two days next week, Wednesday the 30th and Thursday the 31st.
