WHAT:                      ­­­­­­­Two Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash

WHERE:                   Illinois Route 47 at Ford County .050 North Rd.

WHEN:                      Dec. 29, 2020 at approximately 10:45p.m.

VEHICLE:                Unit 1- Gray, 2001 BMW

                                    Unit 2- 2002 Pontiac

DRIVER:                   Unit 1- Dewey Couch, a 60-year-old male of Rankin, IL (Transported to an area hospital with serious injuries)

DRIVER:                   Unit 2- Donald Chapman, a 57-year-old male of Champaign, IL

            PRELIMINARY:      A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling southbound on IL. Route 47, just north of Ford Co. .050 North Rd at the above approximate time.  Unit 1 had its exterior lights deactivated as the vehicle was attempting to elude the Gibson City Police Department following an attempted traffic stop.  Unit 2 was traveling northbound on IL. Route 47 when it was side-swiped by Unit 1.  Unit 1 continued south for approximately 1 tenth of a mile and ran off the roadway into a farm field.  Unit 1 overturned and the driver was ejected.  Unit 1 driver was transported to a local hospital with serious injuries.  No further information is available at this time.
