Vermilion County Covid 19 update 2/3/2021

Mitigation Updates – Region Six in Phase 4

Our region and even our county is looking much better, but again, it is important to stay vigilant and continue to take the necessary precautions so that we do not slide back.

Current Positivity Rate for Region 6 is:   4.6%

Vermilion County’s Positivity Rate is:     6%

Vaccination Updates

4,248 (as of yesterday) vaccine doses have been administered to Vermilion County residents.  504 have been fully vaccinated.

Our plan is to still open up our phone lines on February 16th to begin taking more appointments.

We have a full load this week for our COVID19 clinics !  We have over 600 scheduled this week for both 2nd dose and 1st doses and we feel that we will have the majority of our Vermilion County K-12 Education Staff completed who wanted to receive a vaccine.  This week our clinics are STILL at the Vermilion County Health Department. On February 11th, we will begin our clinics at the Fischer Theatre.  I have also attached a parking lot guide around the Fischer Theatre for those who ask.

We are also working with Carle and OSF as they begin to take on their patients to give vaccines.  This is information for what their options are:

If you are 75 and older, and a resident of Vermilion County, you may have the opportunity to receive a vaccine through special clinics at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center or Carle Danville on Fairchild.  Please do not call your providers office, instead call 217-902-6100 to check appointment availability.    Carle will also be moving to the Village Mall and will be ramping up their vaccine clinics (hoping to do at least 2,000 a week).

OSF HealthCare is offering the COVID-19 Vaccine to patients by appointment only. Patients will receive an invite for their appointment via OSF MyChart, email, or phone. OSF is currently prioritizing patients using age (greater than 65) with additional risk factors to ensure patients most at risk receive the vaccination first.

This is an amazing partnership with both our hospitals that we are forever grateful for.

Vaccine questions/concerns I am getting:

Right now, until the CDC and the State say otherwise, people will still need to isolate and quarantine even if they are vaccinated.  Everything is still status quo.

School sports are back in session and it has been recommended by the state to go by the 14-day quarantine since they will be more likely to not have the 6 feet, 15 minute separation.  Another option if schools want to continue to go by the 10-day option if the students have no symptoms, they could require a negative test on day 9 or 10 to return back to school.  Again, the 14 day is the best practice, but understand that some schools may want to continue with the 10-day option.

Case updates

We are up to 7,570 cases (this is about 10% of our population) with 22 hospitalizations.  Our total number of deaths related to COVID19 are 91, but we have quite a few we are looking into to confirm residencies.  Our current active cases are at 524.
