Vaccination Updates

7,492 vaccine doses have been administered to Vermilion County residents.  925 have been fully vaccinated (about 1.2%).  IDPH bases the percentage on entire population (76K – which Vermilion County is actually lower than that).  Right now, children are unable to get the vaccine, so our percentage would be a little higher if they took that into account.

We will transition to the Fischer Theatre on Thursday February 11th, 2021 and continuing at the location moving forward.  We are in PRELIMINARY planning for a smaller drive thru clinic for our more vulnerable populations who have severe ambulatory issues.  More information to come!!

Our plan is to still open up our phone lines on February 16th to begin taking more appointments.

Vaccine allotment to the counties goes up and down every week.  We continue to ask for as much vaccine as we can and are able to administer.

We did over 600 vaccines this past week, beginning our 1st round of 2nd doses vaccines and finishing up our K-12 educators.

We are also working with Carle and OSF as they begin to take on their patients to give vaccines.  This is information for what their options are:

  *   If you are 65 and older, and a resident of Vermilion County, you may have the opportunity to receive a vaccine through our partner Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center (CHRHC). CHRHC is hosting clinics at their hospital in Hoopeston and at the Village Mall in Danville. Please do not call your providers office. Check your MyCarle account for scheduling options, or call (217) 902-6100.
  *   OSF HealthCare is offering the COVID-19 Vaccine to patients by appointment only. Patients will receive an invite for their appointment via OSF MyChart, email, or phone. OSF is currently prioritizing patients using age (greater than 65) with additional risk factors to ensure patients most at risk receive the vaccination first.

This is an amazing partnership with both our hospitals that we are forever grateful for.

Questions / Concerns / New Guidance

  *   Many people are experiencing more symptoms with their 2nd dose about 12-48 hours after their vaccine.  While this is normal, please be prepared if you have had multiple staff go through clinics.

Case updates

Yesterday, our administrator put out an update on Facebook with our newest round of cases.  We added 148 new cases (this was over multiple days) and released 118.  We currently have 548 active cases and 14 of them are hospitalized.  We lost 2 more residents to COVID19.  Our hearts go out to their families.  This brings our total number of deaths to 96.
