Vaccination Updates

8,664 vaccine doses have been administered to Vermilion County residents.  1,064 have been fully vaccinated (about 1.4%).

We will transition to the Fischer Theatre on Thursday February 11th, 2021 and will be continuing at the location moving forward.

Our plan is to still open up our phone lines on February 16th to begin taking more appointments.  Information on what extensions people will use will be released prior to the 16th

On Friday, IDPH put out an alert to Local Health Departments that race and ethnicity must be recorded in the registration process for vaccine administration beginning today.  They want to ensure that we are reaching all populations.  We have made modifications to our consent form and updated it on our website.

Vaccine allotment to the counties goes up and down every week.  We continue to ask for as much vaccine as we can and are able to administer.

We are also working with Carle and OSF as they begin to take on their patients to give vaccines.  This is information for what their options are:

  • If you are 65 and older, and a resident of Vermilion County, you may have the opportunity to receive a vaccine through our partner Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center (CHRHC). CHRHC is hosting clinics at their hospital in Hoopeston and at the Village Mall in Danville. Please do not call your providers office. Check your MyCarle account for scheduling options, or call (217) 902-6100.
  • OSF HealthCare is offering the COVID-19 Vaccine to patients by appointment only. Patients will receive an invite for their appointment via OSF MyChart, email, or phone. OSF is currently prioritizing patients using age (greater than 65) with additional risk factors to ensure patients most at risk receive the vaccination first.

This is an amazing partnership with both our hospitals that we are forever grateful for.

Questions / Concerns / New Guidance

  • Many people are experiencing more symptoms with their 2nd dose about 12-48 hours after their vaccine.  While this is normal, please be prepared if you have had multiple staff go through clinics and how it might have an effect on your organization / business.

Case updates

Over the last few days, we had 282 new cases (some from the large congregate living facility that is currently having an outbreak) and 519 releases.  This leaves our active cases at 311, 16 of which are hospitalized at this time.    We have had a total of 8,088 confirmed cases of COVID19.  That’s about 11% of our population.  Updates on today’s new cases will be released by our administrator later this evening on Facebook and I will include them tomorrow.

On 2/6/2021, we had a daily positivity rate of 12.2%.  I want us to be cautious to not get too comfortable since we are back in phase 4.   Continue to properly mask, social distance, not gather in large events, etc.
