We had a very successful Vaccination Clinic Day at the Fischer Theatre! It was a very long day, but worth it as we saw many of our 65 and older population!!    I cannot thank our partners enough.  UIC School of Nursing, The Fischer Theatre and their volunteers, VCEMA, Pro Ambulance, and our amazing crew at VCHD!
We saw about 560 people today.  We had some last minute cancellations due to being able to get their vaccine sooner through other vaccine providers.  We saw only a small bottleneck for about an hour as many of our clients came 30 minutes-1 hour early for their appointments.  We currently schedule 30 people every 15 minute, so with the extra people, it caused a little congestion, but we were able to get them all thru pretty quickly and I have to give high praise to the entire nursing crew and our volunteers for their amazing efforts.

Unfortunately, I also have bad news.   We were notified by the state after our clinic today that there is a shortage with vaccine at this time and our county will not receive even our normal allocation of 900 per week.  There are some weeks ahead in which we will receive zero vaccine.  Any allocation we receive already is shared with our providers in Vermilion County who are giving vaccine, especially OSF Sacred Heart and Carle.  Right now, VCHD has enough vaccine to complete our February 18th and February 25th vaccine clinics and take care of all our 2nd dosers as well.  We will not be adding anymore 1st dose clients at this time.

I hope that this is temporary as it comes at a horrible time especially when the state just included those under 65 with underlying health conditions.
