Vermilion County Covid 19 update 2/19/21

Another busy day with our vaccination clinic at the Fischer Theatre.  We gave just over 510 vaccines today.  Once again, we would like to thank our partners, UIC School of Nursing, Lakeview School of Nursing, Danville Police Department, Vermilion County Emergency Management Agency, Pro Ambulance, our MRC volunteers, and the Fischer Theatre and their volunteers!!    We’d also like to thank the City of Danville for clearing the sidewalks and the parking lots with the mounds of snow we received just a few days ago.

10,870 doses have been given to Vermilion County Residents (both 1st and 2nd doses).  1,633 Vermilion County residents have been fully vaccinated.  Unfortunately, due to the limited vaccine we will be getting possibly for the next month, this number will rise at a much slower pace.    Luckily, we have not had to cancel any clinics, but at this time are not making appointments for new 1st dosers, but have plenty of vaccine for all 2nd dosers and already scheduled clinics.  Please remember, this affects our hospitals, Carle and OSF, as well who have been working extremely hard at giving vaccines to our community!

At the end of next week, those with underlying health conditions between the ages of 16 – 64 are eligible to receive the vaccine and have been added to phase 1b.  Our hope is that we will get more vaccine soon to accommodate this increase.  Also…while it does say 16+, Moderna is only for 18+ at this time, which is mainly what is being given here in Vermilion County ( at least what we have been allocating) .  I have seen that some of the pharmacies in Vermilion County have also been giving vaccine, so I am excited to see another location or option for our community!!

12 group homes or long term care centers have received their vaccines, many already receiving their 2nd dose as well.

Information on Region 6:

Positivity Rate:  3.5%

ICU availability 47%

Vermilion County Positivity Rate:  3.9%

I do not have an update on cases at this time.  I hope to have time tomorrow to update the charts and get an updated graphic out!
