Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center announces change to COVID-19 testing Monday

Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center will no longer offer drive-thru COVID-19 testing on the hospital campus beginning Monday, March 15.

Any individual needing a COVID-19 test due to symptoms or exposure is encouraged to contact Carle’s COVID-19 Hotline at (217) 902-6100, call their Carle provider, or visit their nearest Convenient Care location.

“We have seen a dramatic decrease in those needing COVID-19 testing for several weeks now, so we’re officially transitioning to indoor testing at Convenient Care,” Heather Tucker, MSN, hospital administrator, said. “We’ve continued to also serve those who need a test prior to a procedure or surgery.”

For the health and safety of all, anyone entering a Carle facility must wear a mask. Patients with COVID-19 symptoms or a known exposure to COVID-19 will be registered and roomed immediately.

Staff will ask patients to provide their phone number and to wait in their vehicle if there is not adequate space for social distancing. A staff member will call the patient to come back into the clinic when a room is ready.

“Although we are seeing less positive cases, we are still taking these precautions to ensure we are keeping our patients and staff protected. Safety is our number one priority so that we can continue to slow the spread of COVID-19,” Tucker said.
