Vermilion County Covid 19 update 4/28/21

We are reporting 19 new cases today (three residents in their 60s, two in their 50s, two in their 40s, five in their 30s, five in their 20s, and two teens), and 9 released, which brings us to a total of 9,152 positive cases.

We have lost a total of 132 Vermilion County residents to COVID-related deaths since this pandemic began.

There are currently 7 Vermilion County residents with COVID hospitalized.  There are currently 104 active COVID cases in the county.

The B-117 variant – a more-contagious version of COVID-19 – is moving throughout our community.

As the number of new COVID cases continues to increase, the number of COVID-related hospitalizations and the number of COVID-related deaths increase.

The increase in cases can impact the number of open hospital beds, our workplaces and our schools.

Wearing face masks and practicing social distancing can help to slow the spread of this disease.  Please continue to be vigilant.  Make smart choices.  Be safe.

Our focus the rest of this week and next week will be on first-dose Moderna vaccinations and single-dose Johnson & Johnson vaccinations at smaller clinics in Danville and around the county.  Please check our website, www.vchd.org<http://www.vchd.org>, or call 431-2662, ext. 263 or 264 for details.
