Body Found in Iroquois County

Authorities are investigating after the body of a southern Illinois man was found inside a fuel tanker trailer in rural Buckley.

The Iroquois County Sheriff’s Office said in a news release that the body of 29-year-old Garrett Meyer of Nashville, Ill., was discovered Friday morning at 366 E. Iroquois County Road 800 North.

The body was removed from the trailer late Friday afternoon with the assistance of firefighters from Buckley, Paxton and Urbana, the release said.

An autopsy was conducted Saturday at the Champaign County Coroner’s Office, with the results pending toxicology, the release said.

The incident remains under investigation by the sheriff’s office and Iroquois County Coroner’s Office. The Illinois State Police crime scene unit has assisted in the investigation.
