Vermilion County Covid 19 update 6/23/21

We are reporting 10 new cases (three residents in their 50s, one in their 40s, one in their 30s, and five teens), and 17 released, which brings us to a total of 10,069 positive cases.

We have lost a total of 145 Vermilion County residents to COVID-related deaths since this pandemic began.

There are currently 6 Vermilion County residents with COVID hospitalized. There are currently 54 active COVID cases in the county.

Of the 10 cases being reported today, one of them told us they have been fully vaccinated.

We holding one COVID-19 vaccination clinic per month at the Health Department at this time. Please see our website, www.vchd.org, for registration information. Appointments are preferred, but walk-ins will be allowed up until 30 minutes before the end of clinic times.

Tonight's COVID-vaccination clinic at the Danville Dans game will be the last one worked by "our" team of Illinois National Guard members and contract nurses - some of whom have been stationed here since March. Over the past three months, they have helped us organize and run about 100 vaccination clinics. They have vaccinated a total of about 9,600 people - most of them Vermilion County residents.

After tonight, some of them will return to their homes, and others will become part of mobile vaccination teams, travelling around the state to hold clinics at special events (such as the Vermilion County Fair.)

It is difficult to express our deep gratitude for this resource which was generously provided by the State. They arrived when they were most-needed by this community, and they exceeded our every expectation.
