Vermilion County Covid 19 update 8/30/21

Due to our HIGH transmission status, it is recommended that everyone, despite vaccination, should wear a mask when indoors.   Local transmission in Vermilion County decreased slightly to 587.40.  Please continue to encourage people to get vaccinated, wear a mask when indoors, and make good decisions.  Our actions can affect everyone in this community.

Regional Hospital Information

One of our Region’s Hospital’s EDs were at Peak Census as of this morning.  We have about 16 ICU beds open in Region 6 which includes 15 hospitals and 1 VA  (Region 6 covers 21 counties).  Status for our region as of this morning was that we have about 36 COVID patients in the ICU, 134 in non-ICU status, and 19 on ventilators.  There are also patients waiting in EDs right now for beds to be admitted.  These numbers don’t include the PUIs.  Please remember it isn’t the number of actual beds available that is the problem, it is the number of available staff to provide care for those beds.
