A new vaccination opportunity is listed in the Vaccination Section. Please see TESTING section below as IDPH had the State Farm Center on their site for testing and that is incorrect!! There is still 7 day a week testing available, just at a different location!
Due to our HIGH transmission status, it is recommended that everyone, despite vaccination, should wear a mask when indoors. Local transmission decreased significantly (22.68%) to 418.44 over the last 7-day period. Please continue to encourage people to get vaccinated, wear a mask when indoors, and make good decisions. Our actions can affect everyone in this community. For a full view of the CDC reports for Vermilion County, go to the CD Tracker Link: https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view
Regional Hospital Information
Three of our Region’s Hospital’s EDs were at Peak Census as of this morning. We have about 10 ADULT ICU beds open in Region 6 which includes 15 hospitals and 1 VA (Region 6 covers 21 counties). Status for our region as of this morning was that we have about 38 COVID patients in the ICU, 130 in non-ICU status, and 24 on ventilators (these numbers do not include PUIs). There were about 11 patients waiting in EDs for beds to be admitted. There were also 3 interfacility transfers, which means the number of patients transferred the previous calendar day (midnight to 11:59 pm) from a hospital emergency department or a hospital inpatient area out to other facilities (whether in the same health system or another) due to lack of capacity. The majority of our hospitalizations are still with our unvaccinated population.
Please remember it isn’t the number of actual beds available that is the problem, it is the number of available staff to provide care for those beds.
Our hospital staff are feeling the strain and it is up to this community to keep them afloat. I cannot say this enough!
