Vermilion County Covid 19 update 9/15/2021

Due to our HIGH transmission status, it is recommended that everyone, despite vaccination, should wear a mask when indoors.   No change due to “over the weekend numbers not reported”.   Please continue to encourage people to get vaccinated, wear a mask when indoors, and make good decisions.  Our actions can affect everyone in this community.   For a full view of the CDC reports for Vermilion County, go to the CD Tracker Link:  https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view

Regional Hospital Information

Five of our Region’s Hospital’s EDs were at Peak Census as of this morning.  We have about 19 ADULT ICU beds open in Region 6 which includes 15 hospitals and 1 VA  (Region 6 covers 21 counties).  Status for our region as of this morning was that we have about 29 COVID patients in the ICU, 140 in non-ICU status, and 22 on ventilators (these numbers do not include PUIs).  There were about 21 patients waiting in EDs for beds to be admitted.  There were 8 interfacility transfers, which means the number of patients transferred the previous calendar day (midnight to 11:59 pm) from a hospital emergency department or a hospital inpatient area out to other facilities (whether in the same health system or another) due to lack of capacity.   Most of our hospitalizations are still with our unvaccinated population.   Four patients in our regional hospitals lost their lives since yesterday.
