Vermilion County Covid 19 update 9/28/21

Lots of new information including vaccination rates by Zip Code.  IDPH has that listed on their website now.

VCHD will be getting out their flu clinic schedule soon!  We finally received our shipment of flu.

Due to our HIGH transmission status, it is recommended that everyone, despite vaccination, should wear a mask when indoors.   Please continue to encourage people to get vaccinated, wear a mask when indoors, and make good decisions.  Our actions can affect everyone in this community.   For a full view of the CDC reports for Vermilion County, go to the CD Tracker Link:  https://covid.cdc.gov/covid-data-tracker/#county-view

Regional Hospital Information

One of our Region’s Hospital’s EDs was at Peak Census as of this morning.  We have about 27 ADULT ICU beds open in Region 6 which includes 15 hospitals and 1 VA  (Region 6 covers 21 counties).  Status for our region as of this morning was that we have about 16 COVID patients in the ICU, 105 in non-ICU status, and 7 on ventilators (these numbers do not include PUIs).  There were about 2 patients waiting in EDs for beds to be admitted.  There were 5 interfacility transfers, which means the number of patients transferred the previous calendar day (midnight to 11:59 pm) from a hospital emergency department or a hospital inpatient area out to other facilities (whether in the same health system or another) due to lack of capacity.   Most of our hospitalizations are still with our unvaccinated population.   Five patients in our regional hospitals lost their lives since yesterday.   We also have 2 patients under the age of 18 hospitalized in non-ICU beds with COVID19 in our region.

COVID19 Updates

The booster shot has been approved, but ONLY for Pfizer.  Please see the attachment for the information regarding who should receive the booster.  This is different for the “3rd dose” for immunocompromised that can receive either Pfizer or Moderna 28 days after their 2nd dose.

For further questions about the booster/3rd dose, please see the information from IDPH.   http://www.dph.illinois.gov/covid19/third-dose-faq
