We are reporting 270 new cases (four residents in their 80s, thirteen in their 70s, twenty-nine in their 60s, twenty-three in their 50s, twenty-three in their 40s, forty-three in their 30s, thirty in their 20s, forty-three teens, forty-three grade-school-aged children, nine preschoolers, three toddlers, and seven infants), and 428 released, which brings us to a total of 15,912 positive cases. We are saddened to report two additional COVID-related deaths - a man in his 80s, and a man in his 70s. Our sympathies go out to their families and friends. We have lost a total of 209 Vermilion County residents to COVID-related deaths since this pandemic began. There are currently 347 active COVID cases in the county. There are currently 28 Vermilion County residents hospitalized with COVID. We are aware of fifteen Vermilion County residents who have become reinfected with COVID since June 1. Of the 270 cases being reported today, ten of them told us they have been fully vaccinated. As part of the interview process, our contact tracers ask each person who tested positive whether they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Vaccinations save lives. There are quite a few opportunities to receive your COVID-19 vaccine or booster. Please bring your COVID vaccination cards and an ID. * Saturday, December 4th from 9 a.m. - noon at the Oakwood Public Library (110 East Finley, Oakwood) - Pfizer and Moderna booster clinic. There will be COVID-testing clinics at the Health Department on both Tuesdays and Wednesdays - from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m. both days.
