Vermilion County Covid 19 update 12/29/21

The CDC is recommending a shorter isolation or quarantine time for some people who test positive for COVID, or who were in close contact with a COVID-positive person. We are awaiting direction from the Illinois Department of Public Health before making any changes to our isolation and quarantine procedures. *** We are reporting 115 new cases (one resident in their 90s, two in their 80s, three in their 70s, thirteen in their 60s, twenty-three in their 50s, thirteen in their 40s, seventeen in their 30s, twenty-six in their 20s, seven teens, six grade-school-aged children, one pre-schooler, and three infants), and 195 released, which brings us to a total of 17,532 positive cases. We are saddened to report three additional COVID-related deaths - a woman in her 90s, a woman in her 60s, and a man in his 60s. Our sympathies go out to their families and friends. We have lost a total of 235 Vermilion County residents to COVID-related deaths since this pandemic began. There are currently 283 active COVID cases in the county. There are currently 25 Vermilion County residents hospitalized with COVID. We are aware of twenty-one Vermilion County residents who have become reinfected with COVID since June 1. Of the 115 cases being reported today, twelve of them told us they have been fully vaccinated. As part of the interview process, our contact tracers ask each person who tested positive whether they are fully vaccinated against COVID-19. Vaccinations save lives. There are quite a few opportunities to receive your COVID-19 vaccine or booster. Please bring your COVID vaccination cards and an ID. * Location: Boys and Girls Club - hosted by Aetna Better Health of Illinois, 850 N.
