We are saddened to report an additional COVID-related deaths - a woman in her 70s. Our sympathies go out to her family and friends. We have lost a total of 239 Vermilion County residents to COVID-related deaths since this pandemic began. There are currently 301 active COVID cases in the county. There are currently 44 Vermilion County residents hospitalized with COVID. We are aware of twenty-three Vermilion County residents who have become reinfected with COVID since June 1. Of the 77 cases being reported today, five of them told us they have been fully vaccinated. As part of the interview process, our contact tracers ask each person who tested positive whether they are fully vaccinated (two doses of Pfizer or Moderna, or one dose of Johnson & Johnson) against COVID-19. Vaccinations save lives. There are quite a few opportunities to receive your COVID-19 vaccine or booster.
