On January 9th, 2022, Iroquois County Sherriff’s police investigated a single car fatal accident in Belmont Township.

At 10:10pm ICOM received a 911 call from a homeowner stating that on County Road 2000E north of Belmont Acres someone had drove into the back of their home. 

Woodland fire, Riverside EMS, and Sherriff’s police responded to the scene where they found the driver, 72-year-old Michael Miner deceased and the sole occupant in the vehicle. The cause of the crash reminds under investigation by the Iroquois County Sherriff’s police and Iroquois county coroner’s office.
