Chardey Austin, formerly of Danville, Illinois, pleaded guilty and was sentenced today to a total of twelve (12) years in Illinois Department of Corrections. In 2020 CF 638, Austin pleaded guilty to one count of possession of a stolen firearm (a class 2 felony). In 202 ICF671, Austin pleaded guilty to one count of possession with intent to deliver heroin (a class 1 felony). Austin received a six (6) year prison sentence for each case, to be served consecutively, and her total sentence shall be followed by one year of mandatory supervised release.

Austin was apprehended after a long-term undercover investigation that was completed by the Vermilion County Metropolitan Enforcement Group. During the plea today, Judge Derek Girton heard stipulated facts that on multiple occasions Austin sold heroin in Vermilion County during 2020 and 2021. There were further facts presented that on one of those occasions, Austin was stopped by the police and possessed a stolen firearm.

'We are thankful for the hard work of VMEG and the Danville Police Department and all the efforts taken in order to ensure dangerous drugs and drug dealers are removed from our community," stated State's Attorney Jacqueline Lacy.
