WHAT: Two Vehicle Personal Injury Traffic Crash
WHERE: Illinois Route 47 at Harvest Lane, Ford County
WHEN: July 6, 2022 at approximately 12:51 p.m.
VEHICLES: Unit 1- 2020 White International Truck-Tractor Semi-Trailer Combination
Unit 2- 2017 White Chevrolet Express Van
DRIVERS: Unit 1- Alejandro Zamudio, 26-year-old male from Hillside, IL
Unit 2- Pedro Tevez, 26-year-old male from Champaign, IL
PASSENGERS: Unit 2- Jordan Hill, 34-year-old male from Champaign, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Unit 2- Maitias Gonzalez, 28-year-old male from Champaign, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries.
Unit 2- Jose Monero, 45-year-old male from Champaign, IL – Transported by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries.
PRELIMINARY: A preliminary investigation indicates the following occurred: Unit 1 was traveling north on Illinois Route 47 just south of Gibson City, Ford County. Unit 2 was traveling north at the same location in front of Unit 1. The driver of Unit 2 stated he came to a stop while waiting for oncoming traffic to clear to make a left turn onto Harvest Lane. The driver of Unit 1 stated he did not realize Unit 2 had slowed as he approached. The driver of Unit 1 attempted to swerve to the left to avoid striking Unit 2 but was unsuccessful. Unit 1 struck Unit 2, causing Unit 2 to rollover. Both Unit 1 and Unit 2 drivers reported no injuries. All passengers of Unit 2 were transported by ambulance to an area hospital with minor injuries.
CHARGES: The driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
The driver of Unit 2 was cited for No Valid Driver’s License.
Unit 2 passenger Jordan Hill was cited for Failure to Wear Seatbelt.
