Hoopeston Police Report 7/16/2023

Criminal Trespass to Residence (people present) H23-3610 2023-5888

Time: 12:23pm

Location: 500 blk W Maple St

Complainant: 39 year old Hoopeston female

Arrested: Elyscha Wells (M) (25) of Rossville

Details: HPD was dispatched to the report of a civil disturbance. Upon an investigation, Mr. Wells

was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed. He was later transported to the PSB in

Danville to await arraignment.

 

Traffic Accident H23-3634

Time: 1:42PM

Location: W Orange St/S 6th Ave

Unit 1: 2012 Chrysler Town & Country driven by Justin D Little(37)(M) of Hoopeston

Unit 2: 2022 Ford Maverick driven by Eric L Staley(60)(M) of Hoopeston

Details: HPD and HFD was dispatched to an accident where Unit 2 was traveling east on W orange St turning left onto S 6th Ave when Unit 1 did not see Unit 2 and hit Unit 2 in the rear. No citations given, both units insured

 

Warrant Arrest (Vermilion County 20DT133) H23-3636

Time: 3:36PM

Location: 600 S 6th Ave

Arrested: James R Wood (42)(M) of Danville IL

Details: HPD officers were dispatched to the above location after being told a subject there was

wanted on a warrant. Mr. Wood was located and a computer search showed him to have an

active warrant out of Vermilion County. Mr. Wood was arrested and transported to HPD for

processing and later released with a Vermilion County Court date.

 

Battery, Unlawful Restraint H23-3640 2023-5937

Aggravated Domestic Battery, Attempted Murder H23-3643 2023-5932

Time: 8:22pm

Location: 600 blk E Honeywell

Complainant: 35 year old Hoopeston female

Arrested: John Menzo (30) (M) of Hoopeston

Details: HPD was called to the area for a male subject yelling and screaming at females in the area.

After an investigation, Mr. Menzo was located and arrested on battery and unlawful

restraint. HPD officers were also asked to do a welfare check involving an elderly female. She was found to have several injuries and Mr. Menzo was named as the suspect. He was arrested on aggravated domestic battery and attempted murder. He was processed and

later taken to the PSB in Danville to await arraignment.
