Beginning today, August 20, 2023 and going through Thursday, August 24, 2023, the City of Hoopeston will be opening city hall from 7:00 am – 7:00 pm to be used as a cooling center. Residents are reminded to stay hydrated, stay in air-conditioned rooms, stay out of the sun, and check up on relatives and neighbors. Take extra precautions if you work or spend time outside. Anyone overcome by heat should be moved to a cool and shaded location and call 9- 1-1. If your pets are outdoor animals, make sure they have plenty of fresh, cool water and have a shaded spot outdoors or make arrangements to bring them inside.
