The Hoopeston Jaycees are proud to announce that they will be resurrecting the Citizen of the Year award, previously awarded by the Hoopeston Chronicle, and are accepting nominations for the 2023 Citizen of the Year. Listed below are the criteria for the award: • Be a resident of the Hoopeston area (generally the Hoopeston Area school district boundaries). • Be over the age of 42. • Embody the Jaycee motto of “service to humanity is the best work of life!” If you know someone who meets those criteria and would like to nominate them, please go to www.hoopestonjaycees.org and click on the banner at the top to submit your nominee. Nominations will be accepted through December 29, 2023. The award will be presented at the 2024 Miss Hoopeston/Community Awards Ceremony on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at the Lorraine Theater.
