ILCS: Driving Too Fast for Conditions H25-3587 (Traffic Accident) Time: Location: Cited: Details: 6:35 p.m. 500 Blk. of S. 2nd Ave. Shawn McAfee (M) (26) of Hebron, IN Mr. McAfee was driving NB on S. 2nd Ave. A juvenile crossed the roadway after purchasing an item from an ice cream truck. The juvenile was struck by Mr. McAfee’s vehicle in the roadway. The juvenile was transported to Carle Hospital to be treated for injuries. The driver was cited and released from the scene.

Unit #1: 2016 Ford Escape driven by Lela Savage (F) (82) of Hoopeston

Unit #2: 2022 Chevrolet Colorado driven by James Russell (M) (38) of Hoopeston

Details: Unit #2 was traveling westbound on Orange when he came to the intersection

with Euclid Av and proceeded to make a right turn. Unit #1 was also traveling

westbound on Orange and struck Unit #2. She continued westbound leaving

the scene. Officers later located the vehicle, and the driver was given a citation

and a traffic court date.

Details: HPD officers stopped the vehicle Mr. Leppard was driving for a traffic violation.

a computer check revealed he did not possess a motorcycle endorsement and

was cited. He also received a traffic court date.

Location: 824 S. Dixie Hwy.

Arrested : Charity Mezo (F) (31) of Veedersburg, IN

Details: HPD officers conducted a traffic stop. Ms. Mezo was found to be driving with the above violations. Ms. Mezo was arrested and transported to HPD for processing then was later transported to the PSB in Danville to await arraignment. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Arrested: Thomas Brown (M) (30) of Worth, IL

Details: HPD officers conducted a traffic stop. Mr. Brown was arrested for driving on the above violations. He was transported to HPD for processing then was released with NTA’s to appear in Vermilion County Court.

Details: HPD officers stopped the vehicle Ms. Hoskins was driving for a traffic violation.

A computer check revealed her driver’s license was expired. She received a

traffic citation and traffic court date and was released from scene.
