CRIS Rural Mass Transit District will be no more.

The mass transit agency based in Danville is no longer able to provide rides in Vermilion, Ford and Iroquois Counties because the agency itself is dissolving. 

District representative Carol Timms cited a freezing of funding from IDOT as the reasoning.

“For those who have paid in advance for rides, we will provide reimbursements,” Timms said. “We want our constituents to please be advised that future rides will be cancelled. We are very sorry for this inconvenience and wish our riders well.”

Alternative transportation services are listed on the CRIS RMTD website to accommodate customers.

People have also expressed concerns regarding other programs offered with the CRIS branding. It should be noted that CRIS Rural Mass Transit and CRIS Healthy Aging are two completely separate entities.
