On September 24, 2026, Tichina Marshall (DOB: 7/23/1997), formerly of Danville, Illinois, 
pleaded guilty to Attempt First-Degree Murder, a class X felony, and was sentenced to 12 years 
in the Illinois Department of Corrections, followed by a term of 3 years mandatory supervised 
release. The defendant must serve 85% of the sentence. The plea and sentencing were presided 
over by Judge Karen E. Wall.
The People presented evidence that on May 26, 2025, officers with the Danville Police 
Department responded to the former Wendy’s on North Vermilion Street. Upon arrival, officers 
located the victim, who had been stabbed in the head, laying on the floor, bleeding 
uncontrollably, and nearly unconscious. During the investigation, detectives learned that the 
victim had been speaking with the manager in a small office area, when the defendant entered, 
armed with a knife, and told the victim, “I am going to kill you,” before striking the victim at 
least two times in the face and once on the top of the head with the knife. The defendant had 
previously threatened to kill the victim while they were working at Wendy’s one month prior to 
this incident. The crime was captured on surveillance video. The victim suffered a 3-centimeterdeep stab wound to the head and a fractured skull.
State’s Attorney Jacqueline Lacy said, “I would like to thank the victim for cooperating with our 
office throughout the criminal justice process. While no sentence can undo the lasting effects
caused by this defendant, this prison sentence reflects the violent nature of this attack and the 
devastating injuries suffered by the victim.” She added, “We are grateful to the Danville Police 
Department and their Criminal Investigations Division for their thorough work in this case. Our 
office remains committed to seeking justice for victims of violent crime and holding offenders 
accountable for their actions."
