Hoopeston Area Soccer falls to the Bunnies

Hoopeston Area fell to Fisher Gibson City 2-1. Fisher jumped out to a 1-0 lead with twenty minutes when Jacob Chittick with the assist going to Ben Thompson.  

Fisher Gibson City made the score 2-0 when the Cornjerkers were called for a penalty that led to the Bunnies having a penalty kick. Phillip Littel was able to beat Drayer to the left corner.  The Cornjerkers fought to cut the Bunnies lead in half when Diaz scored with twenty-two minutes left. Cornjerkers had some great opportunities late but was not able to tie things up. Derek Drayer had nine saves. 

The Cornjerkers record sits at 15-5-1 overall. The Cornjerkers will jump back into conference game Thursday at home against Danville Schlarman.

Hoopeston Area Soccer scores another win, Milford Volleyball and Hoopeston and Milford Golf Results

Hoopeston Area hosted Blue Ridge DeLand-Weldon Monday night and the Cornjerkers scored less than ninety seconds into the game to take an early lead when Isaias Diaz scored from Talen Gredy. Ben Brown scored on a throw-in fromNick Hofer who had three assists on the night to put Hoopeston Area up 2-0. The Cornjerkers went into the half-time with a 4-0 with goals from Kamerin Cade and Gredy.

In Second half Kamerin Cade made the score 5-0 with twenty-three minutes on a rebound. Eight minutes later Diaz got his second goal on the night on a rebound to round out the scoring making the final score 6-0. Derek Drayer earned his third win of the year saving all three shots in earning a shut-out. 

Cornjerkers will travel to Fisher to take on Fisher Gibson City team. Cornjerkers will be back at home on Thursday hosting Danville Schlarman.

Hoopeston Area Soccer and Volleyball 9/23/21

Thursday night the Cornjerker Soccer team was looking to increase their lead in the Vermilion Valley Soccer Standings between themselves and Oakwood/Salt-Fork after the Cornjerkers defeated the Comets early in the season the Oakwood/Salt Fork defeated the Cornjerkers in The Cornjerker Classic. The Comets scored first within less than eight minutes into the game when Senior Carlie Thompson scored from Freshman Saul Carrillo to make the game 1-0. After the Comets goal goalie Derek Drayer who had ten saves on the night along with a very good defense shut down the Cometes offense. Isaias Diaz tied the game up on a rebound to tie the game up with 24:36 left in the first half. 

Second half the Cornjerkers scored seven minutes into the half when Talen Gredy found Senior Ben Brown for the game winning goal. Senior Kayden Wallace finished the game up with a rebound to make the score 3-0 with eight minutes left.  

The 3-0 victory puts the Cornjerkers in the driver's seat to win the Vermilion Valley Conference as they sit 9-0 in conference play and 13-4-1 overall. 

The Cornjerkers will be back in action on Monday night against Blue Ridge.

 

In Volleyball Action:

Milford defeated Hoopeston 25-10,25-8

Hoopeston Area Soccer & Volleyball both WIN!

Hoopeston Area defeated Georgetown Ridge-Farm/Westville in a raining cold game by the score of 3-1. Harrison Woods scored to put the Cornjerkers up 1-0. Owen Root made the score 2-0 when Nick Hofer was able to chip Owen the ball for an assist. Ben Brown scored in the second half. 

Jace Bina scored the only Buffalo goal in the second half with the assist from Luke Barney. 

 

 

The Cornjerkers defeated the stubborn Comets tonight in a Vermilion Valley conference matchup 27-25, 19-25, 25-18 at Hoopeston.

Hoopeston Area Soccer and Volleyball scores 9/20/21

Hoopeston Area defeated Unity by the score of 8-0. Ben Brown had a great game scoring three goals and two assists. All of Ben's goals came in the first half. Kamerin Cade made things 1-0 less than two minutes into the game. Five minutes later Ben Brown was able to make the score 2-0 with the assist from Nick Hofer. Talen Gredy, had a goal and Gabe Joneikis scored on a penalty kick to make the score 6-0 at half. 

Second half Isaias Diaz scored to make it 7-0 less than five minutes which led the clock to be cut in half. Gredy scored the last goal of the night at the 17:03 mark.

Derek Drayer got the win saving one shot, and Kaleb Hollen replaced Drayer in goal, saving two shots for the shutout.

The Junior varsity played for an extra thirty minutes and they won 3-0.

The Cornjerkers will travel to Georgetown tomorrow to play Georgetown Ridge-Farm/Westville. The Cornjerkers record sits at 12-4-1 overall.

 

 

Despite five kills from Kaitlynn Lane and nine digs from Logan Watson, the Cornjerkers fell to a tough Judah Christian squad at home Monday night 14-25, 17-25. Hoopeston returns to action Tuesday night with a Vermilion Valley contest at home against the Oakwood Comets.

Hoopeston Area Soccer, Volleyball, Golf and Cissna Park Volleyball updates from 9/16/21

Hoopeston Area was down some starters Thursday night, but the bench stepped up in a big way with a 7-0 over Watseka. Owen Crase was able to make the score 1-0 when he chest the ball into the back of the net on a deflection off the hands of the Warrior goalie. Isaias Diaz had two unassisted goals on the night scored to make and later Talen Gredy and Diaz worked together making it 3-0 with twenty-three minutes left in the half. 

Cornjerkers tallied three more goals in the second half to cut the time in half. Preston VanDeVeer made it 5-0 when he was able to sky high to score on a corner kick from Gredy. Ben Brown scored his only goal on the night when freshman Phoenix Webber was able to make a pass leading Brown to the goal. Gredy made it 7-0 with 15:30 left in the game. 

The Cornjerkers record improves to 10-4-1 overall and a 7-0 in conference play. Cornjerkers will travel to Unity on Monday.

 

The Cornjerkers returned to their home court Thursday night and defeated the visiting Urbana University High squad 25-22, 25-16. Bre Crose led Hoopeston with six kills and five aces. Her effort was complemented by five aces from Logan Watson and four kills from Kaitlynn Lange. The Jerkers return to action next Monday at home against Judah Christian.

Hoopeston Area Soccer, Volleyball and Cissna Park Volleyball updates from 9/14/21

The Hoopeston Area Cornjerker Soccer team jumped back into VVC play against Iroquois West. The Cornjerkers improved their VVC record to 6-0 with a 4-1 victory. Kayden Wallace got the Cornjerkers on the board at the twenty minute mark of the first half by getting his head on the ball after Nick Hofer fired a throw-in pass to him. Less than two minutes later Talen Gredy found himself in a perfect spot to make it 2-0 after Hofer once again made a great crossing pass. Nick Hofer scored with five minutes and twenty-seven seconds to make the score 3-0. Iroquois West's only score came right before halftime when Andreade Santiago was able to convert after a Cornjerker mistake. 

The only goal of the second half was when goalie Owen Root punted the ball across the halfline and Talen Gredy took four dribbles and made a very nice shot in the lower left corner. Owen Root was the winning goalie with two saves. The Cornjerkers record sits at 9-4-1 overall and 6-0 in VVC. The Cornjerkers will host Watseka on Thursday. 

 

 

The Cornjerker Volleyball Team travelled to Salt Fork and lost to the hosting Storm 25-14, 25-10. They return home to face Urbana University High Thursday night.

Hoopeston Area Soccer, Volleyball and Cissna Park Volleyball updates from 9/13/21

Hoopeston Area Cornjerkers were back at it Monday night as they hosted Judah Christian and got the victory 6-2. Freshman Dylan Judy started in goal, saving two shots for his second win. Kaleb Hollen came in and finished the game by saving the only shot he had against him. Senior Nick Hofer made things 1-0 when he scored on a rebound. Cornjerkers made the score 2-0 when Talen Gredy was able to score thanks to Ben Brown cross. Judah Christian cut the lead in half weh Joey Limentato scored from Evan Payan. Isias Diaz made it 3-1 at halftime when he scored on a rebound. 

In the Second half the Cornjerkers scored fifty seconds when Talen Gredy took a corner kick and Preston VanDeVeer was able to jump high above to head the ball into the net. Ben Brown got his first of two goals on the night with a great throw-in from Nick Hofer. Judah fought to try to make it a game when Joey Limentato scored once again. Ben Brown and Isaias Diaz worked together to finish it off.

The Cornjerkers will be back in action tomorrow night in The Vermilion Valley Conference against Iroquois West at 4:30. The Cornjerkers record sits at 8-4-1 overall.

Hoopeston Season Record: 14 Wins / 15 Losses

 

The Hoopeston Area Cornjerkers suffered a close defeat in three sets at the hands of the visiting Westville Wildcats Thursday night, 17-25, 25-23, 20-25. Bre Crose led Hoopeston Area with five kills, followed by Kaitlynn Lange with four. Alexa Bailey contributed three blocks, and Logan Watson had two aces. Hoopeston drops to 6-4 with the loss and returns to action on 9/13 with a trip to St. Joseph-Ogden.

 

Hoopeston Area traveled to Rossville on Thursday evening to take on Bismark-Henning Rossville-Alvin. The Cornjerkers jumped out to a goal lead, when the first goal was scored by Ben Brown and the assist to Nick Hofer. Ten minutes later the two seniors once again worked together to get Ben Brown's second goal and Hofer's second of the half to make things 2-0. The Blue Devils fought right back with five minutes left before half-time Ethan Tutwiler was able to score on a rebound to cut the lead to one. Less than two minutes until half the Blue Devils Liam Oxendine was able to tie the score up thanks to Hayden Rice beautiful throw-in. 

Second half was all Cornjerkers when Brown scored three more goals in the second half making him five goals on the evening. Talen Gredy and once again Hofet set up Ben for two of his three goals in the second half. Derek Drayer and the defense took care of business after Brown's fifth goal to shut down the Blue Devils. Derek Drayer started in goal, saving ten of twelve shots while earning his first victory of the year after coming off knee issues. The 5-2 win puts the Cornjerkers at 6-2-1 overall and 5-0 in VVC play. 

This weekend the Cornjerkers will host the Conrnjerker Classic with the Cornjerkers opening up Friday at 4:00 against Bloomington Central Catholic. Saturday the Cornjerkers will play at 8:00 against Clifton Central and then Oakwood-Salt Fork at noon. The championship and third place game will start at 4:00.

Other teams competing in the tournament are Monticello, Iroquois West, Grant Park, St. Joe Ogden. 

Hoopeston Area Soccer scores another win

Hoopeston Area defeated Danville Schlarman by the score of 8-0. Talen Gredy got things started less than three minutes into the game on a rebound. Kayden Wallace made the game 2-0 two minutes later from a pass from Isaias Diaz. Ben Brown, Kamerin Cade with two goals, Talen Gredy with his second goal and Harrison Woods finished all the scoring going into halftime 7-0. 

The second half was cut down from forty minutes to twenty minutes. The lone goal of the second half belonged to Gabriel Joneikis with the assist from Mason Rush. Nick Hofer finished the night with two assists. 

Owen Root was the winning goalie with Dylan Judy and Derek Drayer all combined for the shut-out. 

Cornjerkers improved their VVC record to 4-0-0 and an overall record 5-2-1 heading into a big game on Thursday against Bismarck-Henning Rossville Alvin in Rossville beginning at 4:30

Area Volleyball Scores

The Cornjerkers travelled north to face the Cardinals of St. Anne on Tuesday night. Led by three aces from both Bre Crose and Kaitlynn Lange, four kills from Crose and Tobi West, and seven assists from Crose and West, Hoopeston charged to a 25-17, 25-14 win. Hoopeston's record stands at 6-3 as they return home Thursday evening for a Vermilion Valley conference match against Westville.

Hoopeston Area Soccer falls to SJO

 

Hoopeston Area was defeated by St. Joe Ogden by the score of 3-1. Hoopeston Area's only goal came when a Spartins defender knocked the ball into their own goal. Owen Root was the losing goalie, but saved six of the nine shots on goal from the Spartins. 

Hoopeston Area is 4-1-1 overall and will travel Friday to face off with a very talented St. Anne team.

Hoopeston Area Soccer scores another win

Hoopeston Area jumped back into VVC play Tuesday night looking to go 3-0 and be all alone in first place. The Cornjerkers got on the board first when Isaias Diaz was able to turn the corner and beat the goalkeeper on a great shot to make things 1-0 less than five minutes into the game. Cornjerkers took a two goal lead when Diaz was able to make a great pass to Telen Gredy who was able to get a great shot off. Oakwood-Salt Fork Comets were able to get on the board when Grant Powell received a pass from Joe Lashuay to get within one goal. 

Cornjerkers came out after half-time ready to put things away when senior Kayden Wallace was able to charge the goal to make the score 3-1 after Gredy was able to make the perfect cross to find Wallace. Root earned his fourth win of the year in goal saving seven of eight shots on goal from the Comets.

Cornjerkers ' record stands 4-0-1 overall and 3-0 in conference play. The Cornjerkers will be back home on Thursday taking on St. Joe-Ogden.
