Cissna Park Volleyball season ends with a record of 21-14-1

Grant Park defeats Cissna Park 25-21, 26-24.  Cissna Park finishes the season 21-14-1.

Regional Volleyball Action from 10/26/21

 

Milford defeats Dwight 25-8,25-10

 

 

 

Hoopeston Area travelled to St. Joe to compete in regional action for the second night in a row, this time to face 2A powerhouse and 16th-ranked Decatur St. Teresa. The Cornjerkers stayed close for the first half of the first set, at one point leading 8-6. However, the Bulldogs began to assert themselves and Hoopeston ended up falling 16-25, 9-25. Hoopeston ended the season with a 16-20 overall record, the best in at least 15 years and a victory in their first regional match. The team, which counted no seniors on its roster, finished third out of 9 teams in the Blue Ridge Invitational, fourth at the Vermilion County Tournament and went 2-3 at the Mahomet-Seymour Invitational to finish 13th out of 16 teams in a field loaded with 2A and 3A ranked programs.

Cornjerkers win 1st volleyball regional game

The Cornjerkers travelled to St. Joseph-Ogden Monday to face Westville in an IHSA regional matchup. In a reversal of the regular season match, Hoopeston defeated the scrappy Tigers 25-19, 25-21. Hoopeston advances to play Decatur St. Teresa Tuesday night at 5:30pm, again in St. Joe.

Hoopeston Area fell at home to Chrisman Thursday night in a hard-fought Vermilion Valley conference match up 23-25, 25-21, 21-25.

Cornjerker Volleyball from 10/18/21

In the third place match in the Vermilion County tournament held at Georgetown tonight, Hoopeston fell to Armstrong-Potomac in two sets 16-25, 21-25. The Cornjerkers return to action tomorrow night when they visit Georgetown-Ridge Farm for a Vermilion Valley conference match.

Area Volleyball Scores from 10/14/21

Hoopeston dropped their second consecutive match, this time to the visiting Watseka Warriors 20-25, 13-25. They return to action Saturday at 9AM in Georgetown where they begin the Vermilion County tournament by facing BHRA at 9AM.

Highschool Volleyball Scores from 10/7/21

The Cornjerkers travelled to face the Iroquois West Raiders tonight and came away with a 25-10, 25-15 victory. The win evened Hoopeston's overall record at 10-10 and 3-5 in conference action. Hoopeston returns to action Monday with another road trip, this time to Clifton Central.

Hoopeston Area clinched the outright Vermilion Valley Conference Championship for Soccer

 

Hoopeston Area clinched the outright Vermilion Valley Conference Championship by defeating Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin by the score of 3-2 in overtime. The Blue Devils took a 1-0 halftime lead when Logan Hall scored on a rebound. Second half Hoopeston Area Senior Ben Brown was able to tie the game up at one when Isaias Diaz made a great pass to help Brown to find some open space for the score. The Blue Devils answered back with a goal from Liam Oxendine with the assist to Hayden Rice. Cornjerkers were able to find their way into the box to get fouled to earn a penalty kick. Ben Brown stepped up and was able to make a great shot to make things 2-2. 

In overtime the fans and parents got to see both goalies make some great saves to keep things close going into the last ten minutes. Hoopeston Area sophomore Talan Gredy-Nelson was able to assist Ben Brown for his third goal of the night with less than two minutes left to make the score 3-2.

Derek Drayer was the winning goalie saving seven of nine shots he faced.

Before the game the Hoopeston Area High School recognized the six seniors before the game for their dedication to the soccer program and the great young men they have grown into. The program will miss these boys and wish them nothing but the best in the future. This was a great group of kids and the coaches really enjoyed having them these past four years. A lot of credit has to go to their parents, grandparents and other family members who raised them the right way in being very humble and outstanding individuals. The seniors are, Kamerin Cade, Kayden Wallace, Nick Hofer, Ben Brown, Isaias Diez, Derek Drayer.

Cornjerkers will try to sweep the conference on Thursday night as they travel to Gilman to take on Iroquois West.

Hoopeston suffered a tough three set defeat on the road at Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin tonight 19-25, 25-13, 20-25. The loss moved the Cornjerkers to 9-10 on the season and 2-5 in the Vermilion Valley with another road trip, this time to Iroquois West on the books for Thursday.

Cornjerker Soccer with another win!

Hoopeston Area defeated Clifton Central by the score 3-0. Talan Gredy-Nelson scored to make it 1-0 with twenty-five minutes left in the first half. Ben Brown made it 2-0 later in the half. 

Second half Cornjerkers added on with a Brown header for a 3-0 lead. Nick Hofer had a great game with his throw-in and chipping to Gredy-Nelson and Brown for three assists on the night. 

Derek Drayer stopped all 7 shots from the Comets and earned another victory and shut-out. 

Hoopeston Area will have their Annual Pink Night Kick Cancer on Tuesday against Bismarck-Henning Rossville-Alvin. The Cornjerkers will also recognize the seniors as they also look to win the conference out right.

Cornjerker with a win, Volleyball fought but came up short!

Hoopeston Area got off to a slow start and that allowed Schlarman to hang around and gain confidence with five starters out for various reasons. Noah Garriott made the score 1-0 with 10:28 left in the first half with the assist going to Avery Kelsey. It didn't take long  when Nick Hofer scored eighteen seconds later from Ben Brown to make things tied at one. Kamerin Cade got the game winning goal with 6:28 left in the first half on a deflection. 

Second half Ben Brown scored five of the Cornjerkers six goals in the second half. Isaias Diaz scored the other goal. Nick Hofer had three assists on the night with Gredy and Diaz each had an assist to put the Cornjerkers in the win column by the score 8-1.  

Cornjerkers will travel to Clifton Central on Monday, and will have their annual Pink Night along with senior night. Please come out and recognize the seniors as they take on Bismark-Henning Rossville-Alvin.

 

 

Despite five kills each from Lacie Breymeyer, Bre Crose and Kaitlynn Lange to go with three solo blocks from Charissa Johnson, the Cornjerkers fell in three sets 12-25, 25-23, 15-25 to the visiting Cissna Park TImberwolves. Hoopeston falls to 1-4 in conference play and returns to the court Monday with a visit to Schlarman Academy to kick off a busy week of Vermilion Valley volleyball action.
