Dennis Wade "Pa" Seals, 86, of Hoopeston

Dennis Wade “Pa” Seals, 86, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 11:15 P.M. Friday July 27, 2018 at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton in Paxton, IL.  He was born June 21, 1932, in Rossville, IL, the son of Wade and Laura (Rudy) Seals.  He married Agnes Osborn on August 21, 1952 in Danville, IL.  She survives.

He is survived by one daughter, Christina Denise (Daniel) Downing of Ash Grove, MO; one son, Kenneth Dennis (Janet) Seals of Hoopeston, IL; 6 grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wade and Laura Seals; his step-mother, Ora Seals; 3 sisters; 2 brothers; and 2 step-brothers.

Dennis worked as a farm hand for many years.  He served in the United States Army during the last of World War II.  He attended the Rossville Church of Christ.  Dennis enjoyed tinkering in his garage.

A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Wednesday August 1, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:00 A.M. Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Kevin Purdy officiating.  Burial will follow in Rossville Cemetery in Rossville, IL.  Military rites will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post No. 384.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Rossville Church of Christ 514 E. Attica St. Rossville, IL 60963.

Shala J. "Jeannie" Schmidt, 77, of Hoopeston

Jeannie Schmidt, 77, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 11:25 P.M. Sunday July 22, 2018 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston.  She was born October 26, 1940, in Milford, IL, the daughter of William and Clarabelle (McIntyre) Anderson.  She married David Schmidt in Decatur, IL.  He preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Shala (Jeff) Funk of Hoopeston, IL; one son, Sam (Angie) Bell of Hoopeston, IL; two sisters, Roberta (Clifton) Lawson of Danville, IL and Marilyn (Buddy) Weber of Valparaiso, IN; two brothers, Bob (Judy) Anderson of Wheatfield, IN and Tim (Starla) Anderson of Cissna Park, IL; four grandchildren, Natalie (Brian) Pettice, and Carly, Isaiah, and Hannah Bell; three great-grandchildren, Vaida, Chris, and Mackenzie; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Shirley Watson and Dottie Perigo; and one brother, Tom Anderson.

Jeannie enjoyed crafts such as painting and making floral arrangements.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Thursday July 26, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, IL.

Robert "Dick" A. Norris, 83, of Hoopeston

Robert “Dick” A. Norris, 83, of Hoopeston, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Thursday, July 19, 2018, at Heritage Health.

Mr. Norris was born on May 24, 1935, in Burkesville, Kentucky, the son of John and Crettie (Scott) Norris.  He married Mary Margaret Bailey on May 30, 1959, in Hoopeston. She preceded him in death on February 20, 2002.

 He is survived by one daughter- Judy (David) Burk of Cincinnati, Ohio; two sons- Mike (Sandy) Norris of Colorado Springs, Colorado and Rob (Lori) Norris of Florence, Kentucky; five grandchildren- Elyse (Timothy) Wells, Alyson (Leer) Sobee, Avery Norris, Brennan Norris and Sarah Norris; one great-grandson-Connor Wells; one brother- Billie Norris of Hoopeston; two sisters- Ruby Milton of San Antonio, Texas and Mary Lou Hickey of Dunlap, Tennessee; sister-in-law- Treedy Norris of Hoopeston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, two brothers and two sisters.

Mr. Norris served in the United States Army from 1955 to 1958.  He worked as a machine operator at Tee Pak in Danville, for over 30 years, until his retirement in 1997.  He enjoyed walking, fishing, woodworking and he was an avid St. Louis Cardinals fan.

Graveside Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, July 21, 2018, at Floral Hill Cemetery, with Pastor Gary Milton officiating.  Full military honors will be conducted by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.  Memorials may be made to Carle Hospice.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Dick’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at: www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.

Donald Lee "Bud" Ervin Jr., 56, of Hoopeston

Donald Lee “Bud” Ervin Jr., 56, of Hoopeston, IL., passed away at 10:55 P.M., Tuesday, July 17, 2018, at the Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center.  He was born November 1, 1961, the son of Donald and Joyce (Hickerson) Ervin Sr.

 

He is survived by his mother Joyce of Hoopeston; one sister, Regina Ervin of Hoopeston; one brother Eric Ervin of Hoopeston, and six nieces and nephews, Jarred Stone, Michael Ferrell, Daniel Ferrell, Ethan Ervin, Justin Weston, and Matthew Ervin.

 

He is preceded in death by his father and one brother Tony Ray Ervin.

 

He graduated from the U of I with a Bachelor’s Degree.

 

Per his wishes cremation rites will be accorded.

Anna Marie "Ann" Clouse, 95, of Hoopeston

Anna Marie “Ann” Clouse, 95, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 7:05 A.M. Thursday July 5, 2018 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston, IL.  She was born February 28, 1923 in Iroquois County, IL, the daughter of Oscar and Mamie (Johnson) Carlson.  She married Earl E. Clouse on February 20, 1942 at her parent’s home in Hoopeston, IL.  He preceded her in death on January 24, 2001.

She is survived by two sons, Curt (Marilyn) Clouse of Cherry Valley, IL and Stan (Margo) Clouse of West Fargo, ND; one sister, Helen Howard of South Holland, IL; 4 grandchildren, Derek (Anna) Clouse, Leigh Ann (Tim) White, Neil (Stacey) Clouse, and Ryan (Noelle) Clouse; 7 great-grandchildren, Lucia Clouse, Brennan and Jack White, Drew and Ben Clouse, and Katie and Cooper Clouse.  She is also survived by several nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother-in-law, Woodrow Howard.

Anna was a homemaker.  She was a member of the First Christian Church Disciples of Christ in Hoopeston.  She served as the secretary/treasurer of the Jolly Dozens and the Marry Circle, was on the membership committee for the Hoopeston Historical Society and volunteered at the Hoopeston Nursing Home for 37 years.  Anna loved to play games especially Bunko and Euchre.

A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Tuesday July 10, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Rev. Tom Cici officiating.  Burial will follow in the East Lynn Cemetery in East Lynn, IL.

Darren Thomas Rust, 34 of Rural Cissna Park

Darren Thomas Rust, 34 of Rural Cissna Park died at 3:51 p.m. Sunday, July 1, 2018, in rural Rankin.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, July 7, 2018, at Grace Lutheran Church, Rankin with Rev. Jennifer Hartweg-Brown officiating. Burial will follow in Rankin Union Cemetery, Rankin.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Friday, July 6, at Baier Family Funeral Services, 406 E. Pells Street, Paxton and one hour before the funeral service beginning at 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Grace Lutheran Church, Rankin.

Darren was born June 16, 1984 in Urbana the son of Thomas Wayne and Barbara L. Kuchenbrod Rust. He married Nicole Reno.

He is survived by his parents of Rural Cissna Park; a son, Levi Thomas Rust; one brother, Travis (Abigail) Rust of Rural Rankin; paternal grandfather, Wayne Rust of Rural Rankin; maternal grandmother, Barbara Kuchenbrod of Armstrong; maternal grandfather, Harry Kuchenbrod of Pensacola, Florida; a niece, Adilynn, a nephew Nolan and numerous aunts and uncles.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandmother, Jean Rust.

Darren graduated from Cissna Park High School in 2002 and from Parkland College with an Associate’s Degree in Diesel Mechanics. He was a diesel mechanic for Birkey’s Farm Store, Hoopeston for more than ten years.

He was baptized and confirmed at Grace Lutheran Church, Rankin. He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and turning wrenches. Darren loved to “rawk”. His greatest love was his son, Levi.

Norma Jean Deck, 80, of Hoopeston

Norma Jean Deck, 80, of Hoopeston, Illinois, passed away at 5:25 a.m. on June 28, 2018, at her home.

A Celebration of Norma Jean Deck’s Life will be at 11: 00 a.m. Tuesday, July 3, 2018, at the Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, with Rev. John Franklin officiating.  Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  She will be laid to rest in Floral Hill Cemetery.

 

Rosemary Reed, 87, of Hoopeston

Rosemary “Rosie” Reed, 87, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 11:35 P.M. Sunday July 1, 2018 at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center.  She was born February 18, 1931, in Henning, IL, the daughter of Leonard and Aural (Turner) Misner.  She married Wayne “Puzz” Reed on March 29, 1949, at the Antioch Church of Christ in rural Rossville, IL.  He preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Cindy Reed of Danville, IL; one son, Dennis (Kathy) Reed of Prescott Valley, AZ; one sister, June (Andrew) Nebesnyk of Bismarck, IL; one brother, Dean (Ruth) Misner of Hoopeston, IL; special niece and nephew, Dave and Darlene Musk, who were always there to help; great-nieces and great- nephews, Adam Musk, Allison Allison, Donald Wayne Reed, and Jennifer Young, who were like grandchildren to her; step-grandchildren, Josh Stout and Crystal Stout; and many Reed and Misner nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Rosemary worked at Hoopeston High School as a school cook for 25 years.  She was a member of the Cheneyville Church of Christ and the VFW Ladies Auxiliary.  She loved bowling and spending time with her family and extended family.

A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Thursday July 5, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday July 6, 2018 at the funeral home, with Rev. Roger Evans officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.
