Richard Lamie, 83, of Watseka

Richard Lamie, 83, off Watseka passed away on September 29th, 2020 at his home.

 

A visitation is set for Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka from 2:00pm-4:00pm

 

At this time, the family will be hosting a private funeral service and burial.

Mark Steven Howe, 64, of Watseka, passed away on Friday, September 25th, 2020 at his daughter's home in Watseka. 

 

Visitation will be held Friday, October 2nd, 2020 from 4-8p.m. at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka.

 

Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, October 3rd, 2020 at 11:00a.m., also at the Funeral home. Burial will follow at the Oak Hill Cemetery in Watseka.

Carroll O. "Speed" Crozier, 81 of Hoopeston

Carroll O. “Speed” Crozier, 81, passed away at 7:37 P.M. Saturday, September 26, 2020 at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center.  He was born October 13, 1938, at home in New Hebron, IL, the son of Alva and Edna (Lawrance) Crozier.  He married Elizabeth Hunter on January 20, 1965 in Danville.  She preceded him in death. 

He is survived by one daughter, Cheryl (Terry) Mullen of Williamsport, IN; two sons, Jerry Ford of Aurora, IL and Carroll Crozier of Lafayette, IN; one brother, Charlie (Judi) Crozier of Hoopeston, IL; one grandson, Joe (Dara) Geyer of Belfast, NY; two great grandchildren, Daniel Geyer and Braeden Geyer of Belfast, NY and one special friend, Helen Compton. 

Along with his wife, he was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Harry, Jerry, Darrell, and Bill; his son, John; three grandsons; and one great grandson.  

Speed was a mechanic for several years before going to Hyster Lift Company for twenty years and then to Stokley’s for ten years.  He was a picker and handyman.  He enjoyed listening to and playing music, baking pies, hunting, catfishing, and attending family gatherings. 

A visitation will be held 5:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday, September 30, 2020 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.   A private family funeral will be held followed by a public graveside service at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, October 1, 2020 at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland, IL with Pastor John Morris officiating.

Robert Louis "Bob" Lusk Jr., 83

Robert Louis “Bob” Lusk Jr., 83, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 7:45 A.M. Friday September 25, 2020 at his home.  He was born February 22, 1937, in Danville, IL, the son of Robert Louis Lusk Sr. and Alberta Mae (Felgenhauer) Lusk.  He married Shirley Ann Byers on November 25, 1956 and together they had 3 children whom survive: daughter, Jeannie (John) Zollar of Rossville, IL; and sons, Randy (Monique) Lusk of Rossville, IL and Michael (LuAnn) Lusk of Alvin, IL. 

He is also survived by 7 grandchildren, Trisha (Allen) Willard, Amanda (Montrell) Hill, Jared Zollar, Tom (Amanda) Lusk, Jacob (Maci) Zollar, James Zollar, and Jenna Zollar; 10 great-grandchildren, Evan Willard, Emilee Furrow, Aubrey Furrow, Aryn Willard, Izaiah Lusk, Braydn, Faith, and Landen Zollar, Emma Zollar, and Colton Lusk and one more on the way; two great-great-granddaughters, Khadija and Charlee; and one nephew, Mark (Rusty) Anderson. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister and brother-in-law, Carolyn (Forrest) Anderson; one great-granddaughter, Andi Mae Willard; and one nephew, Richard Anderson. 

Bob started his working career farming north of Rossville and then co-owned Lazy L Western Store in Rossville.  He co-owned Blue Boy Chemical Company in Henning and later became a fertilizer plant manager.  He later co-owned and operated P & E I Truck Lines Inc. in Rossville and CIM Trucking in Danville for several years.  Bob was very active in the Rossville community and had previously served as mayor of the Village of Rossville.  He was a past member of the Rossville Unit 237 school board and later was a member of the Rossville - Alvin CUSD #7 school board.  He was a member of the Rossville Commercial Club where he helped put on the annual fireworks display, helped with the annual Rossville horse shows, and truck and tractor pulls.  Bob was also a member of the FFA, the Square Dance Club, and the Moose Lodge. Later in life, he moved to Florida where he was a RV salesman.  After returning to Rossville, he served as a trustee on the Village of Rossville board.  Bob enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren especially teaching them about gardening. 

A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Wednesday September 30, 2020 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  A graveside service will be held at 1:30 P.M. Wednesday at the Rossville Cemetery in Rossville, IL, with Rev. John Franklin officiating.

Betty J. Margrey, 93, of Cissna Park, IL

Betty J. Margrey, 93, of Danville and formerly of Cissna Park passed away on Wednesday, September 16, 2020 at Colonial Manor in Danville. She was born on February 7, 1927 in Watseka, the daughter of Jesse L. and Faye (Hedge) Trumble. She married Dent Margrey in Watseka on May 7, 1950 and he preceded her in death on December 17, 2002. She was also preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Warren H. Trumble, Jesse D. Trumble, and John F. Trumble; two sisters, Vivian F. Trumble and Helen G. Kaufman; and two brother in laws, Clyde Robert “Bob” Margrey and John Marshall.

 

Surviving are one daughter, Debbie (Paul) Hill of Danville; two grandchildren, Michael Paul (Teah) Hill of Paris, IL and Ashlea Vernitajane (Jordan) Burgh of Terre Haute, IN; one sister, Mae (Ted) Horner of Watseka; two sister in laws, Shirley Trumble of Crescent City and Jo Marshall of Otto, NC; and many nieces and nephews.

 

Mrs. Margrey was a member of Cissna Park United Methodist Church.

 

Cremation rites have been accorded by Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park. Graveside services will be at 1:00 pm on Monday, September 21, 2020 at Onarga Cemetery in Onarga.

Margaret Callahan, 90, of Watseka, IL

Margaret L. Callahan, 90, of Watseka passed away on September 15, 2020 in Watseka. She was born on April 16, 1930 in Watseka, the daughter of Charles and Hazel (Laird) Callahan and they preceded her in death one brother, Bob; and one sister, Dorothy.

 

She is survived by two sisters, Wanda (Leroy) Fisher of Watseka and Floy Anne Callahan of Watseka; and seven loving nieces and nephews, Joy Lee, Cheryl Ann, Karla Jean, Mark, Janet, Jill, and Melisa.

Margaret was an avid reader and enjoyed playing cards.

 

Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm on Saturday, September 19, 2020 at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.

Peggy E. Hofbauer, 76, of Cissna Park, IL

Peggy Elaine Griswold Hofbauer, 76, of Cissna Park, Illinois, passed away at home on September 15, 2020 after a lengthy and hard-fought battle with health issues. She had a passion for life; held an unwavering faith in God; and went out of her way to serve others. Peggy had a joyous spirit even when dealing with physical discomfort. She was dearly loved by her family, friends and acquaintances.

 

Peg was born on December 21, 1943 to Juanita Ione Forest Griswold Thompson and Harold McClellon Griswold. After graduating from Watseka High School in 1962, she married Larry Ray Hofbauer at the First United Methodist Church in Watseka, Illinois on August 5, 1962. They moved to Franklin, Indiana, where she began her first job working for Lehnkamp Realty & Insurance. Peg and Larry then created a life in Cissna Park, Illinois where Peg worked at Jim’s Café, and then for many years at Lober’s Café. She also worked for The ARC of Iroquois County, and was a volunteer for Hospice of Iroquois County. The Chicago Cubs were a very enjoyable part of her life, and she shared that enthusiasm with her beloved brother, husband and family. She was also an avid golfer and was a member of Lakeview Country Club.

 

She is survived by her husband, Larry Hofbauer of Cissna Park; her son, Jeff (Debbie) Hofbauer of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; and her son, Todd (Michelle) Hofbauer of Western Springs, Illinois. She is survived by three treasured grandchildren; Brent (Cecilia) Hofbauer of Little Rock, Arkansas; Zach Hofbauer of Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Jade Hofbauer of Bronx, New York; and two great granddogs; Miley and Javier. She is survived by her sister, Judy (Bill) Putnam.

 

Peg was predeceased by her daughter, Lisa Elaine Hofbauer and son, Brent Douglas Hofbauer; her parents, Juanita Griswold Thompson and Harold McClellon Griswold and her brother, Gary Griswold. Peggy will be missed more than words can say.

Marilyn Nally Stanton, 93, of Des Moines Iowa, ( Formerly of Watseka, IL) passed away on Tuesday, June 9th, 2020 at The New Homestead in Gutherie Center, Iowa.

Guinivere Rose "Gwen" Swartz, 87, of Wellington, IL

Guinivere Rose “Gwen” Swartz, 87, of Wellington, IL, passed away at 10:29 A.M. Saturday September 12, 2020 at Watseka Rehab in Watseka, IL.  She was born November 8, 1932, in Hoopeston, IL, the daughter of Guy and Bessie (Morfey) Shinneman.  She married Delmar C. Swartz on December 1, 1956 in Orangeville, IL. He preceded her in death.

She is survived by one daughter, Claudia (Wes) Carter of Hoopeston, IL; two sons, Stan Swartz of Wellington, IL and Kevin (Sue) Swartz of Urbana, IL; one sister-in-law, Donna Judy of Hoopeston, IL; six grandchildren, Sean Knoll, Jordan (Abby) Carter, Phillip (Chanterelle) Swartz, Jenna (Steve) Keller, BethAnn (Steve) Schneider, and Brenna Swartz; four great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her parents; sister and brother-in-law, Guyneth (Gardiner) Wyman; and brother-in-law, Duane Judy.

Guinivere worked as a switchboard operator for the Hoopeston Phone Co. in the early 1950’s.  She then became a farmer’s wife and homemaker, caring for her children and later, grandchildren, attending all their activities.  She was a member of the Prairie Green Church of Christ where she served on the fellowship committee for many years.  Guinivere was an avid walker, enjoyed her bowling league team, and she loved the fall season and harvest.

A private graveside service will be held at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, with Rev. Dustin Wells officiating.

Barbara Regena Edmonds, 86, of Danville,

 

Barbara Regena Edmonds, 86, of Danville, passed away at 4:14 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2020, at her home.

Barbara was born on July 12, 1934, in Parke County, Indiana, the daughter of Charles Homer and Myrtle A. (Delp) Thomas.

She is survived by two grandchildren- Matthew David (Sandy) Reynen, Nicole Lynn Foster; one special grandson- Matthew Skylar Musson; eight great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, son- Andrew Reynen, seven sisters and one brother.

Barbara attended Rossville High School.  She was the owner/operator of Barb’s (formerly Deacon’s), in Danville.  She enjoyed reading, animals and loved spending time with her grandchildren.

Jason Paul Fancher, 47, of Milford

Jason Paul Fancher, 47, of Milford passed away on August 27, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana. He was born September 22, 1972 in Kankakee, the son of Franklin and Jerrie (Holse) Fancher.
He is survived by his father, Franklin (Rebecca) Fancher of Gilman; his mother, Jerrie (Joe) Craighead of Milford; sister, Melissa Fancher-Osborn of Milford; daughter, Sheanice (Alex) Fancher of Danville; nephews, Michael and Jordan Mann of Milford; step-sister, Sarah Nambo and family of Streator; step-brother, Joe Nambo and family of Aroma Park; aunts, Peggy Lamie of Wedron and Karen Silfies of Ashkum; uncle, Don (Anita) Holse of Livingston, TX; former wife and special friend, Melanie Austin; special maternal cousins, Jay, Keri and Brent Silfies; and special paternal cousin, Michelle Lamie.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and two uncles, Bobby Parker and David Fancher; and one aunt, Cheryl Keister.
Jason was very artistic and his passion was tattooing. He enjoyed camping, fishing, bowling, and spending time with his family and friends.
Memorial services will be at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday, September 12, 2020 at Cox-Knapp Funeral Home in Paxton (142 W. Patton). Visitation will follow the memorial service until 7:00 p.m. at the funeral home. The Knapp Funeral Home in Milford will be assisting with arrangements.

Vernon Fink II, 69, of Tab, IN

Vernon Fink II, 69, of Tab, IN, passed away on Saturday, September 5, 2020 at his home.  He was born January 4, 1951, the son of Vernon and Marjorie (Sides) Fink.  He married Roberta Miller on April 29, 1971 at the Nazarene Church.  She survives. 

He is also survived by two sons, Vernon Fink III of Tab, IN and Daryl (Rhonda) Fink of Rossville, IL; one sister, Darla (Frank Jr.) Crawford of Hoopeston, IL; three brothers, Robert (Teresa) Fink of MS, Marty Fink of Hoopeston, IL, and Kevin Fink of Hoopeston, IL; two grandchildren, Danyel and Baylee Fink, and one great grandchild, Ava Fink. 

Vernon was preceded in death by his parents, one sister, Joye Kholer, two brothers, George Carswell and Tracy Fink, and one son, Michael Fink.  

For fifteen years, Vernon worked at TruFlex. 

Per his wishes, cremation rites will be accorded.  A memorial service will be held 1:00 P.M. EDT Saturday, September 12, 2020 at the family home in Tab, IN.

William A. Suckach Jr. 91, of Watseka, IL passed away on Firday, September 4th, 2020 at Sheldon Healthcare.

Robert L. "Bob" Hatfield, 76, of Hoopeston

Robert L. “Bob” Hatfield, 76, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 10:02 A.M. Friday September 4, 2020 at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City, IL.  He was born February 21, 1944, in Danville, IL, the son of Robert G. and Mary L. (Lee) Hatfield.  He married Paula A. Nolan on April 12, 1964, at the Hoopeston United Methodist Church.  She survives in Hoopeston. 

He is also survived by two daughters, Julie A. (Kevin) Roskopf of Hoopeston, IL and Amy L. (Todd) Rush of Hoopeston, IL; one son, Richard L. (Paula J.) Hatfield of Dahlgren, IL; two sisters, Betty (Wilbur) Knight of Doni, TX and Anne (Chuck) Murray of Grays Lake, IL; four brothers, Ed (Anne) Hatfield of Lisle, IL, Don (Lana) Hatfield of Circleville, OH, Dan (Marian) Hatfield of Robinson, IL, and Steve (Sarah) Hatfield of Edisto Island, SC; ten grandchildren; 5 great-grandchildren; four aunts, Margaret Sims, Jean Eighner, Arlene Miller, and Louise Cantwell; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his parents. 

Robert worked as a natural gas utilityman for CIPS-Ameren for 48 years until his retirement.  He was a member of the Hoopeston United Methodist Church where he had previously served as a church trustee.  He was a past Hoopeston school board member for 19 ½ years and was a member of the Hoopeston Lions Club.  Bob enjoyed spending time with his family and grandkids and helping his son farm. 

A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday September 8, 2020 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  A private family funeral service will be held with a public graveside service being held at 11:15 A.M. Wednesday September 9, 2020 at East Lynn Cemetery in East Lynn, IL.

Sharon Kay (Claypool) Drennan, 80, of Alvin

Sharon Kay (Claypool) Drennan, 80, of Alvin, IL, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living in Hoopeston.  She was born on May 4, 1940, in Rossville, IL, the daughter of Roy and Madeline (Stump) Claypool.  She married Clarence Drennan on December 20, 1970 at the Rossville Church of Christ.  

She is survived by her husband, Clarence; two step-sons, Mike (Rita) Drennan and Tim (Chris) Drennan; four grandchildren, Shawn (Becky) Drennan, Allen (Brandi) Drennan, Paul Drennan, and Ashley (Gabe) Shonk; eight great-grandchildren, Morgan Drennan, Tristan Drennan, Bishop Drennan, Alissa Shonk, Aubrey Shonk, Keira Shonk, Chloe Shonk, and Kenton Shonk; one aunt, Ruth Stump; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one stepson, Kevin Drennan; one sister, Viola (Breck) Henke; one brother, Larry (Madelyn) Claypool; one infant sister, Betty Claypool; and one infant brother, Charlie Claypool. 

Sharon was a homemaker and sold Avon for over 25 years.  In her earlier years, she worked by her mother’s side managing restaurants in Rossville and Bismarck.  She was a Christian and read the Bible through 3 times which she enjoyed speaking about.  Sharon and Clarence enjoyed spoiling several dogs over the years and even a cat early on.  Sharon’s hobbies included playing cards and board games, collecting mice figurines and Avon knickknacks, and talking to her family members on the phone.  She enjoyed eating out at Merita’s Family Restaurant in Rossville. She also enjoyed visiting with her nieces and nephews and attending family gatherings. 

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday September 8, 2020 at Bethel Cemetery in rural Alvin, IL, with Pastor Bruce Thornsbrough officiating.

Joan Lee Ehrhardt, 80, of Watseka, IL passed away on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020 at Sheldon Healthcare.

 

A funeral service is scheduled for Saturday, Septeember 5th, 2020 at 11:00a.m. at Baier Funeral Home in Watseka with a visitation starting at 10:00a.m. 

 

A seperate visitation will take place Friday, September 4th, 2020 at Baier Funeral Home in Watsseka from 5:00p.m. - 7:00p.m.

Rolla Dolph, 75, of Rural Onarga

Rolla Charles Dolph, 75 of Onarga passed away at his home on Saturday, August 29, 2020. He was born to SGT Rolla and Alvena (Kresin) Dolph on Saturday 30 June 1945 in Champaign, Illinois. He attended Unit 7 Schools and graduated from Unity High School in 1963. He furthered his education by attending Eastern Illinois University where his major was Education.
His education was cut short by the Military Draft in 1965. Rolla entered the U S Army and accepted numerous special assignments. In 1999 he retired with rank of SFC. His military assignments included: Troop C/1st Squadron/1st Armored Cav Regiment, 2/130 Infantry Bn Illinois National Guard – Urbana, U S Army Reserve Forces Schools – 5035th/5045th/5034th and 1092nd as Senior Instructor for Military Occupation Skills of Nuclear/Biological and Chemical and Combat Medic, 330 Medical Bde, 84th Training Division- Milwaukee, 3rd MEDCOM in Saudi Arabia as NBC Advisor and Instructor for Combat Life Saver Course, and OCAR (Office of the Chief of the Reserves) as a Representative and Instructor for Weapons of Mass Destruction and Conferences.
Rolla developed a parallel career field to the Army by acquiring the knowledge and skills of HVAC and Building Maintenance. While working in the Champaign area for Illinois Bell Telephone Company as a Building Mechanic he was promoted to Building Supervisor in Alton, Collinsville and East St Louis. Later he worked at Mercy Hospital-Urbana, Johnson Controls-Fitchburg Federal Building, MA as Facility Manager, a similar career path was with Sears as an Appliance Technician and HVAC servicing in Champaign and Suburbs of Chicago. He was promoted to Parts Supervisor for Bannockburn Repair Center. After Sears he worked for Lincoln’s Challenge in Rantoul and Security for Illinois Security Services –Chicago.
Rolla’s parents Alvena and Rolla are both deceased as well as his first wife Barbara. Rolla married Barbara Jo Rogers in 1968. They had two wonderful children a boy, Rolla C (Janet) Dolph Junior of Bismarck, IL and a girl, Regina Caroline (Dolph) Johnson of Farmer City, IL and her sons, Dylan and Jacob. Rolla married Kathleen M (Sundquist Barrett) Dolph in 1996.
Rolla received acknowledgement for his special talents: U S Army Commendation Medal (awarded by the 3rd MEDCOM for special projects to include field testing of ANBACIS (Automated Nuclear, Biological and Chemical Information System) during Desert Shield/Storm/Provide Comfort, Special Patriot Ward presented by AR PERSCOM (Army Personnel Command) - St. Louis and Expert Field Medic Badge awarded by 1092nd Reserve School Boston, MA..
Rolla was always interested in new projects such as: Amateur radio call sign KB9JJJ, computer repair, Marksman with pistol and rifle, photography with dark room, music listening and playing with organ and accordion. His interests included membership in VFW, DAV, American Legion, American Red Cross (Shelter management and Instructor CPR and First Aid), SKYWARN a Storm Spotter, and ESDA / FEMA.
Visitation will be held on Wednesday, September 2, 2020 from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park. Bishop Anthony Ronstadt will officiate. Private burial with graveside military rites will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2020 at Danville National Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to The National Desert Storm and Desert Shield War Memorial in Washington D.C. or the Iroquois County Animal Rescue.

Karen Sue Graves, 81, of Veedersburg, IN

Karen Sue Graves, 81, of Veedersburg, IN, passed away at 10:22 P.M. Sunday August 30, 2020 at Bickford Senior Living in Crawfordsville, IN.  She was born June 26, 1939 in Danville, IL, the daughter of Nathan and Hazel Hale.  She married Bill Graves on January 12, 1992 in Reno, NV.  He survives in Veedersburg, IN. 

She is also survived by one daughter, Kerri Kyle of Rossville, IL; one son, Mark Robinson of Indianapolis, IN; one sister, Dody Tennyson of Surprise, AZ; and two grandchildren, Dallas and Mason Robinson. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Ronnie Hale. 

Karen was a self-employed hairdresser in Perrysville, IN and later worked as a secretary at the Veteran’s Administration in Danville, IL.  She enjoyed golfing, going to horse shows and attending her granddaughter, Dallas’, show choir performances.  She loved her dog, Lizzie and had a special place in her heart for cats.  Karen enjoyed life and being around people. 

Per her wishes, she will be cremated.
