Gordon Lee “Gordy” Coffey, 85, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 6:15 A.M. Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born on July 26, 1941, in Paducah, KY, the son of Richard Lee and Elma Jesse (Riley) Coffey. He married Christine Williams and she preceded him in death. He later married Donna Vaughn in Paducah, KY, in 1982 and she preceded him in death.

He was also preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Anita “Sissy” Coffey and Judy Lynn Coffey; his siblings, Margie Pickett, Shirley Cross, Lou Voyles, Wendell Coffey, and Jackie Coffey; and one great-granddaughter, Jaylena Kay Coffey.

He is survived by his children, Linnie (Linda) Coffey, Richey (Kelly) Coffey, Chad (Amy) Coffey, Scotty Brant, Patty Baker, Wendy (Gene) Thompson, Dena (Don) Coffey, Amy (Becky) Bogard, Stacey Brant, and Donna Kay Brant; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren including Dezmond Brant whom he was very close to; and several nieces and nephews.

Gordy worked for Silver Brothers for many years and then for Demeter Elevator. He later worked for Kaufman Grain in Rossville and then for Rick Kentner until his retirement. He attended Morning Star Ministries in Rossville. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns and NASCAR, and attending stock car races in Boswell.

Visitation will be held 10:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Morning Star Ministries, 201 N. Chicago St., Rossville, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at the church with Pastor Dan Mikel officiating. Burial will follow in Potomac Cemetery in Potomac, IL.

Amy Francene Elizabeth (Moreman) Keen, age 87 of Urbana, IL and formerly of Potomac & Effingham, went home to be with her Lord and Savior on September 9, 2026.

Amy was born on January 9, 1939, in Danville, IL to Lee Herbert and Frances Zulieme (Hart) Moreman.

She attended schools in Vermilion County.

On April 14, 1956, she married Jerry L. Keen at Muncie Baptist Church in Muncie, IL. He preceded her in death on June 20, 2002.

She is survived by their five children, Brenda (Bob Gullion) Keith of Gainesville, FL, Penny Canavan of Gibson City, Lynda (Tim) Meuser of Kenosha, WI, Jerry (Karen) Keen of St. Joseph and Jackie (Kevin) Brown of Concord, NC; ten grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; sister Kathleen Murray of Danville; and special daughter-in-law Yasemin Keen of Burr Ridge. She was preceded by her parents; brother Linden Moreman; son-in-law Eric Keith; and grandsons Michael Meuser and Kevin Keith.

Amy spent most of her life as a housewife and mother and later helped manage Doedtman Apartments while her and Jerry lived in Effingham. Over the years she was a member at First Baptist Church in Danville, then Crossroads Baptist Church in Effingham and Calvary Baptist in Urbana. She accepted Jesus as her savior at age 11.

Family viewing will be held from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Monday, September 14, 2026, at Blurton Funeral Home in Potomac with graveside services held immediately after at Potomac Cemetery.  The Blurton Funeral Home is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Edith Marie Sims, 96, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 8:51 A.M., Friday September 4, 2026, at Gibson Area Hospital in Gibson City, IL, and her beloved husband of 73 years, James Edward “Ed” Sims, 95, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 10:30 P.M. Sunday, September 6, 2026, at Williamsport Nursing and Rehabilitation in Williamsport, IN.

Edith was born on December 14, 1929, in Iroquois County, IL, the daughter of George A. and Mildred (Allen) Dewey. She worked in Human Resources at FMC in Hoopeston for over 30 years until her retirement. She enjoyed golfing and was a member of Hubbard Trail Country Club. She also enjoyed bowling, sewing, tending to her flowers, and caring for hummingbirds.

Ed was born on October 2, 1930, in Metcalfe Co., KY, the son of Edgar and Elsie (Thompson) Sims. He started his working career at Joan of Arc and continued at FMC for 30 years in various roles, including stockroom and then in purchasing until his retirement. He became an accomplished videographer, recording many weddings and other events. After his retirement, Ed produced videos for FMC Corp. featuring their machinery and processes. He proudly served in the United States Marine Corp., serving in the Philippines. He was a member of the Hoopeston Masonic Star Lodge #709 where he was a 32-degree Scottish Rite Mason and Shriner. Ed was a member of the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384 and Hubbard Trail Country Club, as he was an avid golfer. He also enjoyed bowling and took great pride in caring for his lawn.

Ed and Edith married on September 20, 1952, in Orange, CA. Throughout their nearly 74 years of marriage, they were true partners in every sense as they enjoyed their time together bowling, golfing, and traveling to Florida for many years.

They are survived by two nephews, Michael and Gregory Roberts, many cousins, and friends.

Edith was preceded in death by her parents, George and Mildred Dewey. Ed was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar and Elsie Sims; one sister, Mary Roberts (Richard); and one brother, Philip Sims (Patsy).

A joint visitation will be held from 10:00 – 11:00 A.M., Friday, September 11, 2026, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St., Hoopeston, IL, with Masonic rites for Ed being conducted at 10:00 A.M. The funeral service for Edith and Ed will follow at 11:00 A.M. Friday at the funeral home with Pastor Bryan Langdoc officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery with military rites being accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.

Sally Jo Fitzsimmons, 90, of West Chester, Ohio, formerly of Danville, passed away on Thursday, September 3, 2026.

Born on August 26, 1936, in Danville, Illinois, Sally was the daughter of William Oliver and Maybelle (McKim) Seilhymer. She married Donald Fitzsimmons in Danville on September 2, 1951. He preceded her in death on April 13, 2023.

Survivors include her three sons, Donald (Teresa) Fitzsimmons of West Chester, Ohio, Michael Fitzsimmons of Bradenton, Florida, and Garrett (Theresa) Fitzsimmons of Knoxville, Tennessee; eight grandchildren; two great-grandsons; and four great-granddaughters.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her grandson, Andrew James Fitzsimmons; four sisters; and seven brothers.

Sally graduated from Midwest Baptist Bible College and was an active member of Faith Baptist Church in Danville alongside Don. The couple enjoyed traveling the world, with trips to Europe, Hawaii, and Alaska, as well as several cruises. Sally also loved to read.

A celebration of Sally’s life will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, September 9, 2026, at Faith Baptist Church, 920 Warrington Avenue, Danville, Illinois, with Jack Lazzell officiating. Visitation will be held at the church from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday. She will be laid to rest in Oakhill Cemetery following the service.
