Gordon Lee “Gordy” Coffey, 85, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 6:15 A.M. Tuesday, September 8, 2026, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. He was born on July 26, 1941, in Paducah, KY, the son of Richard Lee and Elma Jesse (Riley) Coffey. He married Christine Williams and she preceded him in death. He later married Donna Vaughn in Paducah, KY, in 1982 and she preceded him in death.
He was also preceded in death by his parents; two daughters, Anita “Sissy” Coffey and Judy Lynn Coffey; his siblings, Margie Pickett, Shirley Cross, Lou Voyles, Wendell Coffey, and Jackie Coffey; and one great-granddaughter, Jaylena Kay Coffey.
He is survived by his children, Linnie (Linda) Coffey, Richey (Kelly) Coffey, Chad (Amy) Coffey, Scotty Brant, Patty Baker, Wendy (Gene) Thompson, Dena (Don) Coffey, Amy (Becky) Bogard, Stacey Brant, and Donna Kay Brant; 22 grandchildren; 38 great-grandchildren including Dezmond Brant whom he was very close to; and several nieces and nephews.
Gordy worked for Silver Brothers for many years and then for Demeter Elevator. He later worked for Kaufman Grain in Rossville and then for Rick Kentner until his retirement. He attended Morning Star Ministries in Rossville. He enjoyed fishing, watching westerns and NASCAR, and attending stock car races in Boswell.
Visitation will be held 10:30 A.M. – 11:30 A.M. Tuesday, September 15, 2026, at Morning Star Ministries, 201 N. Chicago St., Rossville, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:30 A.M. Tuesday at the church with Pastor Dan Mikel officiating. Burial will follow in Potomac Cemetery in Potomac, IL.
