Mary JoAnne Hull, 71, of Watseka

Mary JoAnne Hull, 71, of Watseka passed away on Saturday, June 27, 2020 at her home. She was born September 16, 1948 in Morocco, IN, the daughter of Wilber H. and Dorothea Anne (Potts) Lade and they preceded her in death in addition to two daughters, Alicia Weber and Jeanette Hull; and two brothers and one sister-in-law, Dale W. (Glenda) Hull and Lee Roy Lade.

 

She is survived by five children, Tony (Kristina) Hull of Jacksonville, FL, Robin Hull of Watseka, Shelly Hebert of Sheldon, Barry Hull of Watseka and Robert Hull of Berrien Springs, MI; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one sister, Carole Jackson of Marion, IL; and three brothers and four sisters-in-law, Danny (Linda) Lade of Missouri, Terry (Wanda) Lade of Texas, Dennis (Karen) Lade of Illinois and Elaine Lade of Beaverville.

 

Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. until the 1:00 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at the Baier Funeral Home in Watseka. Rev. Debora White will officiate. Burial will follow at Oakland Cemetery in Morocco, IN.

Beverly Jean "Jeanie" Johnson, 62 of Milford

Beverly Jean “Jeanie” Johnson, 62 of Milford passed away on Thursday, June 25, 2020 at her home. She was born on September 3, 1957 in Watseka, the daughter of Arthur A. and Virginia A. (Downing) Johnson.

 

Jeanie is survived by one brother, Terry Johnson of Milford; one niece, Anne Johnson; one nephew, Erik Johnson; one sister-in-law, Kim Glass; one great-nephew, Asher; one great-niece, Lucy; and many special friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Tim Johnson; and one sister, Mary Jane Johnson.

 

Cremation rites will be accorded by Knapp Funeral Home in Milford.

Ed Copher, 74, of Milford

Ed Copher, 74, of Milford passed away on June 23rd, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Champaign. 

 

A funeral service is set for 2pm of Friday, June 26th at the Milford Christian Church with a visitaion one hour prior to the 2pm service.

 

Burial is at the Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.

Donna Kay Moore, 73, of Hoopeston, IL

Donna Kay Moore, 73, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 10:35 P.M. Saturday June 6, 2020 at IMH Resident Home in Watseka, IL.  She was born May 13, 1947, in Hoopeston, the daughter of Jess and Pearl (Shields) Moore. 

She is survived by two sisters-in-law, Frances “Fran” Moore of Hoopeston, IL and Verna Moore of Sarasota, FL and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Norma Cox; and two brothers, Gary Moore and Marvin Moore.

Donna worked at Krupp-Gerlach in Danville, until her retirement.  Her hobbies included making crafts, painting, reading, and watching television.  She was also a big fan of Elvis Presley.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a private burial will be held.

Vicki L. McCullough, 70, of Martinton

Vicki L. McCullough, 70, of Martinton passed away on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Riverside Medical Center in Kankakee. She was born on January 28, 1950 in Kankakee, a daughter of Merle and Carol Maxine (Frankum) Stephenson. Vicki married James W. McCullough in Papineau on December 30, 1967 and he preceded her in death on May 2, 2011. She was also preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Netta Long.

Survivors include one son, Timothy McCullough of Martinton; one sister, Roberta (Tim) Melton of Crosby, TX; a special niece, Danielle Cote of Martinton; five grandchildren; and several great-grandchildren.

Vicki was a member of the United Church of Christ in Papineau. She farmed with her husband for many years and loved her flower garden and her dog, Cujo.

Private visitation will be held at the Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka and private graveside services to follow at Prairie Dell Cemetery near Iroquois.

Anita J. Ennen, 88, of Watseka, IL

Anita J. Ennen, 88, of Watseka, IL, passed away on Monday, June 8, 2020 at her home in Watseka. She was born on January 9, 1932 near Wellington, IL, the eldest daughter of Roy Nichols and Sally (Moore) Nichols. She married Roger Ennen on October 21, 1950 in Marion, IA and he preceded her in death on June 9, 2015. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents.

Surviving Mrs. Ennen are her sons, Scott Ennen of Maryville, TN and Bradley (Elsa) Ennen of Gardnerville, NV; daughter, Coleen Schoolman of Watseka, IL; two sisters, Marylin Jorgenson of Bloomington IL and Karen Lauder of Florida; grandchildren, Damon (Theresa) King of Danville, IN, Eric Schoolman of Sheldon, IL, Matthew (Holly) Ennen of St. Petersburg, FL, Joshua (Brittany) Ennen of Signal Mountain, TN, and Susan (Michael) Potter of Maryville, TN. Additionally, there are eight great grandchildren.

Anita was a resident of the Milford area for most of her life and enjoyed searching for antiques and collectables. She was an active member of the Red Hat Society.

Cremation rites have been made accordingly by Knapp Funeral Home in Watseka. Burial will be held privately at a later date at Maple Grove Cemetery in Milford.

Trent Franklin Hufford, 49, of Rossville, IL

Trent Franklin Hufford, 49, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 2:38 P.M. Wednesday June 3, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.  He was born January 3, 1971, in Danville, IL, the son of Thomas “Tom” and Joetta (Hughes) Hufford. His mother survives in Rossville, IL.  He married Cammy Green on September 28, 1991 at the Hoopeston Community Church of the Nazarene and together they had two children, Kyle (Chelsea) Hufford of Ogden, IL and Ashton (Eli) Cousins of Colchester, IL.

He is also survived by his sister, Amy (Austin) Crawford of Milford, IL; brother, Tod (Kris) Hufford of Alvin, IL;  grandchildren, Trentyn, Ryylan, Rynlee, and Zachary;  nieces and nephews, Kristen (Aaron), Emily (Dakota), and Ty; and his significant other, Heather Davis and her children.

He was preceded in death by his father; brother, Bret; and an infant niece, Mary Elizabeth.

Trent worked in Quality Control at Autozone Distribution Center for several years.  He was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed farming, golfing, and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren.

A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Monday June 8, 2020 at the Rossville United Methodist Church 116 Maple St. Rossville, IL.  Due to COVID-19 regulations, all family and friends who plan to attend the VIEWING are REQUIRED to practice extreme precaution and practice social distancing.  Please be considerate of others as only ten people will be allowed inside the church at a time.  A graveside service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Tuesday June 9, 2020 at Rossville Cemetery with Pastor Chris Quick officiating.  Friends are encouraged to line Greenwood Drive at 9:45 A.M. Tuesday June 9, to greet the family as they proceed to the graveside rites.

Michael Anthony "Rooster" Abbott, 51, of Hoopeston, IL

Michael Anthony “Rooster” Abbott, 51, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 11:49 A.M. Monday June 1, 2020 at his home.  He was born April 3, 1969, in Hayti, MO, the son of Hollis and Billie (Schwartz) Abbott. 

He is survived by two daughters, Tiffany Burns of Watseka, IL and Cassidy Kroll of Chicago, IL; two sons, Ira Burns of Lafayette, IN and Cameron Kroll of Watseka, IL; three sisters, Tina Lile of Hoopeston, IL, Robin Irvin of Urbana, IL, and Samantha Lacey of Missouri; three grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; and one brother, Joseph Lacey.

 Michael was a self-employed mechanic.  He enjoyed riding dirt bikes, fishing, hunting, and building derby cars.

Cremation rites will be accorded.

Cynthia L. Corke, 62 of Watseka

Cynthia L. Corke, 62 of Watseka passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020 at her home. She was born on July 20, 1957 in Urbana, the daughter of Barbara Cynthia L. Corke, 62 of Watseka passed away on Friday, May 22, 2020 at her home. She was born on July 20, 1957 in Urbana, the daughter of Barbara (Sly) Rudisill and raised by Harold and Barbara Rudisill.

Cindy married Richard Corke on September 28, 1988 in Barron, WI and he preceded her in death on October 22, 2016. She was also preceded in death by her sister and brother-in-law, Mary Ann and John Skawinski, and grandparents, Boob and Eileen Goller.

She is survived by her parents, Harold and Barbara Rudisill of Gilman, four brothers, Harold (Jeannie) Grimm of Watseka, Mike Rudisill of Sheldon, Ronnie Rudisill of Sheldon, and Billy Rudisill (Tonya) of Cissna Park, very special Aunt Neets (Jim) Honn of Gilman, sister-in-law Rita (Dave) Brutlag, several nieces and nephews, and her cats Buttercup, Snickers, Wayne, & Garth. Cindy also had several amazing friends whom she considered family who helped care for her in her time of need.

Cindy enjoyed fishing, gardening, traveling, NASCAR and loved her cats. She had worked for JB Communication (AT&T) in Gilman.

Anyone is welcome to pay their respects by coming to Oak Hill Cemetery on Saturday, June 6, 2020 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. and greeting the family from their cars. A private graveside service will follow. Pastor Gary Minard will officiate. A celebration of life will be held at a later date. Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society, ASPCA, St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, or Victory Junction.

Sheryl Ahrens, 69, of Eagle Grove, formerly of Watseka, IL

Sheryl Ahrens, 69, of Eagle Grove, formerly of Watseka, IL, passed away peacefully, with his family by her side, on Monday, June 1, 2020, at Rotary Senior Living in Eagle Grove, following a battle with cancer. A graveside service will be held at on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at Oak Hill Cemetery, Watseka.

Sheryl Ann (Dukes) Ahrens, the daughter of Sherril and Bertha (Wilt) Dukes, was born on October 10, 1950, in Watseka, Illinois. She was raised and educated in the area of her birth and received her cosmetology degree after attending Kankakee Community College. Sheryl worked in the school cafeteria and for many local restaurants.

On June 27, 1971, Sheryl was united in marriage with Harold Ahrens in Watseka. After Harold’s sudden death in 1997, she moved to Eagle Grove, Iowa in 1999.

Sheryl continued to care for people’s food needs and served many breakfasts at Ampride in Eagle Grove and cared for others while she worked for Krysilis in Belmond.

Sheryl was a member of the Centennial Christian Church in Watseka. She loved gardening, flowers, feeding birds (and other wild animals) and her dogs!!

Sheryl is survived by her sons, Robert Ahrens and Shawn Ahrens and his wife Jenna and two granddaughters, Emily and Sarah all of Eagle Grove. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Harold, son, Ryan Ahrens and sister, Freida Schaumburg.

Judy Lynn Wright, 56, of Woodland

Judy Lynn Wright, 56, of Woodland passed away on Saturday, May 30, 2020.

 

She was born June 4, 1963 in Fairbury, the daughter of James M. and Mary Anita (Fackler) Mills and they preceded her in death. She married Stanley Wright on August 22, 1981 in Milford and he survives in Woodland.

 

Besides her husband, she is survived by one daughter, Cassi Smith of Brandenburg, KY; one son, Cody Wright of Woodland; three grandchildren, Cameron Smith, Conner Smith, and Charlie Smith; one brother, Billy (Donna) Mills of Rossville; two sisters, Patricia Brotherton of Thomasboro and Carolyn (George) Smith of Champaign; and her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Wilda Wright of Woodland.

 

Judy enjoyed the racetrack, camping, baking, quilting, and traveling with her kids.

 

A private visitation will be on Friday, June 5, 2020 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford. A private visitation and funeral will take place on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at Knapp Funeral Home in Milford.

 

Burial will follow at Sugar Creek Cemetery in Stockland.

Harold Arthur Froehling, 93 of Cissna Park

Harold Arthur Froehling, 93 of Cissna Park passed away on Sunday, May 31, 2020 surrounded by his family. He was born on April 26, 1927 in Harvey, the son of Arthur Harold and Julia (Wilkening) Froehling.

He married Rosalie Cluver on June 25, 1950 at St. John’s Lutheran Church-Ash Grove and she preceded him in death on December 15, 1999. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Tracy Jo Froehling; one grandson, A.J. Froehling; one great-grandson, Oliver Honeycutt; and one sister, Alice Nolte.

He is survived by four daughters, Cindy (Dennis) Vance of Buckley, Denise (John) Mason of Gilman, Wendy (Wells) Wylie of Peoria, and Amy (Jim) Zenner of Loda; one son, Art (Patty) Froehling of Loda; thirteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; and four great-great-grandchildren. He is also survived by one brother, Ralph (Jean) Froehling and two sisters-in-law, Lillian Cluver and Ruth Ann Cluver.

Mr. Froehling was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buckley, and was a lifelong farmer and milk hauler. He was also a U.S. Navy veteran and a member of the Cissna Park American Legion for 73 years. Harold was the first chapter president of the Cissna Park FFA and was inducted into the Cissna Park FFA Hall of Fame.

Private funeral services will be held on Thursday, June 4, 2020 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Buckley. Burial will follow at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Cissna Park.

A private visitation will take place on Wednesday, June 3, 2020 at Knapp Funeral Home in Cissna Park.

Beverly J. Winters- Mariage "BJ", 68, of Hoopeston, IL

Beverly J. Winters- Mariage “BJ”, 68, of Hoopeston, IL passed away at 5:30 A.M. Monday, June 1, 2020 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born October 26, 1951, the daughter of Charles and Laura (Warner) Winters Sr.
 
She is survived by two sisters, Sandy Winters of Hoopeston, IL and Charlotte Racz of Danville, IL; three brothers, Leroy (Sharon) Winters of Danville, IL, Raymond (Virginia) Winters of Danville, IL, and Jack (Barb) Winters of Arizona, and many nieces and nephews. She will be missed by her loving pet Shadow.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Myrtle Marie Dilley and two brothers, Charles Winters Jr. and Henry Winters.
 
Beverly drove a taxi for several years. She also worked for a magazine company setting up magazines in stores before going to work for Healp at Home where she worked in-home healthcare. She enjoyed playing bingo and mushroom hunting. Most of all she loved being with family and friends.
 
Per her wishes, cremation rites will be accorded and a service held at a later date.

Marlyn Eugene Steiner, 83, of Lafayette, IN and formerly of Onarga

Marlyn Eugene Steiner, 83, of Lafayette, IN and formerly of Onarga passed away on May 31, 2020 at his residence.

Marlyn was born January 22, 1937 in Buckley, the son of John and Beulah (Kelly) Steiner. He was a 1955 graduate of Onarga High School. While working as a farm hand on the Schumacher farm Marlyn began dating his future wife, Myrna J. Schumacher. They married on April 7, 1957 at Ash Grove and she survives.

Besides his wife, he is survived by three daughters, Lori (David) Hullinger of West Lafayette, IN, Becky Leydens of Indianapolis, IN, and Cindy (Lonnie) Welch of Pontiac; one sister, Twyla Steiner of La Place, IL; four grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Robert Steiner and Ronald Steiner; one sister, Marilyn Black; and one son, Dean Steiner.

Mr. Steiner was a member and treasurer at Trinity Lutheran Church for many years. He later became a member of Grace Lutheran Church in Lafayette, IN. Marlyn was a lifelong farmer in the Onarga, Illinois area. Over the years, he was also employed at Decker’s Livestock, Krumwiede Farm Supply, and Kaeb Sales. Marlyn retired from farming in 2004 and moved with his wife to New Braunfels, TX. Later, in 2011 they moved to the Lafayette area. Marlyn enjoyed playing cards, puzzling, gardening, and dancing.

Private graveside services will be held at Onarga Cemetery with Pastor Dan Eggold officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Grace Lutheran Church in Lafayette, IN.
