Shelby J. Masden, 84, of Hoopeston,

Shelby J. Masden, 84, of Hoopeston, IL passed away at 9:33 A.M. Wednesday, March 22,2023 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born July 8, 1938, in Caledonia, MS, the daughter of Emmitt and Pearl (Williams) James. She married Rabon Hinkle on December 22, 1982, and he preceded her in death on November 21, 2020.
She was also preceded in death by her parents, four sisters,and four brothers.
She is survived by one daughter, Teri (Jesse) Hardin of Delphi, IN; one son, Mark (Valerie) Hinkle of wellington, IL; one sister, Delphia Carlisle of Merrillville, IN; three grandchildren, JoHanna (Dan) Gash, Cody (Karina) Hinkle, and Lauren (Conor) McIlrath; 6 great-grandchildren, Madison (Enrique) Aranda, Morgan (Isaiah) Debban, Nathaniel, Colby, and Alijah Gash, and Turner McIlrath; one great-great-grandchild, Haven Grace Aranda; and many nieces and nephews.
Shelby was a homemaker, caring for her family. In previous years, she worked as a custodian at Calumet High School in Gary, IN. She was a devoted member of New Beginnings of Hoopeston Church and was an evangelist in the community. Shelby was a woman of faith who enjoyed reading her Bible and listening to ministers preach on television. She also enjoyed attending the senior dances at Hoopeston Multi Agency, eating breakfast with the Henning's breakfast club at Autumn Fields, and spending time with her family.
A visitation will be held at 12:00 - 3:00 P.M. Monday March 27, 2023, at New Beginnings of Hoopeston Church, 204 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 3:00 P.M. Monday at the church with Pastor Stan Jackowski and Pastor Bruce McQuidgg officiating. A private family burial will be held.

Janet Lavonne Crouch, 88, of Hoopeston

Janet Lavonne (McVicker) Crouch, 88, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 8:35 A.M. Friday March 10, 2023, at her home. She was born December 14, 1934, in Hoopeston, the daughter of Don and Pauline (Boyer) McVicker. She married Kenneth H. Crouch in November 1955. He preceded her in death. 

She is survived by three daughters, Krista Crouch of Deming, NM, Julee (Paul) Stelmaszek of Mesa, AZ, and Lorie (Carl) Dixon of Port Charlotte, FL; two sisters, Donna Jean Field of Hoopeston, IL and Diane McVicker of Greeley, CO; one brother, Kenny (Barb) McVicker of Hoopeston, IL; four grandchildren, Sarah Tucker, Michael (Angie) Neal, and Brennan Thompson all of AZ, and Bradley (Ashley) Arnold of FL; five great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews. 

In addition to her husband, Kenneth Crouch, she was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Nancy Crose; and two brothers-in-law, Bill Crose and Don Field. 

Janet was a homemaker, caring for her family. She later worked at the Multi-Agency in Hoopeston for several years and also Mid-Continent Coal Mine in Carbondale, CO for over ten years. She was a member of the Hoopeston United Methodist Church. She enjoyed gardening, working crossword puzzles, and spending time with her children and grandchildren. 

Per her wishes, she will be cremated, and no services will be held.

Donna K. Anderson, 78, of Danville

Donna Kay (Jaynes) Anderson, 78, of Danville, IL, passed away at 2:15 A.M. Friday March 10, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born December 30, 1944, in Rossville, IL, the daughter of Robert A. and Paulene W. (Vliet) Jaynes. She married John Richard Anderson on February 18, 1982. He survives in Danville, IL. 

She is also survived by one daughter, Brenda (Todd) Miller; two stepdaughters, Lisa Howard and Michelle (Charles) Cheuvront; one stepson, John (Tina Himes) Anderson; four granddaughters, Brandy (Kyle) Huckstadt, Cassidy (Austin) Lock, Tabitha (Matt) Thatcher, and Elizabeth Howard; seven grandsons, Jeremy (Megan) Cheuvront, Chris (Taylor) Lewellyn, Aaron (Laura) Lewellyn, Jacob (Emma) Howard, Carter Miller, Jacob Miller, and Lucas (Skylar) Miller; five great granddaughters; four great grandsons and two more great grandchildren on the way; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Dorothy VanVickle and Lois Green; one brother, Robert Paul Jaynes; one sister-in-law, Joanna Rush; three brothers-in-law, Raymond VanVickle, Charles Green, and Dale Rush; one niece, Teresa Ann Green; and two nephews, Perry Allen Jaynes and Jimmy Polson. 

Donna spent her school days at Bismarck Grade School and Bismarck High School. She attended Eastern Illinois University for approximately 1-1/2 years. Her working career mostly consisted of clerical and secretarial duties at State Farm Ins. Co. in Bloomington, IL, Trust Dept. at Second National Bank, Sales Secretary at Berkeley-Davis and Tridan Tool, and lastly, Data Entry person to the Fisheries Dept. of Illinois Department of Natural Resources at Gibson City Field Office. She retired on her birthday at the end of the year 2006. Donna enjoyed working crossword and Sudoku puzzles, baking cookies, and going out for Sunday breakfast. She also enjoyed spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. 

A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Wednesday March 15, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will be held at 12:00 P.M. Thursday March 16, 2023, at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Quick officiating. Burial will follow in Johnson Cemetery in Danville.

Robert Murphy, 72, of Danville

Robert Ward Murphy, 72, of Danville, IL, passed away at 9:55 A.M. Sunday March 5, 2023, at his home. He was born July 14, 1950, in Danville, IL, the son of John James “Jack” and Iris (Armstrong) Murphy. He married Vickie Kietzmann on May 6, 1972, in Hoopeston, IL. She survives in Danville. 

He is also survived by one daughter, Melissa Joanne (Skip) Betka of Rankin, IL; one son, Matthew Robert (Stephanie) Murphy of Champaign, IL; three grandchildren, Kaden and Kamron Murphy and Trenton Betka; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, parents, and one sister. 

Robert attended Hoopeston High School, graduating in the class of 1968. He then graduated from MDT Drafting school in Danville, IL.  

Robert worked at FMC in Hoopeston for four years and then Hyster, which later became NACCO, in Danville for forty-three years. After retiring from NACCO, he worked for Betka Farms for six years.  

Robert was an avid runner for thirty-four years running every length of race from a 5K to a Marathon. He enjoyed golfing and fishing from a young age. The last several years he enjoyed playing golf with his children and grandsons. His main hobby was always following his children and grandchildren in all of their activities. 

A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Saturday March 18, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Saturday at the funeral home with Rev. Wade Meranda officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Lynn Barr, 66, of East Lynn

Lynn Barr, 66, of East Lynn, IL, passed away at 9:20 P.M. Friday March 3, 2023, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL. She was born June 18, 1956, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Robert and Dolores “Dee” (Gustine) Fraley. She married John Barr on June 21, 1986, in Hoopeston. He survives in East Lynn. 

She is also survived by one daughter, Jessi (fiancé Josh Messinger) Barr of East Lynn, IL; one son, Justin (Nikki) Barr of Lexington, IL; one sister, Julie Schuler of Elsberry, MO; one brother, Robert (Laura) Fraley of St. Louis, MO; three grandchildren, Mason and Anna Barr and Xander Messinger; and several nieces and nephews. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Dolores Fraley; one son, Duder Barr; and one brother-in-law, Bill Schuler. 

Lynn worked as a CNA at the Hoopeston Nursing Home and at Heartland in Paxton. She enjoyed gardening, canning, making crafts, and painting. She also enjoyed sewing, doing puzzles, playing Scrabble, and most of all, spending time with her family. 

Cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held 12:30 – 1:00 P.M. Saturday March 11, 2023, at the East Lynn Community Fellowship Church, 41428 Main St. East Lynn, IL. The memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. at the church. No burial will be held.

Thelbert Falconer, 81, of Rossville

Thelbert M. Falconer, 81, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 6:52 A.M. Friday March 3, 2023, at his home. He was born August 5, 1941, in Danville, IL, the son of Marion and Viva Leona (Watson) Falconer. He married Sheila K. Haynes on November 12, 1981, in Novinger, MO. She survives in Rossville. 

He is also survived by one sister, Nadine LeClaire of Danville, IL and five nieces and nephews, Scott and Kevin Strawser and Tim, Brad, and Dawn LeClaire. 

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Marcella Strawser; and one niece, Teresa Branch. 

Thelbert worked at the Danville Post Office until his retirement on August 30, 1996. He served in the United States Coast Guard from March 29, 1961 – August 26, 1966. He was a member of the Rossville Church of Christ. Thelbert was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing, and hunting for deer antlers and arrowheads. He was also a beekeeper and raised and sold sweetcorn. He loved traveling, especially to the southwest as he collected arrowheads, western memorabilia and antiques and he enjoyed refinishing furniture. Over the years, Thelbert had several dogs and he loved them all. 

Cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Friday March 10, 2023, at the Rossville Church of Christ, 514 E. Attica St. Rossville, IL. The memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Friday at the church with Pastor Kevin Purdy officiating. No burial will be held. Military rites will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.

Terry Lynn Moore, 65, of Wellington

Terry Lynn Moore, 65, of Wellington, IL, passed away at 5:40 P.M. Thursday March 2, 2023, at her home. She was born September 15, 1957, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Marion and Shirley (Holt) Moore. They preceded her in death. 

She is survived by one sister, Joy Moore Langellier of Rankin, IL and one brother, Herbert Moore of Wellington, IL. 

Terry worked as a bookkeeper at Decker Sale Barn in Milford. She then worked at CI AG in Hallock, IL, and later worked as a receptionist at a nursing home in Clifton. She loved gardening and caring for animals of any kind. She also loved caring for the elderly and spending time with her family. 

A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Thursday March 9, 2023, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at the funeral home, with Pastor Ed Highfill officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Richard Austin Mann, 70, of Terre Haute, IN,

Richard Austin Mann, 70, of Terre Haute, IN, passed away at 12:14 P.M. Saturday February 25, 2023, at his home. He was born October 30, 1952, in Danville, IL, the son of George A. and Alice (Smith) Mann. His mother survives. 

He is also survived by one sister, Susan (Manuel) Agusti of Danville, IL; one brother, David Mann of Port Orange, FL; and two nephews, Jason (Gretchen) Mann and their children Marshall and Scarlett, and Tim (Nadine) Mann and their children Tyler and Nicholas. 

He was preceded in death by his father, George A. Mann. 

Richard attended Rossville High School, graduating in the class of 1970. He then served in the United States Air Force Reserve. He later attended Southern Illinois University Edwardsville where he received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing in 1991. Throughout his career as a registered nurse, he worked in several long-term care facilities. Richard was a member of the Rossville United Methodist Church and was an avid fisherman and enjoyed boating. 

Cremation rites will be accorded, and burial will be held at a later date.

Elnora Faye McCarthy, 89, of Westville

Elnora Faye McCarthy, 89, Westville, IL, passed away at 7:17 A.M. Sunday February 26, 2023, at Gardenview Manor in Danville, IL. She was born November 14, 1933, in Westville, IL, the daughter of Felix and Helen (Prunkard) Polakes.  

She is survived by two daughters, Janet (Mike) Wolverton and Karen (Alexis) Rivera; 5 grandchildren, Kristen (Kris) Kirby, Jeff (Megan) Lyons, Cory (Rebekah) Anderson, Nick (Natalia) Anderson, and Aron Rivera; 7 great-grandchildren, Addison Kirby, Blaine Kirby, Kaidence Lyons, Jacob Lyons, Emberlee Lyons, Haddie Anderson, and new addition, Jackson Edward Anderson; several special nieces and nephews whom she loved; special family members, Darla and David Booe and Carol Ridens who always helped out and a special neighbor, Jerry Gabehart. 

She was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Lelia Chiccino, Cleada Dupoux, and Doris J. Hiser. 

Elnora graduated from Lakeview School of Nursing. She then worked as a registered nurse at the Danville VA Hospital until her retirement. She enjoyed genealogy, gardening, bird watching and traveling. She also enjoyed doing cross stitch and needle work. 

Per her wishes, she will be cremated, and no services will be held. 

Elnora’s family would like to extend a special thank you to Kimberly and Winnie of Traditions Hospice and their wonderful staff.
