Joan Frances Gillespie, 87, of Fithian

Joan Frances Gillespie, 87, of Fithian, passed away at 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, August 29, 2018, at Hawthorne Inn, in Danville.

She was born on September 6, 1930, in Peoria, Illinois, the daughter of Lawrence and Mary (Ritschel) Gilles.  She married Sidney Gillespie on June 26, 1964, in Danville.  He preceded her in death in August of 1972.

She is survived by one daughter- Deborah Edmondson of Louisville, Kentucky, three sons- Patrick (Denise) Gillespie of Danville, Paul Gillespie of Fairmount and Joe Gillespie of Fithian; one brother- Bernard (Mary) Gilles of Kickapoo, Illinois; one sister- Christine (George) Lafollette of Oak Hill, Illinois; ten grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, sister- Carol Fairbank, brother- Charles Gilles and daughter-in-law- Karen Gillespie.

Joan worked for over 30 years as a bookkeeper for area automotive dealerships.  She was a member of Holy Family Catholic Church.  Joan enjoyed genealogy, crossword puzzles, watching cooking shows and spending time with her family and grandchildren.

A Celebration of Joan Frances Gillespie’s Life will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, September 1, 2018, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Potomac.  She will be laid to rest following the service in Embury Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Saturday, at the funeral home.  In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Scleroderma Foundation.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Joan’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on her everlasting memorial page at:  www.blurtonfuneralhomes.com.

 

Juan Resendez Linares, 95, of Hoopeston

Juan Resendez Linares, 95, of Hoopeston, passed away at 10:11 a.m. Saturday, August 25, 2018, at home with his family by his side. 

Mr. Linares was born on September 23, 1922, in Querétaro, Mexico, the son of Arcadio and Eduarda (Resendez) Linares.  He married Margarita Vargas on June 10, 1949, in Harlingen, Texas.  She preceded him in death on May 8, 2014.

He is survived by one daughter- Maribel (Ken) Baumberger of Indianapolis; five sons- Juan Jose “Joe” (Jane) Linares of Ft. Madison, Iowa, Ernesto “Ernie” Linares of Hoopeston, Raul “Rudy” (Lori) Linares of Westville, George (Amy) Linares of Hoopeston and Raymond (Sarah) Linares of Bloomington, Illinois; 21 grandchildren; 25 great-grandchildren; two brothers- Bartolome Linares and Domingo Linares; and one sister-Maria.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, daughter- Maria Linares, son- Eduardo “Eddie” Linares and two infant sons.

Juan worked for over 30 years at Joan of Arc, in Hoopeston, until his retirement in 1989.  He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, where he was very active in helping around the church.  Juan enjoyed being outdoors and working in his yard.  Juan will be fondly remembered by family and friends: great sense of humor, quiet dignity, strong work ethic, faithfully lived his values and lead by example.  Juan will be missed but never forgotten.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, August 31, 2018, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, with Fr. Thomas Gibson as the main celebrant for the Holy Mass of Christian Burial.  Following the services he will be laid to rest in Floral Hill Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  A Rosary Service will be held at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  Memorials may be made in Juan’s name to St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Juan’s life.  Memories or photos may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.

 

Marcella P. "Sally" Sheppard, 97, of Hoopeston,

Marcella P. “Sally” Sheppard, 97, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 12:37 P.M. Thursday August 23, 2018, at her home.  She was born February 20, 1921, at home in rural Hoopeston, the daughter of James and Anna (Lannon) Jennett.  She married Eugene Sheppard on April 21, 1941.  He preceded her in death.

She is survived by eight children, Ronald (Karen) Sheppard of Chatsworth, IL, Judy Becker of Wilmington, NC, Steve (Virginia) Sheppard of Hoopeston, IL, Neil (Connie) Sheppard of St. Anne, IL, Gayle (Pete) Davitto of Clarksville, CA, Duane (Linda) Sheppard of Hoopeston, IL, Joellyn (Mark) Hamm of Tilton, IL, and Jeannine (Don) Arvik of Colfax, IL; 14 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and special friends, Missy Stephens, Maggie Cope, and her dog Daisey.

She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kathleen Smith and Elizabeth Malady; and two brothers, Bernard Jennett and Robert Jennett.

Sally was a homemaker.  She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Hoopeston, where she also served on the Alter and Rosery Society.  She was a master of crossword puzzles, an avid bridge player, and enjoyed playing Rummikub.  She also enjoyed tennis, square dancing, clogging and wintering in Florida.

A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Monday August 27, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral mass will begin at 2:00 P.M. on Monday at St. Anthony Catholic Church 423 S. Third St. Hoopeston, IL, with Father Thomas Gibson and Father Ted Pracz officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Marie Lucille Lockhart, 95, of Hoopeston

Marie Lucille Lockhart, 95, of Hoopeston, passed away at 11:03 pm on Wednesday August 22, 2018, at Heritage Health Therapy and Senior Living, in Hoopeston, IL. 
 
She was born August 27, 1922 in Hoopeston, Illinois, the daughter of Herman and Mable (Roberts) Brown.
 
She married Charles Wm. Lockhart December 20, 1941. He preceded her in death on March 22, 1988.
 
She is survived by one granddaughter, Beth (Matt) Roberts of Urbandale, IA; two great-grandchildren, Joshua and Lindi Roberts; daughter-in-law, Louise Lockhart of Urbandale, IA and also several nieces and nephews.
 
She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Dale Brown; two sons, Barry and Randall Lockhart; and one granddaughter, Belinda Lockhart.
 
Marie was a homemaker. Marie and husband Charles delivered the Danville Commercial News to the carriers for many years. She was a member of the Wellington United Methodist Church in Wellington, IL.

Mary Jewell Wise of Hoopeston, Illinois, passed away Monday, August 20, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana.  Visitation will be Friday, August 24, from 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. at the Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Jose Louis "Joselito" Ramos Jr., 32, of Pinson, AL, formerly of Wellington

Jose Louis “Joselito” Ramos Jr., 32, of Pinson, AL, formerly of Wellington, IL, passed away on Wednesday August 15, 2018.  He was born December 7, 1985, in Chicago, IL, the son of Jose Louis and Sherry Katherine (Landram) Ramos Sr., who survive in Wellington, IL.  He married Desiree Elise Solis on April 1, 2006 in Milford, IL.  She survives in Pinson, AL.

He is also survived by two daughters, Trinidy Tess Ramos and Annelise Athena Rae Ramos; two sons, Jose Louis Ramos III and Gabriel Austin McKelvey; 8 sisters, April Ramos, Samantha (Daniel) Oikion, Dianna Irizarry, Bianca (Juan) Martinez, Felisha Ramos, Ala Ramos, Mariah Ramos, and Lilliana Ramos; 5 brothers, Joseph Kraus, Eric (Amanda) Ramos, Joey Lee Miranda, Nico Ramos, and Carlos Ramos; and many nieces and nephews.  He is also survived by his mother-in-law, Diana Solis.

Jose owned his own diesel mechanic company, Diesel 911, for many years.  He served in the United States Navy from May 2006 – November 2010, where he served as a chef.  He enjoyed bowling, cooking, golfing, and riding his motorcycle.  He also enjoyed camping, fishing, hunting, and traveling.

A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Thursday August 23, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Thursday at the funeral home, with Father Thomas Gibson officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, IL.  Military rites will be accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post 384.

Leonard L. Dale, Sr., 74, of Wellington,

Leonard L. Dale, Sr., 74, of Wellington, IL, passed away at 9:23 P.M. Saturday August 11, 2018 at Iroquois Memorial Hospital in Watseka, IL.  He was born March 13, 1944 in Watseka, IL, the son of Harold Anderson and Ruby Alice (Roach) Dale.  He married Connie Ogborn on June 15, 2011 at the Wellington United Methodist Church in Wellington, IL.  She survives in Wellington.

He is also survived by one daughter, Teresa (Jeff) Rife of Hoopeston, IL; two sons, Leonard (Jane) Dale Jr., of Fort Myers, FL and Austin Dale of Okeechobee, FL; 6 step-sons, Joe (Amy) Rieches of Hoopeston, IL, Steve (Jill) Rieches of Oakwood, IL, James (Janelle) Bell of Hoopeston, IL, Rick (Mary Ann) Ogborn of West Lebanon, IN, Jim Ogborn of Wellington, IL and Doug Ogborn of AZ; one sister, Rena (Jeff) Gudeman of Wellington, IL;  one brother, Danny (Dana) Dale of Thomasboro, IL; 5 grandchildren; 10 step-grandchildren and two nephews, Billy Bruens and Steve Bruens Jr.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Justin Dale.

Leonard attended the Wellington United Methodist Church in Wellington, IL.  He enjoyed gardening and riding on the golf cart with his grandkids.

Per his wishes, he will be cremated.  A graveside service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday August 17, 2018 at Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston, IL, with Pastor Cathy Najmon officiating.  Burial will follow.

Joyce Watson, 81, of Hoopeston

Joyce A. Watson, 81, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 8:49 P.M. Wednesday August 8, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.  She was born April 8, 1937, in Wellington, IL, the daughter of Lem and Faye (Highfill) Carter.  She married Arnold Watson on September 5, 1953 in Danville, IL.  He survives. 

She is also survived by one daughter, Jodie (Jim) Sollars of Wellington, IL; two sons, Danny (Donna) Watson of Hoopeston, IL and Tim (Donna) Watson of Hoopeston, IL; one sister, Judie Rush of Hoopeston, IL; 6 grandchildren, Chad (Kaylee) Watson, Jason (Jess) Watson, Abby (Nate) Johnson, Jamie (Josh) Miller, Kelsey (Matt) Daniel, and Kaylee Sollars; and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one grandson, Joseph Watson.

Joyce worked in the activity department at the Hoopeston Nursing Home.  She enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family.

Per her wishes, she will be cremated, and no services will be held.

Bill Gholson Sr., 84, of Hoopeston

Bill D. Gholson Sr., 84, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 1:53 P.M. Tuesday August 7, 2018 at his home. He was born July 3, 1934 in Hoopeston, IL, the son of Vernon and Helen (Thornburg) Gholson. He married Willia Mae Thomas on July 27, 1951 in Wellington, IL. She preceded him in death on December 21, 1980.
He is survived by four daughters, Gloria (Jim) Cade of Woodbury, MN, Sheila (Doug) Stabile of Oakton, VA, Nora Gholson of Hoopeston, IL, and Brenda (Brian) Stevens of Port Washington, WI; one son, Dr. Bill D. (Jane) Gholson of Ashland, OR; 5 sisters, Mary (Earl) Knapp of Bloomington, IL, Alice Butts of Tilton, IL, Shirley (Butch) Sondgerath of Ambia, IN, Betty Boehme of Hoopeston, IL, and Pat (Ron) Sondgerath of Indianapolis, IN; 7 grandchildren, Jeanne, Tim, and Zachary Cade, Spencer and Max Stabile, and Chloe and Kenzie Stevens; 3 great-grandchildren, Elijah, Maddox, and Aziza Cade; and many nieces and nephews. He is also survived by his longtime friend and companion, Ruth Neathery.
He was preceded in death by his parents; 4 brothers, Vernon (June) Gholson, Carl (Helma) Gholson, Bob (Marcella) Gholson, and Bernard Gholson; and 3 brothers-in-law, Earl Knapp, Larry Butts, and Wayne Boehme.
Bill worked at American Can for 43 years until his retirement in 1996. He was a past member of the First Church of God in Hoopeston and the Hoopeston Historical Society. He enjoyed watching boxing and martial arts. Bill loved Civil War history and genealogy.
A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Monday August 13, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home with Pastor Adam Taubert officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Alex Jacob Pickett, 22, of Gibson City, IL, formerly of Hoopeston, IL

Alex Jacob Pickett, 22, of Gibson City, IL, formerly of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 9:07 A.M. Monday August 6, 2018 at his home.  He was born July 29, 1996, in Danville, IL, the son of Bradley and Amy (Blackwell) Pickett.  He married Taylor Lange on February 20, 2018 in Sanibel Island, FL.  She survives in Gibson City, IL.

He is also survived by his parents, Brad and Amy Pickett of Hoopeston, IL; one sister, Madeline Pickett of Hoopeston, IL; one brother, Ryan (Madison) Pickett of Milford, IL; maternal grandparents, Steve and Barb Blackwell of Hoopeston, IL; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Mark and Lisa Lange of Gibson City, IL; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Lucas and Samantha Lange of Gibson City, IL; and two nephews, Carson and Jaxson Lange.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Ray and Barb Pickett and one cousin, Sydni Blackwell.

Alex worked at Star Chrysler in Hoopeston.  He enjoyed fishing, hunting, riding around and hanging out with his friends.

A visitation will be held 4:00 -8:00 P.M. Thursday August 9, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Friday August 10, 2018 at the funeral home with Pastor Dan Mikel officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Marilyn Rosa Phillips, 63, of Hoopeston

Marilyn Rosa Phillips, 63, of Hoopeston, passed away at 5:14 a.m. Saturday, August 4, 2018, at home.

Marilyn was born on January 17, 1955, in Lafayette, Indiana, the daughter of Orville and Thelma Christmas Britt.  She married Robert Phillips, in 1989, in Lafayette, Indiana.  He preceded her in death in 2005.

She is survived by one son- Curtis Dalton of Lafayette; four grandchildren- Cody Dalton, Haley Dalton, Gavin Dalton and Sierra (Kyle) Davis; one great-grandchild on the way; one brother- Ronnie Britt of Indiana; and two sisters.

He was preceded in death by his parents, husband, one brother and one sister.

Marilyn enjoyed cooking, playing computer games, word puzzles and sewing.

Ada Mae (Goin) Seiters, 90, of Hoopeston

Ada Mae (Goin) Seiters, 90, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 3:04 P.M. Sunday August 5, 2018 at Carle Foundation Hospital in Urbana, IL.  She was born October 1, 1927, in Cheneyville, IL, the daughter of Vernal Herbert and Mary Howard (Hartman) Goin.  She married William Edward Seiters on September 7, 1948 in Templeton, IN.  He preceded her in death. 

She is survived by two daughters, Marsha Bogard of Hoopeston, IL and Patricia (Richard) Smith of Hoopeston, IL; two sons, John Seiters of Hoopeston, IL and William (Josie Lindsay) Seiters Jr., of Hoopeston, IL; 13 grandchildren; 35 great-grandchildren; 12 great-great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; 2 sons, William Lee and Vernal Dale; one daughter-in-law, Kathy; two sisters, Cora (Alfred) Denton and Pearl Goin; and two brothers, Roy (Nettie) Goin and Russell Goin.

A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Thursday August 9, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:00 A.M. Nettie Kelnhofer, 84, of Hoopeston

Nettie Naomi Kelnhofer, 84, of Hoopeston, passed away at 1:10 a.m., Monday, August 6, 2018, at her home.

Nettie was born on July 4, 1934, in Dutch Creek, Kentucky, the daughter of George Alfred and Mary Elizabeth (Anderson) Dean.  She married Herbert Roy Kelnhofer on February 3, 1949, in Kentucky.  He preceded her in death on September 16, 2001.

She is survived by four daughters- Regina (Don) Sollars of Florissant, Colorado, Mary Ann (Rick) Kincade of Racine, Wisconsin, Sherry (Rick) Hayn of Hoopeston and Christy (Dave Miller) Wood of Watseka; one son- Art (Kristy) Kelnhofer of Hoopeston; eighteen grandchildren- Tammy, Tricia, Andrea, April, Ben, Michael, Shane, Stacy, Mandy, Kari, Sara, John, Darren, Adam, Krissy, Joy, Joanna and Jeanne; forty great-grandchildren- Stella, Sam, Griffin, Cale, Julian, Gannon, Gabrielle, Alyssa, Carsyn, Jada, Skyler, Jackson, Alyvia, Cort, Cameron, Mercedes, Andon, Sydnee, Cain, Colt, Emma, Macy, Megan, Rachel, Zachary, Emmitt, Eastyn, Kaley, Dylann, Sammie, Gavin, Miranda, Caitlynn, Brianna, Kelsey, Alexis, Haley, Christopher, McCayla and Collin; one great-great-grandson-Kaden; and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers- James, Earl, Arie and Dillard, four sisters- Vela, Martha, Lucille and Betty and two grandsons- Herbert and Dale.

Nettie worked at TRW, Essex, Howard Industries and as a home health caregiver.  She was a member of the VFW Post #4826 Auxiliary, former Girl Scout Leader and a room mother at school for her children when they were younger.  She enjoyed making wreaths, cross stitch, cooking and traveling.

Leon Polson, 66, of Hoopeston

Leon Polson, 66, of Hoopeston, passed away 3:45 a.m. Sunday, August 5, 2018, at home.

Leon was born on July 13, 1952, in Danville, Illinois, the son of Earnest and Sarah Anna (Crabtree) Polson.  He married Patricia Hile on March 14, 1981, in Woodland.  She preceded him in death on August 29, 2010.  He later married Chris Kutch Johnson on October 8, 2016, at Manns Chapel.  She survives.

He is also survived by one step-son-Chad Johnson of St. Peters, Missouri; sister-in-law- Janice Polson of Hoopeston; three nieces- Karen (Darrin) Eighner of Rankin, Lois Cox of Stateline, Indiana and Linda Nosler of Hoopeston; and two nephews- Kevin (Monica) Polson of Cheyenne, Wyoming and David (Deb) Nosler of Hoopeston.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother-Gene Polson and sister- Lucille Nosler.

Leon graduated from Hoopeston Area High School in 1970.  He later graduated from DACC, in 1972, and from EIU, in 1974.  Leon owned and operated Polson Insurance Agency, in Hoopeston, since 1980.  He was a member of the Hoopeston Jaycee’s and Star Lodge #709.  Leon enjoyed traveling, camping, spending time with his family and he was an avid Chicago Bears fan.  He also enjoyed his cats and he loved to always be working.

Terry Lee "Pappy" Polson, 69, of Hoopeston

Terry Lee “Pappy” Polson, 69, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 6:15 A.M. Friday August 3, 2018 at his home.  He was born April 10, 1949, in Lecta. KY, the son of Ollie and Marrianna (Gilpen) Polson.  He married Sharon Carl on September 23, 1988 in Fowler, IN.  She survives in Hoopeston.

 He is survived by two daughters, Lea Ryna (Tim) Glass of Corbin, KY and Teri Michelle (Jeff) Compton of Edmonton, KY; two sons, Mark (Tara) Polson of Monroe, GA and Matthew (Brandi) Carl of Danville, IL; one brother, James (Mary Jo) Polson of Hoopeston, IL; grandchildren, Maggie Polson, Jessica and Josh Huff, Andrew Shoemaker, Alex Shoemaker, Brittany and Timmy Ennis, Amber Glass, Corey and Robin Holcomb, Christy Harper, Mikael Holcomb, Sawyer Carl, Raegen Carl, Samantha Tull, and Anjoelina Anderson; great-grandchildren, Jacie Ennis, Eva Ennis, Karalyne Holcomb, C.J. Holcomb, Eliza Ray, Layla Ray, Easton Holcomb, Nathan Holcomb, and Izabelle Lee and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; grandparents; stillborn twin sisters; and one grandson, Kaeden Lee.

Terry worked for Don Ervin for several years.  He then worked for ERH, Hyster, and most recently ThyssenKrupp Crankshaft Company.  He attended the Chestnut Street Church of Christ in Hoopeston.  Terry was a Hoopeston Jaycees member for many years, did volunteer work for the Hoopeston Animal Shelter, and he and his wife Sharon put on the fishing derby in Hoopeston for 20 years.  He enjoyed playing music, woodworking, fishing, and watching NASCAR.  Terry also enjoyed visiting with friends and family.

A visitation will be held 4:00 – 7:00 P.M. Tuesday August 7, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral service will be held at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday August 8, 2018 at the funeral home with Rev. John Morris and Rev. Bud McMasters officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Jamie Eugene Moore, 43, of Hoopeston

Jamie Eugene Moore, 43, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 10:10 P.M. Wednesday August 1, 2018 in Danville, IL.  He was born December 14, 1974 in Danville, IL, the son of Kenneth E. “Butch” and Sharon Kay (Redman) Moore.  They survive in Hoopeston.

He is also survived by his significant other, Cheyenne Lee; two sons, Kenneth Moore and Kingston Moore; one daughter, Bayleah Moore; two brothers, Tim Burke and David Wallace; four sisters, Angela Burke, Kelly Deline, Christy Burke, and Beth Pinkerman; one granddaughter, Raen Amelia Jaramillo; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents; one aunt, Georgia Rutledge; and two uncles, Joe Rutledge and Bill Simpson.

Jamie was a laborer, working construction.  He served in the United States Marine Corp. and attended New Beginnings of Hoopeston Church.  He loved his dogs and helping others.  Jamie especially loved spending time with his children.

A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M. Tuesday August 7, 2018 at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL.  The funeral service will follow the visitation and will begin at 11:00 A.M. Tuesday, at the funeral home, with Pastor Bruce McQuigg officiating.  Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Nancy Marie Hines, 71, of Armstrong

Nancy Marie Hines, 71, of Armstrong, passed away at 8:39 p.m. Tuesday, July 31, 2018, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.

Nancy was born on May 11, 1947, in Urbana, the daughter of Herman and Anna (Eiskamp) Boten.  She married Harold Hines on October 31, 1965, in Thomasboro.  He survives.

She is also survived by two daughters- Kim (Brad) Velliquette of Armstrong and Angie Lance of Potomac; five grandchildren- Kelsey (Jeremy) Jones, Kourtney (Trent) Fermanich, Kody Newell, Brianna Lance and Brittany Lance; one great-grandson- Jordan Jones; one sister- Eunice Mumm of Sidney: and several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents and one infant brother- Bobby Boten.

Nancy graduated from Armstrong High School, in 1965, and later attended Danville Beauty School.  She was the owner/operator of Nancy’s Beauty Shop, for over 49 years, until her retirement in 2015.  She was a member of Number 10 Church.  Nancy enjoyed bowling, playing the piano and organ, attending gospel concerts and was a lover of chocolate chips.  She also enjoyed mowing and riding in the tractor, spending time with her grandchildren and she was an avid Chicago Cubs fan.

Rupert Anthony Ellegood, 87, of Sullivan, Illinois, formerly of Hoopeston

Rupert Anthony Ellegood, 87, of Sullivan, Illinois, formerly of Hoopeston, passed away Wednesday August 1, 2018, at Mason’s Point, in Sullivan.

Mr. Ellegood was born on June 17, 1931, in Fancy Farm, Kentucky, the son of R.L. and Agnes (Lee) Ellegood.  He married Goldie L. Ellegood, in July of 1966.  She preceded him in death on June 7, 2009.

He is survived by one daughter Linda Sue Brandenburg of Northville, Michigan; one son- Michael Anthony Ellegood of Lady Lake, Florida; six grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter- Betty Jean McFarland, three brothers and three sisters.

Rupert graduated from Fulton High School, in Fulton, Kentucky.  He served in the United States Army from 1956 to 1959.  He was a member of the St. Anthony’s Catholic Church, Masonic Lodge, Moose Lodge and American Legion. 

Graveside services for Rupert Ellegood will be at 2:30 p.m. Friday, August 3, 2018, at Floral Hill Cemetery, with Father Tom Gibson officiating.  Military honors will be conducted at the cemetery by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, at Blurton Funeral Home, in Hoopeston.  Masonic services will be held at 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials may be made to the donor’s choice.  The family has entrusted the Blurton Funeral Home to assist them in honoring Rupert’s life.  Memories of photos may be shared with the family on his everlasting memorial page at:  www.BlurtonFuneralHomes.com.
