Phillip "Phil" Wayne Harper, 79, of Jamesburg, passed away at 1:33 a.m. Wednesday, September 28, 2022, at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center, in Danville.

Phil was born on September 17, 1943, in Cayuga, Indiana, the son of Cecil and Ellen (Cook) Harper.  He was raised by Truman and Elizabeth Piatt most of his childhood.  He married Myra Doss on May 20, 1967, in Danville, Illinois.  She survives.

He is also survived by three daughters-Lisa (David) Davis of Fithian, Illinois, Sherri (Drew) Smith of Danville, Illinois and Cindy (Cameron) Parker of Doyle, California; six grandchildren- Kaylee (Michael) Andrews, Ashley (Dustin) Murphy, Devin (Carissa) Smith, Logan (Makenzie) Smith, Adam Munds and Josslyn Parker; two great-grandchildren- Makenna Andrews and Kason Andrews and one other great-grandchild (Baby Murphy) on the way; and one brother- Allen (Joyce) Harper of Catlin.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and one brother.

Phil worked for 13 years at Lauhoff Grain and then worked for several years for Laborers Union #703, until he retired in 2005.  He was a member of the Illiana Antique Car Club for several years.  Phil lived and breathed Ford Model A's.  He loved working on them and collecting them.  He was also known for his wheeling and dealing.  Anytime you saw Phil, he always had a pocket full of tootsie rolls to eat and hand out.  He enjoyed spending time out in his garage and drinking coffee with his friends.  He also enjoyed spending time with his family.

For Phil's services the family has asked that you wear casual clothing and drive your antique car in Phil's honor.

Richard “Dick” Glenn Forshier Sr., 95, of Hoopeston, passed away at 9:10 a.m. Monday, September 26, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana.

Dick was born on June 4, 1927, in Hoopeston, Illinois, the son of James and Myra (Gunn) Forshier.  He married Elsie Mae Daniel on June 7, 1948, at St. Victors Catholic Church, in Victor, Colorado.  She preceded him in death on October 17, 2014. 

He is survived by two sons- David Forshier of Champaign, Illinois and Mike Forshier of Hoopeston, Illinois; four grandchildren- Anthony Forshier, Chris Forshier, Mark Jones, and Rob Jones; two great-grandchildren- Alex and Lea Forshier; one sister- Mary Orazon of Pueblo, Colorado; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, wife, one daughter- Barbara Jones, three sons- Arthur Forshier, Robert Forshier and Richard Forshier Jr., two brothers- Jim and Tom Forshier and one sister- Jean Hayden.

Dick graduated from Hoopeston High School, in 1945.  Following high school, he served in the United States Navy.  He later graduated from Northern Colorado University, with his bachelor’s degree in education.  During his time there he was a state diving champion and played football, basketball, and track.  Dick taught Jr. High math, science, and physical education for 34 years, in Green River, Wyoming, Hoxie, Kansas, Stockland, Illinois and he spent most of his time teaching in Hoopeston, until his retirement in 1982.  He also coached football, basketball, track, and swimming during his time at Hoopeston.  During the summers Dick, ran the McFerren Park Swimming Pool and taught swimming to kids for many years.  He was a member of St. Anthony’s Catholic Church.  Dick enjoyed woodworking, woodburning, fishing, camping, swimming, family vacations to Colorado and watching his children’s and grandchildren’s sporting events throughout the years.

Marlene M. Seggebruch, 89, of Cissna Park passed away on Monday, September 26, 2022 at the Praireview Lutheran Home in Danforth. She was born on July 15, 1933 in Watseka, daughter of Fred and Mable (Hodge) Lubben. Marlene married Melvin Henry Seggebruch in Grand Prairie, Texas on July 8, 1951 and he preceded her in death on July 29, 2020. She was also preceded in death by both parents; one brother, John Lubben; and her daughter-in-law, Donna Seggebruch.

Surviving are four sons, Duane “Dewey” Seggebruch of Milford, Les D. (Joann) Seggebruch of Cissna Park, Rod Seggebruch of Cissna Park, and B.R. (Beth) Seggebruch of Cissna Park; nine grandchildren; and twelve great-grandchildren.

Marlene was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church at Ash Grove where she was involved with the Ladies Aide and taught Sunday School. Marlene raised four boys into men. She loved to bowl and play golf.

Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 1, 2022 at St. John’s Lutheran Church at Ash Grove. Funeral service will follow at 11:00 a.m. at the church with Rev. Michael Ruhlig officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery at Ash Grove.

Judith “Judy” Mae Edenburn, 81, of Potomac, passed away at 7:55 p.m. Friday, September 23, 2022, at Accolade Healthcare, in Danville.

Judy was born on August 22, 1941, in Urbana, Illinois, the daughter of Oscar and Anna Mae (Taylor) Bauer.  She was previously married to Rhonnie G. Catalina Sr. on March 23, 1958, in Covington, Kentucky.  She later married James “Jim” Curtis Edenburn on March 23, 1962, in Danville, Illinois.  He preceded her in death on December 8, 2015.

She is survived by two sons- Rhonnie G. Catalina Jr. of Rantoul, Illinois and James L. “Buddy” (Lisa) Edenburn of Penfield. Illinois; four grandchildren- Bailey Marie (Cody) Conrady of Armstrong, Illinois, Miranda Jane (Tyler) Wright of Royal, Illinois, Kyle (Sara) Catalina of Oakwood, Illinois and Sarah Catalina of Hoopeston, Illinois; and five great-grandchildren- Riley and Logan Kruse, Adeline and Oscar Catalina and James Conrady.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and two brothers.

Judy attended Potomac High School.  She worked as Village Clerk of Potomac, from 1971 to 1987 and Mayor of Potomac, from 1989 to 1993.  She also worked as a school bus driver, transportation director and high school secretary for Potomac CUSD #10, from 1971 to 1990.  Judy worked as the bookkeeper for Wolfe Funeral Home, from 1985 to 1990.  She later worked at Children and Family Services, from 1989 until her retirement in 2010.  Judy also owned and operated Chugar Bear Country Crafts in Potomac, from 1993 to 2018.  She was a member of the Potomac American Legion and served as an EMT for Middlefork Township Ambulance Service, where she served as an instructor.  Judy also was involved in 4-H and Cub Scouts, where she started as a volunteer at 20 years old.  She also sold Avon products for many years.  She loved doing crafts, painting, sewing and her cats.

Arthur Major Wagoner, 68, of Hoopeston, passed away at 11:49 p.m. Wednesday, September 21, 2022, at his home.

Arthur was born on March 26, 1954, in Danville, the son of Orville and Alice (Broome) Wagoner.  He is survived by his two daughters- Melissa (Bill) Crose of Hoopeston and Betsy (Jerod) Peters of Rossville; six grandchildren- Brennan Crose, Bailey (Gabby) Crose, Brielle Crose, Jacob Peters, Aubrey Peters and Jadyn Peters; one brother- Raymond (Shirley) Wagoner of Tulsa, Oklahoma; two sisters- Anise Bertram of Asheboro, North Carolina and Joanne Elliott of Hoopeston; and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother-in-law- Gordon Bertram.

Arthur graduated from Hoopeston Area High School, in 1973.  He worked at Joan or Arc, in Hoopeston, for 28 years and later at McLane’s, in Danville, for 16 years, until he retired.  Arthur was a member of the Prairie Green Church of Christ.  He was an avid bowler and enjoyed fishing and hunting.  Arthur also enjoyed going to his grandchildren’s sporting events.  He enjoyed gardening and was very well known for his spices, seasonings, and salsas that he would give to people.  Arthur would spend a lot of time going antiquing with his mom Alice.  He also enjoyed taking the grandchildren to school everyday and picking them up, as well as taking Betsy’s dogs, Dixie and Louie outside every day.

Beverly Mae (Miller) Ward died at home in Hoopeston, Illinois on September 23, 2022 surrounded by family at the age of 80.

Beverly is survived by her children, Mark (Denise) Ward, Kim (Jim) Judy, Dawn Ward, MaryBeth (Marc) Young, Charles Ward, and Priscilla (Mike) Gregg; twelve grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and sister, Roberta (Miller) Diaz. She is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Donald Ward, a son, Paul Ward and sister, Marcia (Miller) Valentine.

Beverly was born on May 4th, 1942, in Fitchburg, Massachusetts to Richard and Doris Miller. She was a distinguished artist for over thirty years. Her art career started at the same time her oldest children were going off to college. In 1987, she graduated from Danville Area Community College with an Associate in Arts degree. Beverly’s work has shown in many Juried Shows, Galleries, Art Competitions, and Art Festivals in Illinois and across the nation. She has won numerous awards and recognitions and is a talented teacher having developed and instructed various classes throughout Illinois. Beverly was talented in many forms of media. Her early works were oil paintings. From there, she expanded into drawing using colored pencil, pen & ink, pastels, as well as mixed media. A big part of Beverly’s career focused on creating art with handmade paper. Her work is displayed in numerous private and corporate collections throughout the U.S. Her children and grandchildren remember her as a woman full of wisdom that encouraged and supported them to pursue their goals and live life to the full.

Beverly shared her love for art with her grandchildren, who have excelled under her guidance. Her eye for artistic beauty is displayed in the flower gardens surrounding her home. Here she would sit for hours enjoying coffee and a good book. She was a dedicated patron of the Hoopeston Public Library and supported them through her art.

Visitation will be held at Blurton Funeral Home, Hoopeston IL, on Monday, September 26th from 5:00 to 7:00 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial is scheduled for Tuesday, September 27th at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Hoopeston, IL at 10:00 am with a lunch to follow at St. Anthony Parish Hall. Fr. Ignatius Mulenda will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate Beverly's life. Burial will follow the service in Floral Hill Cemetery. Harold John Ingold, 99, of Rankin, passed away trusting in Jesus, on Monday, September 19, 2022. He had been residing at Autumn Fields Adult Community in Hoopeston, IL for 3 years, and then at the Hawthorne Inn in Danville for several weeks. 

Harold was born February 11, 1923, at Rankin, IL, to John Adam and Lena Alta (Milligan) Ingold. He was literally the son and grandson of pioneers. His mother grew up in a sod house on her father's homestead in the Platte River Valley of western Nebraska, near Ogallala, in the 1880's. 

Harold was raised and lived in the Rankin/East Lynn area his entire life, where he attended Science Hill Grade School and less than a year at East Lynn High School. Harold married Marjorie Helen Knoll on February 14, 1948, at St. James Methodist Church in Danville, IL. They were married over 67 years, until her homegoing in July of 2015. 

Harold was also preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Mrs. Ethel Russell of Morton, IL, and Mrs. Esther Wilson of Merriam, KS. 

Surviving are two sons, Hank (Nenita) Ingold of Keaau, Hawaii and Gary (Beth) Ingold of Danville, IL. Also surviving are five grandchildren, John Adam (Dawn) Ingold of Washington, DC; Mark Ingold of Indianapolis, IN; Nathan Ingold of Milan, MI; Daniel and Michael Ingold of Keaau, HI; and two great-grandchildren, Kimberly Ingold of Bloomington, IL; and Amelia Ingold, also of Bloomington. 

Harold was a life-long farmer in the Rankin area, first helping his father as a young boy in the 1930's, working the land with horses, and eventually taking over farming his parents' small farm near Rankin. He farmed full-time for over 50 years before retiring in about 1988. Even after retiring, he continued to live on the same farm, enjoying being on the land and tinkering around his farmstead. 

Harold always took pride in being a very hard worker. Although 6' 1” in height, he never weighed much over 140 pounds, but he was nevertheless strong and hardy in his youth. He was known for being very frugal and content in his lifestyle, and for being honest in his business dealings, always paying any debt that he owed. He never took out a loan in his life, nor did he ever use a credit or debit card. 

Harold enjoyed traveling in his younger years, going on several long vacations to the western states. He drove as far as Yellowstone National Park in his 1950 “Shoebox” Ford in the late 1950's. He had a life-long interest in geography and had an amazing memory, even into old age, of places he had visited and sights he had seen. Likewise, he knew many, many people and could remember details about people he had met just once, decades earlier. 

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 24^th, from 9:30 to 11 AM at Anderson Funeral Home, in Hoopeston, IL. After visitation, a funeral service will follow, with Rev. Paul Rebert officiating. Immediately following the service, burial will be at Floral Hill Cemetery at Hoopeston.

Harold G. Goble, 70, of Rossville, IL, passed away at 4:07 A.M. Tuesday September 20, 2022, at his home. He was born July 8, 1952, in Danville, IL, the son of Ralph and Catherine (Hawkins) Goble. He married Peggy Nunn on June 18, 1977, in Rossville. She survives in Rossville. 

He is also survived by one son, Branden Goble of Rossville, IL; his mother, Catherine; four sisters, Debra (Dennis) Mercer of Rantoul, IL, Sue (Roger) Reed of Cheneyville, IL, Teena (Steve) Sprague of Danville, IL, and Karen Luse of Danville, IL; two brothers, David Goble of Hoopeston, IL and Kenny Goble of Bismarck, IL; his mother-in-law, Shirley Nunn; and many nieces and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Ralph; two brothers, Melvin and John; and his father-in-law, Reed Nunn. 

Harold was a truck driver for Hubner Industries until his retirement. He served in the United States Air Force from 1971-1974. He was a member of the Rossville Church of Christ. Harold enjoyed riding his Harley Davidson and was an avid John Deere fan. He especially enjoyed fishing with his son. 

Cremation rites will be accorded. A visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 12:00 P.M. Friday September 30, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 12:00 P.M. Friday September 30^th at the funeral home, with Pastor Kevin Purdy officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston with military rites being accorded by the Hoopeston American Legion Post #384.

Josie Sue Lindsey, 60, of Hoopeston, passed away at 4:04 p.m. Sunday, September 11, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana. 

Josie was born on April 13, 1962, in Danville, the daughter of Joan Helen Lindsey.  She is survived by her significant other- Billy Seiters of Hoopeston; daughter- Katherine (Mario) Lopez of Hoopeston; son-Chris (April Toler) Seiters of Hoopeston; three grandchildren- Julian Lopez, Vanessa Lopez and Mario Lopez; brother- Jerry Lindsey of Hoopeston; two sisters- Joyce (Gary) Fink and Janet (Wayne) Bogard both of Hoopeston; and several nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her mother and grandmother- Helen Lindsey Baker.

Josie graduated from Hoopeston Area High School, in 1982.  She was a former member of New Beginnings Church.  She enjoyed baking with her grandchildren, loved her flowers, sewing, crocheting. reading, fishing, and watching Joyce Meyers and The Walton’s.  Josie loved going on car rides in the country and eating her burritos from McDonalds.  She also enjoyed watching the Hoopeston Marching Band.

Samuel Robert “Bob” Ault, 89, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 12:55 P.M. Saturday September 10, 2022, at Carle Hoopeston Regional Health Center. Bob was born July 21, 1933, at Rossville, IL, in a small house surrounded by a creek and woods. He was the son of Frank and Nova (Bennett) Ault. He had six sisters and one brother, all preceding him in death. He was raised on a farm and attended rural schools, graduating from Armstrong High School in 1951. 

Bob married Sarah Ann Taylor on September 24, 1952, and she preceded him in death on May 28, 1994. Together they had four children: Cindy (Dave) Bell of Watseka, IL; Shelley Miller (deceased); Steve Ault (good friend, Shelia) of Morton, IL; and Todd (Ann) Ault of Danville, IL. He later married Mary Lou Sweet in November 1998, and became stepfather to Marcia Russell of Petersburg, IN. Mary Lou survives in Hoopeston. 

Bob started his career working in Danville at the General Motors plant and then the Allith Prouty Plant. In 1953, Bob started work at American Can in Hoopeston. He retired as manager of product control in 1989. While living in Hoopeston raising his family, he was active in the PTA, Little League, and Pony League. He was a member of Hubbard Trail Country Club and served on the Police Commission board. Bob also served as Mayor of Hoopeston for fifteen years and alderman for eight years. He enjoyed working outside and always took great pride in his yard. 

In addition to his wife and three children, Bob leaves behind six grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Also, brother-in-law, David (Bunny) Taylor of Cincinnati, OH and sister-in-law, Martha Taylor of Boulder, CO. 

A visitation will be held 11:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Thursday September 15, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Nancy Kay (McBride) Lowe, 79, of Collison, IL, passed away at 2:40 P.M. Sunday September 11, 2022, at her home. She was born July 9, 1943, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Omer Royals “Todd” McBride and Mildred Olive (March) McBride Barker. She married David Lowe on July 11, 1958, in Hoopeston, IL. He survives in Collison.  

She is also survived by one daughter, Kristine (Bryan) McGoldrick of Safety Harbor, FL; two sons, Kevin Lowe of Penfield, IL and Brett Lowe of Collison, IL; six grandchildren, Anthony and Ashley Lowe, Kayla Simmons, Taylor, Aether, and Kevin McGoldrick; four great-grandchildren; and one niece, Cammi (McBride) Kirk. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one brother, Omer McBride; one granddaughter, Brianna Lowe; and one nephew, Todd McBride. 

Nancy owned and operated a janitorial service. She later worked in many retail stores and most recently worked for the US Postal Service. She was an avid bowler and was inducted into the bowling Hall of Fame in both Champaign and Vermilion counties. She also bowled in the state tournament for fifty straight years. Nancy’s hobbies included doing ceramics, antique shopping, and spending time with her family and friends, especially her grandchildren. She enjoyed traveling with her husband and special friends, the Anders family, and taking pictures. Nancy also enjoyed drinking a coke and a smoke and also a Miller Lite.  

A visitation will be held 5:00 – 8:00 P.M. Thursday September 15, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. Robert "Bob" Eugene Chesnut, 92, of Danville, formerly of Collison, passed away at 9:55 p.m. Friday, September 9, 2022, at Carle Foundation Hospital, in Urbana. 

Bob was born on September 18, 1929, in rural Danville, the son of Matthew "Mac" Hobart and Mildred Elsie (Adams) Chesnut.  He was previously married to Lois Jean Deck on February 12, 1949, in Danville, Illinois.  She preceded him in death on September 28, 2014.  He was also married to Dorothy Dunsmore on May 6, 1994, in Mattoon, Illinois.  She preceded him in death on April 9, 2004.

He is survived by three daughters- Patti Winland of Collison, Jennifer Chesnut of Collison and Linda (John) Pasco of Oakwood; one son- Ron (Pam) Chesnut of Lewistown. Illinois; nine grandchildren- Shannon Winland, Dustin Chesnut, Christopher Winland, Jordan Vela, Jamie Glazik, Kyle Kincaid, Jaedyn Vela, Michelle Anderegg and Nicole Anderegg;  twelve great-grandchildren-Maxwell, Brody, Sadie, Trent, Odin, Gavril, Tanner, Emberlyn, Liam, Rynley, Raelyn and Rindal; sister- Donna Poyner of Brazil, Indiana: and special family friend- Robert (Teresa) Mitchell.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two wives, brother- Charles Chesnut, two sisters- Betty Irons and Barbara Gerdts and great-great grandson- Rivers Winland.

Chesnut Communications for several years, until his retirement.  He was a member of the Collison United Methodist Church.  He enjoyed watching boxing, gardening and loved working on CB radios.  Bob loved to be outdoors either hunting, fishing, camping or mushroom hunting.  He was known for his trophy bucks that he hunted over the years.  Earning awards from the North American Big Game Competition, Pope and Young Club, 1st Place in 1981, for non-typical whitetail.  He was also featured in North American Whitetail Magazine by writer Tom McNally in November of 1983, for non typical whitetail and featured in Outdoor Highlights, in November of 1981.

Brenda Marie Badgley, 65, of Rossville, IL, formerly of Hoopeston, IL, passed away 6:45 A.M. Thursday September 8, 2022, at her son’s home in Paxton, IL. She was born March 31, 1957, in Danville, IL, the daughter of Robert Arthur and Patricia Ann (Beyer) Quinn. She married Thomas Michael Badgley Sr. on April 5, 1975, in Belleville, IL. He survives in Rossville, IL. 

She is also survived by two daughters, Stacy Wood of Hoopeston, IL and Jessica (Lars) Badgley of Rossville, IL; two sons, Thomas Michael Badgley Jr of Paxton, IL and Timothy (Danielle) Badgley of Loda, IL; two sisters, Mary (Glenn) Recar of Potosi, MO and Victoria Quinn of Danville, IL; 11 grandchildren, Colten, Hunter, Matthew, Kendyl, Paityn, and Landyn Badgley, Aubrey Fouse, Skyler, Justin, and Serenity Morgan, and Klayton Wood; and one niece, Malinda Recar. 

She was preceded in death by her parents. 

Brenda enjoyed collecting eagles and angels. She loved spending time with her children and grandchildren and loved her dog, Sadie Sue.

Robert Vernon Cable III, 54, of Rankin, IL, passed away at 6:18 P.M. Wednesday September 7, 2022, at his home. He was born June 4, 1968, in Hinsdale, IL, the son of Robert V. Cable Jr. and Cheryl (Shaffer) Cable. He married Valerie S. Bushue on February 26, 1995, in Urbana, IL. She survives in Rankin. 

He is also survived by three children, Robert V. (Bo) Cable IV of Rankin, IL, Brett L. Cable (Ashley Winchester) of Rankin, IL, and Samantha T.K. Cable (Ceaser Martinez) of San Marcos, CA; one half-sister, Robin Cable of Florida; one half-brother, Jamie Lee Cable of Florida; and four nieces and nephews, Meranda Cable, Austin Cable, Vincent Laugner, and Tyler Oliverio. 

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Robert V. Cable Sr and Lily Cable; his parents, Robert V. Cable Jr. and Cheryl Cable; one sister, Roberta Cable; one brother, Tim Cable; and one half-sister, Carol Pass. 

Robert worked at Rantoul Products for thirty years and later at Greene Galvanized Stairs in East Lynn, IL. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, watching Storage Wars and Pawn Stars on television, and especially enjoyed spending time with his kids.

Anchors Aweigh...Larry P. Stevens, age 70, of Rankin, Illinois, set sail in the early morning hours of Friday September 2nd. He passed away, while resting peacefully at home, where he drew a large amount of comfort from the friends who had reached out to check on him, having his heart filled with love from his sprawling family, & having his wife by his side. Larry had battled a rare disease, scleroderma, courageously, for 6 1/2 years, & did so with inspirational strength & poise.

Larry was born on April 24th, 1952, in Danville, Illinois, he graduated from Danville High in 1970, & served a 4-year stint in the US Navy, starting in 1972. Larry married his wife, Lucy Stevens, on June 20, 1992, she survives. Through his health battles, she was his port in the storm, rock, & caregiver.

Larry’s “motley crue,” as he playfully called them at times, includes Tony Stevens (Jessica), Troy Stevens (Betsy), Candi Fulton (Lance), Rusty Shafer (Jennifer), Danny Shafer (Kristina), & Amanda Lackey (Scott). His supporting fleet also includes his 14 grandchildren, Aria, Austin, Bradyn, Brantley, Dakota, John, Kamerin, Lance Jeremy, Madisyn, Mercedes, Morgan, Payton, Rebecca, & Tiffany, along with 6 great grandchildren. The grandparent stage turned Larry into an even bigger teddy bear & he lovingly became “Papa.” Too numerous to even begin to list, are the large number of “adopted” children he acquired, inherited, or chose throughout his life & a whole brigade of lifelong friends that he held dear.

Larry is survived by his sister, Kathy York (Alan) & brother, Ron Stevens (Debbie), nephews Brad & Corey, & his niece, Marci. He was preceded in death by his Grandparents, an Aunt, his Father, & 3 Uncles, including Harold “Buddy” Hendricks, who was very influential in his life. He was also preceded by his Mother, who left an everlasting impression on him, that shaped the person he was & his zest for life.
In 1968, at the age of 16, he started working at Hendricks Contracting, alongside his Grandfather, who started the business. After his naval tour, he returned to the company, where he spent his entire career & retired from in 2019. During that tenure, he had the honor of working with 3 generations of Hendricks family ownership, Grandpa Hendricks, Uncle Buddy, & his cousin, Randy.

Civic & community involvement was a passion of Larry’s. His list is long but includes serving on the Rankin Fire Protection District for 17 years, coaching youth sports for many years, sitting on the school board, village board, township board, Lions Club, & American Legion. It is a close contest, to determine if he logged more miles on his Harley, in equipment at work, or in a vehicle driving, to make sure he was in the stands to support his kids & his grandkids, in who knows how many various events.

Cremation rites will be accorded, and a visitation will be held 10:00 A.M. – 1:00 P.M. Monday, September 12, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Home 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. A memorial service will follow the visitation and will begin at 1:00 P.M. Monday at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Rankin Union Cemetery. Military rites will be accorded by the Cissna Park American Legion Post No. 527.

The family is requesting, in place of flowers, that you consider making a donation to the Rankin Lions Club. They will make the request to them, that the donations be applied towards the fireworks fund, for the Rankin Centennial Celebration in 2023. Larry spent many years assisting with lighting off the fireworks for that annual celebration & could sit for hours watching fireworks light up the sky.

James Eugene Pettice Jr, 64, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away on September 4, 2022.
He was born to parents James Eugene Pettice Sr. and Fran A. (Showalter) Bradley on December 7, 1957 in Danville, Illinois.

Jimmie was a Drywaller and Painter for 46 years working in homes across east central Illinois. He spent the last 20 plus years working for Local 363, most recently working on the athletic facilities for the University of Illinois. After 46 years of service, he hung up his whites and retired in July of 2022.

Jimmie’s life revolved around the joys of small town living in Vermilion County and living out family traditions. He and his wife Jan enjoyed country drives, spending time with their children and grandchildren and dancing any chance they got. He spent many hours driving the backroads and stopping to visit friends and family along the way. His drop-ins were his way of living out the Oakwood Strong mantra ensuring he was there for anyone who needed a helping hand or a little Jimmie humor. 

One of favorite pastimes was hunting mushrooms and looking for Native American artifacts, a tradition he passed along to his children and grandchildren. He was an avid Oakwood Comets, Fighting Illini and St. Louis Cardinals fan and enjoyed following each team closely. He was a member of the Oakwood Men’s Club and an honorary member of VFW Post #4826, in Hoopeston.

Jimmie met his wife Janet in 2001 and they married on February 6^th, 2004 in Danville, Illinois. Together they raised four children; Jacinda (Greg) Miller, Jolina (Andrew Powell) Pettice, Tony (Beth) Mitchell, Angie Mitchell (Pat) Kelly and enjoyed time with their grandchildren Garrett Miller, Gavin Miller, Maren Powell, Liam Powell, Jake Mitchell, Frankie Kimmell, Bryce Kelly, and Jordan Kelly.

Jimmie is survived by his parents, wife Jan, siblings; Marty Bradley, Joey (Rhonda) Bradley, Angie (Dale) Fagan, Jodi Boyd, Dixie (Terry) Bowman and Ty (Tanja) Pettice.

Jimmie is survived by his parents, wife Jan Pettice; four children Jacinda (Greg) Miller, Jolina Pettice (Andrew Powell), Tony Mitchell and Angie Mitchell Kelly and many aunts, uncles, family and friends.

He was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents Milt and Hazel Pettice,  maternal grandparents Clifford Showalter, Bob and Nora Anderson, father Ben Bradley, aunt Ruby Perdue, aunt and uncle Roger and Mary Showalter, sister-in-law Carla Bradley, brother-in-law Jeff Cox and other family and friends.

A celebration of his life will be held on Thursday, September 8^th at Blurton Funeral Home at 400 North Vermilion Street in Potomac, Illinois. The visitation will take place from 9 am to 11.30 am with the funeral immediately following at 11.30am. Dean Abbott and Paster Dan Hunt will officiate. Following the services, Jimmie will be laid to rest alongside his family in Gundy Cemetery in Bismarck, Illinois.

Rev. Karen Lee Evans, 78, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 7:24 P.M. Wednesday August 31, 2022, at her home. She was born December 11, 1943, at Camp Taylor in Louisville, KY, the daughter of Rev. Walter P. Evans Jr. and Rev. Gertrude (Collins) Evans.  

She is survived by two sisters, Rev. Dr. Juanita Evans Leonard of Indianapolis, IN and Naomi Evans Baker of Fishers, IN; one nephew, Jeremy N. Baker of Fishers, IN; two nieces, Jennifer R. (Paul) McCain of Indianapolis, IN, and Martha Joy (Brian) Davis of Findlay, OH; five great-nieces and nephews, Noah, Brennen, Anna, and Autumn Davis, and Charles McCain; a special friend, Alice Fink; and former brother-in-law, David Baker of Muncie, IN. 

She was preceded in death by her parents; one sister, Sadie B. Evans; and one brother-in-law, L. Samuel Leonard. 

Karen was a teacher and later became the principal at Wheelers Home Farm School in Riley, IL, where she also served on the Board of Directors for the Wheeler Foundation. She was a past Girl Scout leader, and member of the Hoopeston Hobby Club, the Christian Women’s Connection, and English and Drama Fraternities of Anderson College University. She was also a member of the Danville Light Opera, the Hoopeston Play Crafters, and the Women’s Christian Temperance Union. 

Karen was an ordained clergy woman and served as a missionary to Japan for the Church of God, Anderson, IN. She was a member of the First Church of God in Hoopeston where she was also a Sunday school teacher. 

A visitation will be held 10:00 – 11:00 A.M Saturday September 17, 2022, at Anderson Funeral Home, 427 E. Main St. Hoopeston, IL. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday September 17^th, at the funeral home with Pastor Carlos Sanchez officiating. Burial will follow in Floral Hill Cemetery in Hoopeston.

Michael Cross, 66, of Hoopeston, IL, passed away at 1:42 A.M. Monday August 29, 2022, at Accolade Healthcare of Paxton on Pells. He was born March 23, 1956, in Danville, IL, the son of Roscoe and Lucy (Floyd) Cross. His mother survives in Hoopeston. 

He is also survived by his significant other of over 30 years, Debra Lindsey of Hoopeston, IL; one daughter, Jessica Lindsey of Hoopeston, IL; one step-son, Dusty Lindsey of Hoopeston, IL; two sisters, Patricia Picket and Pamela Lindsey both of Hoopeston, IL; two brothers, Eugene Cross of Hoopeston, IL and John (Paula) Cross of Scottsdale, AZ; one grandson, Randal Howe; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews. 

He was preceded in death by his father, Roscoe, and two sisters, Marcia Bradshaw and Crystal Nelson. 

Michael was a garbage truck driver. He then worked at Stokely’s and Border’s Taxi Service. He later worked at Vermilion Iron in Hoopeston. He attended the Chestnut Street Church of Christ. Mike was a member of the Hoopeston Moose Lodge, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, playing Bingo, and visiting with family and friends. 

Cremation rites will be accorded, and no services will be held.
