Arrested:              Jorge Antuna (40) Hoopeston male

Details:                 Officers responded to the above location for a report of 2 motorcycles

                             driving in the area at a very high rate of speed.  Above subject was

                             located at Dollar General where a computer check revealed his

                             Illinois Driver’s License was suspended.  He was transported to HPD

                             where he was issued citations for above charges and was released.

Details:                 Unit 1 turned left off West Orange Street and struck Unit 2 as it was stopped at the stop sign in the southbound lane.

Details:                 Officers responded to the above for a disturbance call. A computer

                             check revealed Hicks to have an outstanding Bond County FTA traffic

                             warrant # BC-18-144.  He was transported to HPD where he posted

                             bond and was released with a new court date in Bond County.

Details:                 At the time and date of offence, HPD officers saw Mr. Baker driving and had previous knowledge of his driver’s license being suspended.  Subject refused to stop for a traffic stop and was not located.  Officers later located and arrested the subject for the above offenses.  He was brought to HPD to be processed and was released with a notice to appear in traffic court.

Details:                 Officers responded to the above in reference to a welfare check. After an investigation Dale and Jenkins were charged with the above, taken to HPD where they were processed and later transported to the PSB.

Details:                 HPD officers stopped the vehicle that Mr. Miller was driving for a

                             traffic infraction.  A computer check revealed that subject had a

          suspended driver’s license.  He was arrested and take to HPD to be
processed.  He was later released with a notice to appear in traffic court

Complainant:  39 year old Hoopeston woman

Cited NTA:    Carroll W. Jerome (M) (39) of Hoopeston

Details:          HPD officers were called to the above location for a fight.  Complainant

                      advised officers that she was battered by Mr. Jerome and was willing to

                      sign a complaint.  Subject had already left the area, however was contacted

                      by officers and told he was being cited for city ordinance violation of battery.

                      Subject was mailed the citation.

Unit #1:       1999 Chevrolet Carryall driven by Steven Coon (60) (M) of Hoopeston

Unit #2:       2018 Hyundai Sedan driven by Lauren Hamilton (18) (F) of Hoopeston

Details:       Unit 1 was backing out of a driveway on the north side of the road and failed

                   to see Unit 2.  Unit 1 struck the grill of Unit 2.  No injuries were reported at

 

                   the time of the accident. Both vehicles were insured and no tickets were issued.

Arrested:              13 year old male juvenile

Details:                 Subject was taken to HPD after he was found with cannabis on his person.

                             He was issued a citation to appear in Hoopeston City court and

                             released to a parent.

Details:       Complainant reports that his car and garage had been entered and ransacked by persons(s) unknown and without permission. 

 

 

 

Attention Residents:   Scam phone calls from family members supposedly in jail and needing money is being targeted to the Hoopeston Area.    Do not give these calls any information and do not send money to them by any means.

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle Mr. Gredy was driving for a traffic infraction.

                   A computer check revealed that subject had a suspended driver’s license.  He

                   was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  He was later released with a

                   traffic citation and court date.

Details:                 At the above time and date, HPD was requested to investigate a burglary and CDP report to a garage.  Person(s) unknown and without permission damaged and removed property from the garage.

Details:                 HPD responded to request to investigate a traffic accident that occurred. No report of injuries, both units insured and both units driven away.   Driver of Unit 1 was cited for Failure to Reduce speed to avoid an accident.  Court date set for Vermilion County Courthouse.

Details:                 Unit 2 was traveling north on Market St when Unit 1 pulled into traffic

                             off E Honeywell.  Unit 2 struck Unit 1 in the front driver’s side.  No

                             injuries, no tickets and both units were insured.

Arrested:              Patrick Henning (45) of Hoopeston

Details:                 Known to have 3 warrants out of Vermilion County, Mr. Henning was located at the above location. Henning was taken to HPD where he was processed, and later transported to the PSB.

Details:                 HPD officers stopped the vehicle that Mr. Salinas was driving for a

                             traffic infraction.  Upon investigation, cannabis was located.  Subject

                             was arrested and taken to HPD for processing.  He was later released

                             with a city ordinance citation and city court date.

Details:                 HPD officers stopped the vehicle that Mr. Zamarripa was driving for a

                             traffic infraction.  Upon investigation, cannabis was located.  Subject

                             was released on scene with a notice to appear in city court.

 

 

    Hit and Run Traffic Accident                    H18-4549

Unit #1:       Unknown

Unit #2:       2011 Hyundai owned by Loretta Boils of Hoopeston

Details:       Unit 2 was parked and unoccupied in the parking lot of CVS when Unit 1

                   backed into Unit 2 and left the scene.  Unit 2 was insured.  An investigation

                   continues.

 

Possession of Methamphetamine, No Valid DL, No Valid Registration    H18-4550

Time:                    17:05 hrs

Location:              9th Ave./Main St.

Cited:                   Cherrica Hamby (29) of Hoopeston

Arrested:              Matthew Hofer (35) of Hoopeston

Details:                 Officers conducted a traffic stop of a vehicle driven by Ms. Hamby. A computer check revealed she did not have a valid driver’s license and that the registration for the vehicle was expired. A subsequent search of the vehicle revealed methamphetamine, which Mr. Hofer was charged with. Both subjects were transported to HPD where they were processed. Ms. Hamby was released with a notice to appear, and Mr. Hofer was transported to the PSB to await arraignment.

Location:    1000 blk S Dixie Hwy

Unit #1:       2004 Buick 4D driven by Alex Maro (30) (M) from Milford

Unit #2:       2001 Ford 4D driven by Tyler Obenland (24) (M) from Hoopeston

Details:       Both Unit 1 and 2 were travelling northbound on S Dixie Hwy when Unit 1

became distracted and struck Unit 2 from behind.  No injuries were reported and both units were insured.

 

Possession of Controlled Substance                     H18-4537   V18-7377

Location:    N Dixie Hwy/Thompson Ave

Arrested:     Clarence Callahan (18) Milford male

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle that Mr. Callahan was driving for a traffic

                   infraction.  An investigation found a controlled substance in subject’s possession.

                   He was arrested and taken to HPD to be processed.  He was later transported to

                   the PSB in Danville to await arraignment.

Unit #1:                Unknown

Unit #2:                2007 Chevrolet owned by William Hughes of Hoopeston

Details:                 Unit #2 was parked when sometime during the night it was struck causing damage. Unit #1 left the scene. Unit #2 was insured.

A Vermilion County Assistant State's Attorney's Investigated by the FBI

On August 13, 2018, information was brought to the attention of the Vermilion County State's Attorney, Jacqueline Lacy, through the course of an investigation by Illinois State Police regarding actions of an employee of the State's Attorney's Office. Upon further investigation the Vermilion County State's Attomey contacted the United States Attorney's Office to notify their offce of the information discovered.

 

The Vermilion County State's Attorney's Office is fully cooperating with the joint investigation of the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Illinois State Police. No person is above the law including any employee of the Vermilion County State's Attomey's Office. The target employee of the investigation has been placed on unpaid administrative leave pending further investigation. To ensure the integrity of the prosecutions by the Vermilion County State's Attorney's Office all cases involving this employee will be reviewed to ensure that all proper procedures and laws were followed.

The case is being investigated by the Illinois State Police, Zone 5, and the FBI. This is an open and ongoing investigation, and no further information is being released at this time.

Arrested:              Thonchel Scott (26) of Springfield

Details:                 HPD responded to the above on the report of a battery that had just occurred.    

                             After locating Mr. Scott he was charged with the above, taken to HPD where he was processed, and later transported to the PSB.

Criminal Trespass to Real Property          H17-4437

Location:              306 E. Main St (Bzzz’s Place)

Arrested:               Thonchel Scott (26) of Springfield

Details:                 Officers were dispatched to the above in reference to a fight on the property. After locating Mr. Scott it was confirmed that he was earlier barred from the above location. Mr. Scott was charged with the above charges, and taken to HPD where he was later processed and later released with a Notice to Appear.

Details:                 HPD was requested to respond to the intersection to investigate a minor property damage accident.   Both Units driven away, Both Units Insured.  No Report of Injuries at the time of Report.

Details:                 While on a routine traffic stop Samora refused to provide officers with proper identification. He was charged with the above, and taken to HPD where he was processed and released with a notice to appear.

Arrested:    Elbert Cannon (52) Hoopeston male
Details:    Complainant contacted HPD and advised that Mr. Cannon was just found
   inside of his vehicle taking several items out.  Subject was located and arrested
   on the above charge.  He was taken to HPD, processed and later released with
   city citation and city court date.

Details:       Police were called to Casey’s 1022 W Penn Street.  When the male was approached by police, he became evasive and refused to cooperate or provide information to police.  Subject was transported to HPD processed on the above listed charges and released on Notice to Appear and OR Bond to appear in Vermilion County Court.

Details:       These 2 bikes came in Monday August 6, the owners may ID them at city hall.

Arrested:     Jessica Stipp (36) Hoopeston female

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle that Ms. Stipp was driving for a traffic violation.

                   A computer check revealed that subject’s driver’s license was suspended.  She

                   was taken to HPD, processed and later released with a traffic citation and traffic

                   court date.

Unit 1:         White 1999 Chevy 4dr. driven by Jasmine M Harms (F) (25) of Hoopeston

Unit 2:         Brown 2006 Ford Truck driven by Barbara J Pratt (F) (58) of Hoopeston

Details:        Unit #2 was traveling westbound in the 800 block of Seminary when Unit #1

                   failed to yield at the intersection and struck Unit #2.  Driver of Unit #1 was            

                   cited for Failure to Yield at Intersection and Operating an Uninsured Vehicle.

                   No injuries reported at the time of the accident.

Hoopeston Police Department Report 8/3/18

Interference with Police Prohibited           H18-4223

Location:    4th Ave/Lincoln St

Arrested:     Eric Smith (29) Hoopeston male

Details:       HPD officers pulled over a vehicle that Mr. Smith was a passenger in for

                   a traffic infraction.  Subject was arrested after refusing to cooperate with

                   officers and interfering with the traffic stop.  He was taken to HPD, processed

                   and later released with a city citation and city court date.

Cited Owner:   Joshua E Lane (M) (43) of Hoopeston

Details:           Hoopeston Animal Control Officer was called to the area for a black lab running

                        at large.  Dog was located and owner has been issued a city citation to appear in

                        city court.

Details:          HPD officers were called to the above location for a report of a possible 

                      burglary.  Complainant advised that she didn’t believe anything was taken

                      however a window had been broken by unknown subject(s).  An investigation

                      continues.

Possession of Cannabis, Purchase/Acceptance of Alcohol by Minors (city ordinance)

                   H18-4176

Time:          12:00am

Location:    1550 E Rd/4000 N Rd

Arrested:     15 year old juvenile female

                   17 year old juvenile male

Details:       HPD officers stopped the vehicle that the juveniles were in for a traffic

                   infraction.  An investigation found cannabis and alcohol in the vehicle. 

                   Both juveniles were taken to HPD to be processed.  They were given city

                   citations and released to guardians.

Details:          Complainant reports to HPD that person(s) unknown and without permission

                        removed a Lawn Jockey Statue from her yard.

                   extinguished and no injuries were reported.

Details:       HPD officers were called to the above location for a report of a domestic

                   situation.  After an investigation, Mr. Torres was arrested and taken to HPD

                   for processing.  He was later released with a city ordinance citation and city
